BIAFRA NEWS : Biafra Declaration BRGIE met US Speaker, congressmen – Simon Ekpa claims

 

 

The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, BRGIE, has claimed that its Finance Minister, Ogechukwu Nkere and the Director Biafra Foreign Affairs, USA, 

Ada Eze, held important meetings with US congressmen, including the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Mike Johnson and Congressman Jeff Van Drew to discuss Biafra Liberation and the interest of the Biafran community in the US.

He made this known in a series of statements posted on his official X account on Thursday.

Ekpa, known as the Prime Minister of BRGIE, noted that Nkere had a fruitful discussion with the US lawmakers regarding the Biafra self-referendum and the Nigerian government’s alleged marginalisation of Biafrans.

Ekpa in his statement boasted that US Speaker expressed interest in supporting Biafra’s agitation for self-rule.

According to him, the outcome of the discussion during the meetings would help in the actualization of Biafra liberation.

He added that the message of the Biafra declaration on December 2, 2024, has resonated all over the US.

Ekpa wrote, “BRGIE Minister of Finance Ogechukwu Nkere had a substantive meeting and discussion with the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Mike Johnson (R-LA), to discuss the BRGIE, developments in Biafra, and the Biafran-American community.

“This is historic and unprecedented, as Speaker Johnson is one of the most powerful individuals in the United States government and is second in the United States presidential line of succession, after the Vice President.

“Minister Nkere also had the opportunity to discuss the self-referendum and Nigeria’s marginalisation of Biafrans.

“The Speaker expressed interest in and sympathy to the Biafran cause. At the end of the meeting, the Speaker provided a commemorative gift, which contained an official insignia of the office of Speaker of the House.

“This is truly historic, as never before has the Biafran issue been presented at such a high level.”

Recall that Ekpa-led BRGIE announced December 2, 2024, as the date for the Biafra liberation declaration.

However, the Nigerian Government had maintained that it was making moves to repatriate him back to the country from Finland.

BIAFRA NEWS : Threat on Yoruba, Bini: Biafra Govt writes Canada in defense of Amaka Sunnberger

 

This was contained a letter signed by the Director General of Biafra Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BRGIE, Dr Joy Robi addressed to the Mayor Brampton, Canada.

Recall that Sunnberger sparked outrage after a now-viral video she posted on her Tiktok account showed that she would harm Yoruba and Edo People.

In response to Sunnberger’s comments, the Nigerian government through the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, chaired by Abike Dabiri-Erewa on Thursday petitioned the Mayor of Brampton to persecute Sunnberger over her threatening comment.

Reacting, to the development Simon Ekpa, the Prime Minister of BRGIE had vowed to defend Sunnberger.

 o this end, Irobi in a three-page letter to the Canadian Government posted on Ekpa’s official X handle on Friday expressed concern over the inaccuracies and potential misunderstandings claimed by NiDCOM over Sunnberger.

The letter highlighted several violent remarks by individuals within the Nigerian government against Biafrans which did elicit call for persecution by the government.

“We provide below a counterargument with evidence of how the Nigerian
government that NiDCOM is representing has incited video violence and killings of
Indigenous people in Nigeria, which resulted in many people fleeing out of Nigeria to preserve their lives.

 

 

“Bayo Onanuga: I owe no-one an apology for ethnic slur against the Biafran Igbos, they are a threat to Yorubas”, the letter cited President Bola Tinubu Media Aide’s Onanuga’s comment in July 2024 as allegedly inciting violence.

 Information reaching the Biafra Government reveals that Mrs. Amaka Patience Sonnberge was traumatized by the attempted kidnap of her child in Canada by Two individuals from NiDCOM is informed that the police have taken over the matter. “NIDCOM’s Chair is from a privileged Nigerian tribe with the positive attention her tribe is enjoying but ignored the intense mental suffering being mated on the Biafra people from the great Igbo race.

