Bamidele Salam, the
member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo in the
House of Representatives has described the indefinite suspension of
Twitter operations in Nigeria as an encroachment on the right to free

The lawmaker, in a post via his Twitter handle, stated that he was totally against the suspension by the Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government.
He tweeted, “Just before dark. I am totally against this Twitter ban by @MBuhari, the Nigerian President.

DAILY POST reports that the Federal Government through the Ministry of Information and Culture had on Friday announced the indefinite suspension of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter in Nigeria.
The suspension was announced by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed in a statement issued in Abuja who cited the persistent use of the platform for activities that are
capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.
