BIAFRA NEWS : IPOB declares war on ‘Mkpurummiri’ consumers, distributors in South-East

 Biafrans

The Indigenous People of Biafra has declared war against methamphetamine consumers in the South-East and its environs.

Media and Publicity Secretary of the secessionist group, Emma Powerful, disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Describing youth consumption of the drug known as Mkpurummiri in local parlance as an ugly trend, the Biafra agitators asked communities to monitor where such drugs were being sold in their localities and report to IPOB offices nearest to them.

The statement read in part, “We the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra notes with utter displeasure, a very ugly and disturbing trend among some youths in Biafra land who have resorted to the consumption of a destructive hard drug methamphetamine known as “Mkpurummiri”. This development is very strange and completely unacceptable.

“It is this same hard drug that renders Almajiris in the North useless, and we won’t allow this madness to creep in or fester among Biafran youths. We observe how the Department of State Services was using Mkpurummiri to create many problems among the North that metamorphosed into Alamajiri and janjaweed in the North.

“We won’t allow that to happen here in the regions; we encourage every community to have departments to checkmate those selling and taking Mkpurummiri.”

While accusing some security agencies of complicity in the racketeering of the hard drug, IPOB said, “Communities must ensure they report those involved in this madness to IPOB office for proper torturing because we don’t want this into our territory.

“IPOB hereby declare war against this nonsense. We shall go after those taking or distributing this harmful illicit drug. Henceforth, anyone found peddling, consuming or in any way involved in the distribution of this illicit drug shall be decisively dealt with.

“Biafran youths are known for their enterprising spirit and diligence. IPOB will not allow evil men and unpatriotic elements to ruin or destroy the future of our youths with Mkpurummiri.”

While commending communities who had risen to curb the menace, IPOB solicited useful information from the public about those behind the distribution of the drug so they would be dealt with accordingly.

IPOB: The Nigerian Civil War, commonly known as the Biafran War

THE HISTORY OF BIAFRA AND NIGERIA WAR  Israel, Nigeria and the Biafra civil war    The Nigerian Civil War , commonly known as the Biafran War (6 July 1967 – 15 January 1970), was a war fought between the government of Nigeria and the secessionist state of Biafra. Biafra represented nationalist aspirations of the Igbo people, whose leadership felt they could no longer coexist with the Northern-dominated federal government. The conflict resulted from political, economic, ethnic, cultural and religious tensions which preceded Britain's formal decolonization of Nigeria from 1960 to 1963. Immediate causes of the war in 1966 included a military coup, a counter-coup and persecution of Igbo living in Northern Nigeria. Control over the lucrative oil production in the Niger Delta played a vital strategic role. Within a year, the Federal Government troops surrounded Biafra, capturing coastal oil facilities and the city of Port Harcourt. The blockade imp...