“Notably, Mrs. Amaka Patience Sonnberge due to the mental suffering certain tribes in
Nigeria has mated on her family in Biafra land and may have angrily misspoken due to her pain, but that is not enough for NIDCOM to be advocating for Mrs Amaka Patience Sonnberge to lose her occupation.

 “In conclusion, I firmly believe that the claims made against Mrs Amaka Patience
Sonnberge is unfounded and does not reflect the true character and contributions when
you examine the painful and mental suffering Biafrans in Nigeria are going through daily. I respectfully request that you ignore the NiDOM claims in light of the evidence provided and allow Mrs. Amaka Patien ce Sonnberge to continue to contribute positively to your community in Canada. The Biafra government will defend Mrs Amaka Patience Sonnberge against any action taken by the NIDCOM”, the letter partly reads.

BIAFRA NEWS : South-East Lawmakers Join Calls To Tinubu To Immediately Release Nnamdi Kanu

 

The lawmakers in a statement released to journalists in Awka on Saturday, said the release of Kanu would separate genuine agitators from criminals and kidnappers as well as douse insecurity in the South-East.

Members of the Labour Party (LP) caucus in the South-East Houses of Assembly have called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Kanu has been in DSS detention since 2021 following his extradition from Kenya.

The lawmakers in a statement released to journalists in Awka on Saturday, said the release of Kanu would separate genuine agitators from criminals and kidnappers as well as douse insecurity in the South-East.

The lawmakers stated that Kanu's prolonged detention was emboldening criminal elements posing as agitators to engage in unlawful activities.

The communique was jointly signed by the 11 lawmakers from South-East, Jude Umennajiego, Kingsley Udemezue, Chidimma Mbachu, Nkechi Ogbuefi, Justice Azuka, Harrison Ogara, Eze Gabriel, Malachy Onyechi, Raymond Ugwu, Fred Ezenwa and Osita Okoh.

The communique was issued after their meeting of members of the caucus on July 10 2024.

The statement read, “We, therefore, lend our voices in appealing to President Bola Tinubu to, as a matter of urgency, release Nnamdi Kanu, so as to douse the current insecurity ravaging the South-East zone. 

"This insecurity has grounded the economy of the region and has occasioned the unprecedented loss of human lives as well as the destruction of property.

“His release will act as a healing balm to the region and also encourage the feeling of oneness as a nation. Furthermore, it will separate genuine agitators from criminals in the business of kidnapping.”

The lawmakers also appealed to the South-East governors and their counterparts across the country to work towards granting full financial autonomy to the state Houses of Assembly in accordance with the constitution and the principles of separation of powers.

"Granting full autonomy to state Houses of Assembly will go a long way in ensuring more robust assemblies, thereby enhancing their functionalities in the area of law-making, oversight and other attendant legislative duties.

The statement continued, “Following the example of the Federal Government, full financial autonomy will deepen democracy in the states and ensure more quality and effective representation.

“That the Federal Government should ensure the quick resolution of the current minimum wage impasse between the governments, organised private sector and labour unions. With the current economic reality and astronomical increment in the prices of goods and services, it would be wrong for the government not to hearken to the voice of the NLC/TUC who represent the voice of the suffering masses. 

"Nigerians are in agony on account of the current harsh economic situation, and the worst hit appears to be the workers, whose income is obviously not enough under the current situation.

“We abhor the recent hasty incarceration of Hon. Bright Ngene, who is a candidate in a rerun election in Enugu State, whose prison sentence seemed to be politically motivated. We call on the National Judicial Council to look into the case and ensure that justice is done. It is surprising that even when the community, who are the complainants in the case, opted to withdraw the case, the court still proceeded to trial and sentenced him to jail in controversial and suspicious circumstances without giving room for the adoption of written addresses by the parties.

“We also appeal to the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency ensure that in accordance with the standing order of the House, the minority positions due to the Labour Party are given to them without further delay. You recall that recently, some Labour Party members decamped to the PDP, going along with them the minority leadership positions of the Labour Party in the house. Since you have only two parties in the house, It is only right that the Labour Party is now in the minority and should be entitled to their minority leadership positions.

