Biafran currency, corpses recovered in IPOB camps raid – Military

Troops of the Joint Task Force, South-East, code-named Operation Udo Ka II, have cleared four notorious camps of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network, in Imo State.

The troops, in the course of the clearance, neutralised two IPOB/ESN members, while four were arrested.

The acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, for the Joint Task Force Operation Udo Ka II, Lt. Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, made this known in a statement issued in Enugu on Monday.

Unuakhalu said the camps cleared were located in three communities – Ihube, Aku and Umulolo – in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

He said that the clearance and recovery were carried out on Sunday, adding that troops encountered a large quantity of Improvised Explosive planted en route to the camps.

According to him,  due to superior firepower, the separatist group members fled into the forests with gunshot wounds.

“It was discovered that the camps were being used to perpetuate atrocities such as cannibalism, occultic practices and ritual killings to instill fears in law-abiding citizens.
