BIAFRA : Boko Haram/ISWAP Casualties as terrorists attack Nigerian soldiers after Chadian troops’ exit

Nigerian troops have again repelled Boko Haram attacks in a deadly clash in Monguno Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State.
The terrorists have repeatedly attacked Monguno but failed in their attempts in the past to overrun the garrison town.
Intelligence sources informed PRNigeria on Wednesday that a patrol team of the Operation Lafiya Dole engaged Boko Haram and Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists after they were attacked near Monguno town on Tuesday night.
However, re-enforcement was quickly sent from troops located in other platforms to assist in repelling the attack with casualties on both sides.
“The attack was subsequently repelled. Though there were fewer casualties on the Nigerian troops through Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices, many Boko Haram Terrorists were however eliminated during the encounter,” the source said.
Military authorities are expected to provide details on the gun battle later.
Locals have been leaving the northern part of Borno part following the withdrawal of the Chadian Army along the shores of the Lake Chad.
Some residents of Monguno, Damasak, Magumeri, Gubio who already arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno capital, had predicted that the withdrawal would result in renewed attacks by the insurgents.
Last Thursday, Chad ended its mission fighting Boko Haram in the region with the withdrawal of 1,200 soldiers.
Usman Kundiri, who has been living in Monguno since the liberation of the town by Nigerian troops told DAILY POST that he never wanted to leave Monguno but ISWAP’s reported appointment of 18 new commanders as well as the withdrawal of the Chadian troops forced him to relocate.
He said: “Our people have been living in fear owing to several attacks in this part of our world. I believe over the years, even our military have been depending on the support given by the Chad Army.
“Now they are gone and there is fear that the over 1000 troops withdrawn have caused a gap in the security of the region,” Usman said.
Ibrahim Saleh, a fisherman in Baga town also told DAILY POST that the withdrawal triggered concern at communities and informed the decision by several people to look elsewhere in search of safe haven.
“We believe the Chadian soldiers had denied terrorists power to operate around Monguno as their garrison has been very effective in repelling moves by the terrorists to attack freely,” he stated.

BIAFRA : Buhari reportedly summons Fayemi, Makinde, Abiodun, other South West Governors over new security outfit

Report reaching DAILY POST from Ibadan, the Oyo state capital indicates that President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned the six governors from the South West region to a meeting at Aso Rock.
DAILY POST gathered that the summon is connected with the launch of a new security outfit code-named Amotekun by the six governors.
It was gathered that the six governors, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) had last year agreed to establish a security outfit that will put a stop to the insecurity situation in the region.
DAILY POST gathered that Buhari has summoned the Governors to a meeting over the launch of the new security outfit billed to take place tomorrow (Thursday) in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
The launching will be presided over by Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who is the Chairman, Southwest Governors’ Forum.
Sources told DAILY POST that the Presidency asked the six governors to attend a meeting at Aso Rock Wednesday evening to discuss the details of Amotekun and why it should be allowed to fly.
The outfit, our correspondent gathered, is a local collaborative security agency jointly established by Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun states.
Its idea generated from a security summit organized by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission in July at the wake of heightened kidnapping and armed robbery mostly on highways in the region.
Its personnel will include members of the vigilante group in each state, security experts and conventional security agencies including the police and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). They are to gather intelligence and effect arrest where relevant, with the overall goal of improving security in the region.
However, all efforts made by DAILY POST to confirm the development proved abortive.
Calls put through telephone lines of Chief Press Secretaries to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Mr. Taiwo Adisa and Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Mr. Ismail Omipidan were not answered.
Also, messages sent to the duo asking them to indicate if their principals have been summoned have not been replied as of the time of filing this report.

According to the Governor, Nnamdi Kanu is using his Biafra cause to defraud gullible Igbo people.

He said, “Our people are being deceived to spend huge among of money to finance what they know nothing about while Nnamdi Kanu spend it on his personal issues.”

The Governor said he had to respond to the IPOB leader so as to let the public know his new antics, and be wary of him.
He said IPOB is acting like a dying horse, having now realised that their fraudulent activities in the name of IPOB have been exposed and that Kanu is being used to destabilise Ndigbo by deceiving people into believing that he can give them Biafra.”

BIAFRA BREAKING: Supreme Court upholds Gov. Ikpeazu’s victory

The Supreme Court on Wednesday affirmed the election of Okezie Ikpeazu as Abia State Governor.
DAILY POST had reported that an Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo state capital and headed by Justice R.A Adah, had struck out the appeal filed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the 2019 governorship election in Abia State, Alex Otti, and validated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Earlier before the appeal court judgment, a three-man panel of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia state capital, and chaired by Justice A.L. Ogumoye, had dismissed the petition filed by 2019 APGA gubernatorial candidate, Dr Alex Otti against the declaration of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.
The tribunal ruled that the petitioner failed to prove the case of over-voting, non-compliance to the INEC election guideline and the electoral act.
Alex Otti had prayed the tribunal to cancel fifteen out of the seventeen local government areas election results in Abia State, alleging that the respondents, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who was the governorship candidate of PDP, perpetrated excessive malpractice in those LGAs in the last March 9, 2019 election conducted in the state.
He, however, furthered his appeal at the Supreme Court.