“As the speaker, who is the father to all in the House, it is only right and just that the positions be returned to the Labour Party to ensure fairness and equity.”  

 

BIAFRA NEWS : Stop politicising Nnamdi Kanu’s release, MASSOB tells S’East govs

 

The leadership of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has asked the governors in the South-East to stop politicising the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The MASSOB founder and leader of the Biafra Independence Movement, Ralph Uwazuruike, in a viral video on Saturday, faulted the way governors and senators from the South-East region are “politicising” Kanu’s release.   Kanu has been in DSS detention since his rendition from Kenya in 2021. 

Uwazuruike, who faulted the South-East politicians, said that even President Bola Tinubu does not have the absolute powers to order Kanu’s immediate release without seeking advice from the National Security Adviser.

In a statement also made available to journalists on Saturday and signed by the group’s Director of Information, Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike said, “It was not the Attorney General of the Federation, who is a Federal Government lawyer or the President, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces that is holding Kanu, but the security chiefs.

“Rather than meet the service chiefs, including the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, and Chief of Defence Staff, the approach being taken by the governors and senators from the zone is faulty.”

Uwazuruike advised the governors of the region to meet the NSA with a convincing security report on why Kanu needs to be freed, stressing that once this is done, the IPOB leader would certainly be released the next day.

He stated that rather than meeting the National Security Adviser, who usually advises the President based on his available security report from South East, the governors and senators were busy “hobnobbing in Abuja taking photographs and claiming to be working for his possible release without following the proper procedures”.

Mr Kanu has been in detention since he was rearrested in June 2021 and brought back to Nigeria from Kenya under controversial circumstances.

Mr Kanu, who is facing terrorism charges at the Federal High Court, Abuja, has been in detention since he was rearrested in June 2021 and repatriated to Nigeria from Kenya under controversial circumstances.

  that the governors of Imo (Hope Uzodinma), Ebonyi (Francis Nwifuru), Abia (Alex Otti) and Anambra (Charles Soludo) attended the meeting which was hosted by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

The Chairperson of the forum and Governor of Imo State, Mr Uzodinma, who read the communiqué to reporters, said the forum also resolved to tackle insecurity in the South-east.

“The forum resolved to visit Mr President (Tinubu) to discuss pressing issues concerning the South-east region.

“The forum also resolved to interface with the federal government to secure the release of Mr Nnamdi Kanu,” he said.

The governors did not indicate when they will meet with Mr Tinubu over the release of the IPOB leader.

Obasanjo’s solidarity visit

Mr Uzodinma said the forum received a delegation comprising former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Emeka Anyaoku and the Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Achebe, during their Tuesday meeting.

He said the delegation came on a solidarity visit to the forum.

Insecurity in South-east

The chairperson said the forum deliberated on the reviewed report of the South-east Security and Economic Summit held in Owerri, Imo State, on 28 September 2023.

The governor said they have agreed to implement the part of the report pertaining to security and economic integration in the South-east

He added that they also affirmed their desire to put “actionable plans on the key issues agreed” in the report.

Ogbonnaya Onu’s burial committee

Mr Uzodinma also said the forum commiserated with the governments and people of the South-east over the loss of a former Nigerian Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu.

He said the burial committee of the former minister, which has been constituted by the forum, will be headed by a former Senate President, Pius Anyim, while a former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, will serve as secretary.

First time

This is the first time the South-east Governors Forum would publicly announce a plan to seek the release of Mr Kanu since he was rearrested and repatriated to Nigeria from Kenya.

Meanwhile, several South-east leaders, including Governors Soludo and Mbah, have repeatedly asked for the release of the IPOB leader. But their requests were ignored by the Nigerian government.

 

Mr Kanu was first arrested in 2015 under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Court of Appeal, Abuja, on 13 October 2022, held that the IPOB leader was extraordinarily renditioned to Nigeria and that the action was a flagrant violation of the country’s extradition treaty and also a breach of his fundamental human rights.

