 Kim truly has Keeping Up With the Kardashians to thank for her career — and perhaps her executive producer Ryan Seacrest.

While they’ve known each other since they were teenagers, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton’s friendship reached new heights around 2003 when the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star began working as her pal’s personal stylist — a job which came with many perks and benefits.

Let’s not forget that this was the same year Paris gained a lot of attention for her incredibly popular reality show, The Simple Life, with her then-BFF Nicole Richie. 

The “Stars Are Blind” singer’s career took off and quite literally everywhere she went, the photographers would chase her every move — and while she wasn’t that known yet, Kim, who would often be by Paris’ side, would soon take over in popularity, wealth and worldwide fame.

Many believed that when Kim and her family kicked off their stint on reality TV back in 2007 that Paris was jealous, having seen how massive the show had become after its first season run on E!. In just 14 years, Kim has managed to build a billion-dollar empire, all while her sisters have done just as well, with Kylie Jenner also amassing a billion-dollar firm with her Kylie Cosmetics firm.

Of course, nobody could have predicted that KUWTK was going to do as well as it did, averaging over 4 million viewers by season 3 and producing a ton of spin-offs, including Khloe & Kourtney Take Miami, Kourtney & Kim Take New York, Khloe & Lamar, and Life of Kylie, just to name a few.

By 2011, the Kardashians had quite literally taken over the E! network, which made sense because they were bringing in the most amount of revenue from their respective shows.

 

During the rise of Kim’s career, Paris had said some not-so-nice things about her on-again, off-again pal, such as the time she appeared on the Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo radio show and said, "I would not want [Kim’s butt] — it’s gross! It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag.”

In 2011, Paris gave reality TV another shot when she landed a new show on Oxygen titled The World According to Paris — but after just one season, the network decided to pull the plug since ratings were averaging at just 250,000 viewers per episode, which was a far cry from the 13.3 million she pulled in during episode two of The Simple Life’s first run.

In a 2011 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Kim acknowledged her feud with the blonde beauty, where she admitted that she hadn’t spoken to Paris in years but insisted that while she believed the latter came into her life for a reason, they simply drifted apart as time went by.

"We don't really talk," she told the magazine. "As I always say, everyone comes into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. There comes a point in life where you just grow apart and you realize you're not as similar as you thought.”

It was in 2016 when things took a turn in the pair’s rivalry when Paris decided to show up to the Kardashians’ Christmas Eve party, where she even went on to pose for photos with Kim and her siblings.

Then, in a 2019 episode of KUWTK, Kim told her sister Khloe Kardashian that she had agreed to star in the music video because she owed it to the 40-year-old, saying, “I really would wanna do anything for her. She literally gave me a career, and I totally acknowledge that.”

Khloe responded, “A lot of people, no matter how they got their success, they wouldn’t say, ‘I got my career because of Paris.’ They wouldn’t say, ‘I wanna do you a favor.’ They’d be like, ‘Haha, b**ch, look who’s popping now,’ but you’re so sweet and kind.”

Despite their 20-year age difference, it seems Michael and Jamie are extremely close.

As a producer of his 2019 crime-drama Just Mercy, Michael B. Jordan made the decision of casting none other than his longtime friend Jamie Foxx in the movie, convinced that nobody was going to play the part of Walter McMillian as well as the 53-year-old Golden Globe winner.

After the script had been finalized and the movie was ready to enter production, Michael -- who is currently dating socialite Lori Harvey -- decided to call Jamie himself and see if he’d be available for the shoot. Being a producer on Just Mercy was no easy feat for Michael, who said it took between 4-5 years to develop the script, but after all was said and done, the only person who came to his mind who could play Walter McMillian was his pal, Jamie.

“I’m not sure [when] exactly in the process. I’ve been dealing with [Just Mercy] and developing it for like 4-5 years,” he told CinemaBlend.

 

“I think the casting process is usually one of the last things to kind of come together, once we’ve refined the script, and get it to a good place, schedules are lined up, we start thinking about cast. But in my mind, I’ve always kind of had Jamie in the forefront. I couldn’t think of anybody else to play [Walter McMillian.] I was just hoping that he was available, and that he was gonna do it.”

The crime-drama is based on the true story of Walter McMillian, who appeals his murder conviction with the help of defense attorney Bryan Stevenson. The film is based on the memoir of the same name.

The Warner Bros-distributed flick also went on to earn Jamie a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role at the 26th Screen Actors Guild Awards.

 

Being close friends actually made the process of filming Just Mercy easier for Michael, who, because of his close ties with Jamie, felt he could approach him in ways that other actors may have found intimidating.

Given that they were shooting a film that’s based on a true story, there was really no room for errors — especially with Michael helming the producer title for the film.