BIAFRA : 2023 is Igbo’s turn – Ohanaeze reacts to Arewa Forum’s position on presidency

The apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Wednesday rubbished remarks by Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, on Igbo Presidency.
In a chat with DAILY POST, Ohanaeze’s Deputy spokesperson, Chuks Ibegbu insisted that those agitating for Biafra like the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, can’t stop the push for Igbo presidency in 2023.
ACF Secretary-General, Anthony Sani, had warned that Nigerians would be scared to elect a President from the Southeast if they are seen to be agitating for secession from Nigeria.
Sani had stressed that Igbo people are suffering from what he termed “superiority and inferiority complexes.”
According to the ACF scribe, the Southeast was playing both victim and entitled, while cautioning them that “democracy is a contest of ideas and reason and is never a bullfight.”
Sani had said: “Igbos suffer from both superiority and inferiority complexes.
“At one point, they tout their superiority by claiming to be over and above any other nationality in Nigeria because they are better at the use of their superior commercial acumen for trade.
“At another, they play the victim by crying of marginalization the most. Power in a multi-party democracy is never secured through threats and intimidation, nor is it obtained by jeremiads out of pity.
“This is because democracy is a contest of ideas and reason and is never a bullfight.
“Igbos cannot agitate for separation and hanker for president by still expecting the country would not be scared of voting them for the presidency.
“Igbos may wish to recall that Senator McCain lost the elections because he had [Mrs Palin] who was governor of the state of Alaska. This was also because her husband was accused of attending a meeting of separatists who wish the state of Alaska to leave [the] USA and join Russia.
“I do not see how somebody from Scotland, Catalan, Quebec, Aceh or Xinjiang could dream of being voted president of their countries. Reason: Such a person would most likely play Gorbachev.”
However, Ibegbu said: “What Sani said is rubbish because what Boko Haram is talking about, is it not secession?
Boko Haram is talking about Islamic Caliphate, but it did not stop Buhari from becoming a President.
“What Sani said has no meaning, its complete ‘brabadash.’ Boko Haram did not stop Buhari so those agitating for Biafra like IPOB can’t stop us from becoming President in 2023. I insist, 2023 is our turn to become president.”
On the issue of cabal in the presidency as admitted by President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Ibegbu said: “You can’t stop cabal anywhere. Cabal can be found even in our houses.”

BIAFRA : NEWS2023 Afenifere chieftain, Okurounmu attacks Pastor Bakare for asking Buhari to choose his successor

Senator Femi Okurounmu, a chieftain of the Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere has berated Pastor Tunde Bakare for asking President Muhammadu Buhari to choose his successor.
Okurounmu warned that it was not the duty of an incumbent president to decide his successor, stressing that such a plan was aimed at destabilizing Nigeria’s democracy.
Recall that Bakare, who is the Senior Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Lagos in a state of the Nation broadcast asked Buhari to be involved in picking his successor in 2023.
Bakare, who also identified Nigeria’s real enemies, had warned of the possibility of looters taking over if the president did not deliberately plan and determine who his successor would be.
However, Okurounmu warned Buhari against heeding such advice, stressing that it was the duty of Nigerians to decide their next president.
Addressing journalists in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Afenifere chieftain urged the president to “pack his loads” at the end of his tenure and “allow the people themselves to choose who they want as their next ruler.”
Okurounmu said: “I read through the whole so-called state of the nation broadcast. The only thing I agree with, in the statement is that Nigeria is rotten from top to bottom. His analysis of how rotten Nigeria is, is accurate.
“But when he then goes on to say that it is not by accident that Buhari is the president at this time, that God has put him in a place where he can restore Nigeria to a place where all of us can be proud to call ourselves Nigerians, I think he’s living in a fool’s paradise; because you cannot ask a man who is lame as your representative to come and run 100 metres dash when you know he cannot move.
“Our experience with Buhari in the last five years of his administration has shown Buhari to be the very opposite of the kind of man Bakare is asking Buhari to be. The man has shown himself to be the greatest divider that Nigeria has known in terms of being a leader.
“So, the kind of expectations that Tunde Bakare is now pretending or asking Buhari to do, he knows Buhari cannot do it. Now, he asks Buhari to put in place a succession plan. Number one, it is not the duty of the current president or incumbent president to determine his own successor because that is one of the things that destabilizes democracy.”