The court, therefore, struck out the terrorism charges filed against Mr Kanu by the Nigerian government and ordered his release from the facility of the SSS.

However, about one week later, the government, through the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, appealed the court ruling and subsequently obtained an order at the Supreme Court staying its execution.

Delivering judgement on the appeal on 15 December 2023, the Supreme Court reversed the acquittal granted to Mr Kanu by the lower court and consequently ordered continuation of his trial at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

BIAFRA NEWS : Nnamdi Kanu can’t be sacrificed – IPOB cautions Justice Nyako against jailing its leader

 

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Saturday warned that its leader Nnamdi Kanu cannot be sacrificed to save corrupt politicians.

It cautioned Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court against jailing Kanu.

The group also charged Nyako to step down from Kanu’s trial, alleging that she had been compromised.

In a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB urged Western countries and human rights organisations like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Inter-Society organisation and other reputable human rights organisations to prevail over the Nigerian Government, President Bola Tinubu, and Justice Nyako to save the country’s judicial system by releasing Kanu.

The statement reads: “The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the indomitable and charismatic leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu reiterate our demand that Justice Binta Nyako step down from Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case. Justice Binta Nyako is already compromised because the Federal Government of Nigeria is pointing a gun on her head to jail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in order to free her husband and son from their EFCC case.

“IPOB will never allow the Federal Government to use our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as bait to entice Justice Binta Nyako to carry out their ugly agenda. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cannot be sacrificed to save the corrupt and treasury looters, Nyako Father and Son team.

The Biafra Republic Government in Exile, BRGIE, has announced the commencement of a self-referendum to actualize the age-long agitated sovereign nation called Biafra.

“As such, we are taking steps to satisfy the requirements for a peaceful actualization of a quest for self-preservation and independence of the United States of Biafra.

“Through the ongoing delegitimization of Nigeria in Biafra territory(through the Grievance Declaration, institutionalization Declaration and Commitment Declaration) and the legitimization of the Biafra Government, the Biafra Liberation have attained the status for state recognition by successfully setting up institutions required by international law and standards.

“This referendum election provides yet another step towards our freedom. As a Biafra citizen, you will further demonstrate your resolve for an independent United States of Biafra by participating in the Biafra Self Referendum (BSR)”.

The group said to qualify for the exercise, the participant must ” be a Biafran by birth (born of mother and/or father who themselves are Biafrans)” and from 18 years above.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has declared May 30 as a day for sit-at-home in the South-East to honour its fallen heroes and those who died during the civil war.

The pro-Biafran group stated that the lockdown would be total as every economic, social, religious, and political activity in the region would be suspended with the exception of hospitals, doctors, nurses, ambulances, and other health workers.

BIAFRA NEWS : Biafra not dead, will be restored soon – IPOB replies Obasanjo

 

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said Biafra would soon be restored because the agitation is not dead.

IPOB was reacting to a remark credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo that Biafra was dead and buried on 13th January 1970.

The spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful, said no amount of blackmail or propaganda could stop the restoration of Biafra.

Stressing that Obasanjo acknowledged there was “Igbophobia” in Nigeria, IPOB asked which ethnic group has been subjugated, maltreated, deprived, discriminated against, profiled, hated, militarized, and their youths murdered like the Igbos.

A statement by Powerful reads: “The Indigenous People of Biafra under Nnamdi Kanu wish to remind the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, that Biafra is not dead and was never buried but much alive and eventually the Sun shall rise to never set again.

“Obasanjo, as a special guest at Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s one-year celebration in office at the event in Awka, Anambra State, erroneously said he believed that Biafra died and was buried on 13th January 1970 during his comment at that occasion.

“We want Obasanjo to know that Biafra is not dead and definitely not buried. No amount of propaganda and blackmail against the IPOB movement will make us change our resolve to restore Biafra. We either restore Biafra or we die restoring Biafra.”

