Taraba Senator, Bwacha questions Army over killing of 3 policemen

The lawmaker, who represents Taraba South in the National Assembly revealed that eyewitnesses at the scene of the tragedy alleged that the bus conveying the detectives was chased by a private Sharon car and not that of the military.    Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Emmanuel Bwacha, has described the attack and killing of three policemen and a civilian by Nigeria Army as a “very embarrassing occurrence in the history of our country.”        He said this while calling for the setting up of an Independent Panel of Inquiry to probe the incident which happened on the Ibi-Jalingo highway in Taraba State. Boko Haram: Nigeria moves to deradicalize former fighters

Nigeria's Operation Safe Corridor aims to facilitate the rehabilitation of ex-insurgents. However, many victims remain hostile towards those attempting to reintegrate into society.   The initiative was first proposed at the Nigerian National Security Council (NSC) meeting in September 2015, after which repentant Boko Haram members were encouraged to surrender and embrace peace. Hundreds of former insurgents, who either surrendered or were captured during clashes with Nigerian security forces, are currently undergoing the process of deradicalization in line with the government's Operation Safe Corridor.   Since 2011, the Boko Haram insurgency has killed over 50,000 people and displaced at least 2.1 million across Nigeria. The majority of their activity takes place in Borno State, including kidnappingsand reprisal attacks. The Movement for the Actualization the Sovereign State of Biafra on Tuesday condemned the killing of a Catholic priest of Enugu Diocese, Reverend Fr. A sari Dokubo, founder of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force has declared his support for the actualization of Biafra while calling on Niger Delta people to return home following threats from Arewa youths.