During a New York press junket, the 34-year-old explained, “I wasn’t too worried about saying anything or doing anything that was gonna make him feel uncomfortable and vice versa. It’s like when you’re with your best friends, you can crack jokes and say harsh things because you know, there’s no love loss, and that bond is there.

“It was kind of the same thing when it comes to our work, we were able to kind of find our chemistry and balance and also having a lot of fun, you know, even with the sensitive material that we were working with.”

 

Aside from working on Just Mercy together, Michael and Jamie have continuously supported each other’s individual projects.

Last year, when Jamie starred in the critically-acclaimed Disney+ film Soul, he sent a message with a poster of the film to Michael via Instagram, which he captioned, writing, “It’s here!!!! Enjoy!!!.”

The message was privately sent to Michael’s Instagram account, which the latter then took a screenshot of to repost on his Story, where he added the words, “@iamjamiefoxx can’t wait to watch.”

When the pair aren’t discussing film-related projects, they’re spending time together at each other’s homes in Los Angeles, which we know by the frequent amount of times they have posted their get-togethers on social media.

So, despite their 20-year age difference, it seems Michael and Jamie are extremely close.

Politics : APC extends nationwide membership registration, revalidation exercise

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended its ongoing nationwide membership registration and revalidation exercise by three weeks.

Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, National Secretary of the party’s Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), announced the extension in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, NAN reports.

He said the CECPC under the leadership of Gov. Mai Mala Buni had done everything possible to keep to the earlier timeline for the exercise but could not.

Akpanudoedehe said it became important to extend the duration of the exercise by three weeks to enable more Nigerians who were interested in joining the APC to do so.

He added that from the audit reports received from the party’s state registration committees and its situation rooms most states started the exercise late and require additional time to conclude the exercise.

He further added that the CECPC had received several applications from critical stakeholders of the APC including its states’ caretaker Chairmen for an extension of exercise.

“Consequently, the CECPC has approved the recommendation of the national committee for the membership registration, revalidation and update to extend the duration of the exercise for three weeks,” he said.

Recall that the party had earlier on Feb. 22, extended its ongoing nationwide membership registration and revalidation exercise.

The exercise formally began on Feb. 9 across the 36 states of the federation to March 31.

NIGERIA : Angry mob sets car ablaze in Iree

 

 

An irate mob Thursday afternoon took laws into their hands and set ablaze a Venza car after it collided with a commercial motorcyclist in Iree town.

The incident eyewitnesses disclosed to  occurred in front of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree main campus and that the motorcyclist has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Eyewitness accounts also revealed that while the commercial motorcyclist and the car were coming from Ada road, the motorcyclist wanted to overtake the car but in error collided with the rear of the car.

“After the collision, the motorcyclist was found in the drainage beside the road where he landed due the impact of the crash.”

As at the time of this report, the commercial motorcyclist though badly injured is still alive and receiving treatment while the driver of the Venza car was taken away by men of the Nigeria Police.

When contacted, the Spokesperson of the Nigerian Police, Osun Command, Yemisi Opalola, stated that investigations were still ongoing on the matter but that the driver of car in order to save himself from the wrath of the Polytechnic students and youths of the town had to flee from the scene of the accident.

According to her, when it was observed that the driver had fled, the angry mob decided to take the laws into their hands and set the car ablaze.

Lee Collins, captain of English club side, Yeovil Town is dead

 

English club side, Yeovil Town captain, Lee Collins is dead. He died at the age of 32.

Before joining Yeovil two years ago, Collins played for Wolves, Port Vale, Barnsley, Northampton, Mansfield as well as Forest Green.

Yeovil was preparing to play Altrincham on Friday night but the match has now been postponed.

In a statement on Friday, Yeovil confirmed the sad news saying, “All at Yeovil Town Football Club are mourning the loss of club captain Lee Collins.

“Lee sadly passed away yesterday and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

“Lee Collins made 35 appearances for Yeovil Town the last of which came on February 6.

“We ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy at this time. The club will make no further comment at this time.

“Our game with Altrincham tomorrow has been postponed.”

 

Sport Chelsea to play Bayern Munich in Champions League semi-final

 

Bayern Munich beat FC Rosengard 1-0 in the second leg of their women’s Champions League quarter-final on Thursday, to qualify with a 4-0 aggregate.

Lea Schueller netted the only goal of the encounter for the German side.

The result in Malmo extended the Frauen-Bundesliga leaders’ winning streak in all competitions to 26 matches.

Schueller scored in the 22nd minute, heading in defender Carolin Simon’s cross from the left, following a slick passing move by the visitors.

Bayern will now face Chelsea in the semi-final.

Chelsea secured a 3-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg yesterday, to progress with a 5-1 aggregate win.

Lyon will take on Paris Saint-Germain in their rescheduled quarter-final second leg on April 18 after a string of COVID-19 cases within the Lyon squad. The winners will meet Barcelona in the semifinals.