Ejiofor, while giving an update on his routine visit to Kanu in the Department of State Services (DSS) custody in Abuja on Monday, in a statement said that Kanu lamented that his health had been made worse by trial-and-error medical experiment being carried out on him by other in-house unqualified doctors brought by the DSS.
Ejiofor stated that “The visit also provided us an opportunity to further find out Onyendu’s present health status.
“Onyendu, who looked visibly frail, once again narrated to me how his body has been turned into “trial and error experiment” by the quack in-house medical practitioners recruited by the DSS who ostensibly know next to nothing about Onyendu’s peculiar health condition.
“Onyendu was emphatic that he is in dire need of the service of a cardiologist for a comprehensive medical examination.
“Onyendu lamented that one particular doctor with the DSS who first diagnosed the speedy depreciation in his potassium level was sacked early last year by the vindictive agency, for daring to make such profound findings.

 African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissociated itself from the purported endorsement

 Trustees, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, described the alleged endorsements as fraudulent, void and of no effect.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissociated itself from the purported endorsement of other political parties and their candidates for 2023 by a faction of the party.

Earlier, there was a report that ADC has endorsed the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, for the Saturday's presidential election.The purported endorsement was held at the River Plate Gardens in Abuja on Monday morning.

The coalition, which is made up of several star alliance partners such as Nigeria Mothers for Good Governance, Fulani United, and League of Imams, among others, said they seek to create a formidable force for the Obi/Datti ticket.

The event was attended by prominent figures such as the ADC National Chairman, Chief Raphael Nwosu, BoT Chairman,Dr Mani Ibrahim Ahmed and Prof Pat Utomi.

However, a statement by ADC's Chairman, Board of Trustees, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, described the alleged endorsements as fraudulent, void and of no effect, adding that the endorsement was being carried by a faction of the party not known to law for pecuniary gains.

It blamed a faction of the party, led by its immediate past National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu for the anti-party activity.

According to the party, Nwosu’s faction has allegedly divided itself into three groups which are now illegally engaged in endorsing parties like the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) for 2023 general elections all in a bid to make quick money.

Akwashiki warned those involved in the act to desist, noting that if not they would face the full wrath of the law.

According to the statement, its presidential candidate for 2023, Dumebi Kachikwu, had “long warned about criminals in ADC who sell the party to the bigger parties.

“They have divided themselves into three groups and collected money from APC, PDP and Labour. One party, three endorsements within the space of four days. Shameful.”

The statement further stated party under the interim leadership of Senator Akwashiki, described those who carried the endorsements as “impostors” and “impersonators” who were no longer members of ADC.

"Therefore, their endorsement has nothing to do with the authentic ADC recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“We are appalled that renegades who are no longer known to the ADC can constitute themselves into a criminal gang to perpetuate illegalities all in the name of making quick money.

“This condemnable action will not stop our party or its presidential candidate from running the race to the very end.

“We are determined to ensure that the bright chances of all ADC candidates in the forthcoming general elections are not sold or mortgaged as was the practice in the past.

“The arm of the law will soon catch up with all those responsible for these criminal and shameful activities," the statement partly read.

FG meets Finland, seeks end to Biafra agitator incitement

 

The Federal Government of Nigeria has met with Finnish Ambassadors as part of efforts to bring to book, and put an end to incitement of the Nigerian-Finnish lawyer and Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa.

In his remarks at the meeting held in Abuja, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Zubairu Dada said Ekpa’s action is fast becoming a threat to the forthcoming election, which the Federal Government must not take lightly

He called on the Finnish Government to do everything possible within the purview of the law to stop him from inciting further violence.

Zubairu said while Ekpa is in the comfort of his house in Finland, he issues orders to his teeming followers who consequently embark on killings, maimings and burning and other destructive activities.

“The most disturbing aspect is the fact that he is living in the comfort of his home in your country while dishing out these very dangerous orders to his followers not to allow these elections to hold. And that is threatening the peace of the southeastern part of Nigeria.

“Well, the conduct of peaceful elections in the south eastern parts of the country, and that is why we thought of the EU representative who, of course, has labored all these while and whose representatives are already on ground to monitor the elections.

