German Lawmaker, Hunko Says Buhari Government Needs Dialogue, Not Military Solution For Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu

The German politician also promised that the Angela Merkel-led government will help to find a remedy to prevent worsening military problems in the country

A member of the German Parliament, Andrej Hunko has said there should be dialogue in Nigeria regarding the secession agitation of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and not a military solution.

The German politician also said he will try to make it an issue in the German parliament.

Hunko said this during an interview he granted Mirror African Diaspora, which was posted on Twitter by Biafra Twitter on Thursday.

Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor was also called to the interview.

Hunko spoke about the declaration of IPOB as terrorist organisation by the Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian government and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu as the leader of a terrorist organisation.

He, however, added that the European Union, United States and the United Kingdom do not share Nigeria's position that IPOB is a terrorist group.

"As far as I understood, there is no support for this position of the Nigerian government," he said.

He said, "I try to follow the situation. I try to understand what is the position of the German government. I think I can try to follow the position of the EU which could be an important player in the whole process and I can make a request on my request on my government, make it an issue in the German parliament. That's my position and situation at the moment."

"There has to be a dialogue solution in Nigeria and not a military solution," he added.
