I feanyi Ejiofor, a counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has said that legal action will be taken against the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly arresting a young woman, Idara Gold in Enugu on Monday.
Gold, a young self-proclaimed Biafra activist from Mbiafun Nkwono in
Akwa Ibom State, dressed in an attire inspired by the Biafran flag to
celebrate her birthday on October 18, 2021.
She was, however, taken away alongside four other persons by a joint task force of the Nigerian security agents troops on Monday.
When SaharaReporters contacted Ejiofor, he said the secret police denied arresting her, but he and his team were making efforts to get justice for the girl.
“We are on the matter, we have called the DSS in charge of the case. They denied having her in their custody. We are on it, we have made contact with somebody, one of the family members of the persons arrested. We are on it and preparing to take action against it,” Ejiofor said.
All attempts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe Ekea were futile as his mobile line could not be reached.
Similarly, Nigerian Army personnel had arrested a veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu early in October in Onitsha, Anambra State. When he was released, the DSS re-arrested him and flew him to its headquarters in Abuja.
He later regained his freedom when as he was released to the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Emeka Rollas.