“It’s important to get to know that I mean this These elections are being threatened by the actions of someone and that something needs to be done immediately, to address the situation. This in essence is why we thought it was important for us to have this discussion with you, so as to let you know our concerns and the displeasure of the Government of Nigeria and the people of Nigeria on this very unhealthy development,” Ambassador Zubairu noted.

The Minister thereafter played one of the audio tracks released by the Biafra agitator for the Finnish Ambassadors to further prove his points.

“We thought it was important for us to have this chat with you to let you know that, of course, he’s living in the comfort of his home there in Finland and we know that we have been in touch with your good self.

“We’ve had some time to ensure that we arrest this situation but it appears the situation is getting out of hand. And we’re saying enough is enough. We should let you know, in very strong terms that it’s high time you really mean and back Nigeria with the quest that something be done immediately because he threatens the forthcoming elections.

BIAFRA NEWS : Nigeria Jailed Nnamdi Kanu, Mere Agitator, While Confirmed Terrorist Turji Walks Free, Lawyer Accuses Buhari Government Of Selective Justice

 

A human rights lawyer and activist, Barrister Malcolm Omirhobo, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration over the detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Omirhobo accused the government of engaging in selective justice, discrimination, suppression, repression, oppression and subjugation by detaining Kanu, a Biafra Nation agitator while the same government has allowed a confirmed terrorist leader, Bello Turji to live and operate freely in the country.

In a tweet with photos of Turji and Kanu placed side by side, Omirhobo said, “While Bello Turji, a confirmed Terrorist is working free, Nnamdi Kanu, a mere agitator is behind bars in chains.

“This is the height of selective justice, discrimination, suppression, repression, oppression and subjugation.”

Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021 after he was re-arrested in Kenya and returned to Nigeria for the continuation of his trial for treasonable felony and terrorism.

 

Meanwhile, Turji, a terrorist leader who has been declared wanted by Nigerian security agencies, has been operating in Zamfara State and its adjoining states and even attending functions.

Meanwhile, despite the ruling of a three-man panel of judges of the Appeal Court which discharged the IPOB leader, Kanu, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF), Abubakar Malami, has insisted that Kanu would remain in detention.

 So long as Ibos are excluded, the rest of southern Nigeria is not bothered.

Igbos residing in the United States, US, have inaugurated the Biafra House in Oxon Hill in Maryland, Washington DC.

DAILY POST gathered that the Biafra House was inaugurated to serve people who believe in Biafra and friends of the nation.

This was authoritatively disclosed to DAILY POST by a source.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said: “The Biafra House is officially opened for business to the public, including Government Administrative Matters, Diplomatic Protocol, International Relations, and Security, amongst others.”

BIAFRA NEWS : Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer gives three reasons court suspended IPOB leader’s trial

 

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has reacted to the decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja to suspend the further trial of its client.

Ejimakor explained that it was impossible for Justice Binta Nyako-led court to continue with Kanu’s trial.

Justice Nyako put off Kanu’s trial sine die due to the pending resolution of the Federal Government’s appeal against the October 13 judgment of the Court of Appeal that discharged him from the terrorism charges.

The Federal Government’s appeal seeking a reversal of the Court of Appeal judgment is pending before the Supreme Court.

Reacting, Ejimakor said the Court of Appeal judgment and that of the Federal High Court in Umuahia made it impossible for Nyako to continue with Kanu’s trial.

In a chat with DAILY POST, the Special Counsel said the pending appeal before the Supreme Court was a barrier to the continuation of the trial.

“My reaction to today’s Federal High Court, Abuja ruling declining further trial of Nnamdi Kanu:

“The ruling today by Justice Binta of Federal High Court Abuja was not unexpected.

“There is absolutely no way she can proceed with the trial of Nnamdi Kanu in view of the jurisdictional barriers created by the judgments of the Court of Appeal and that of the Federal High Court, Umuahia.

“To cap it all, the matter is also pending before the Supreme Court on appeal. No trial court can proceed with any trial that is burdened by these triple factors,” he said.
