A Civil Society Organization, Concerned Nigerians Group, CNG, has expressed reservation on the action of the Federal Government over the suspension of Twitter operations in the country.
It noted that at this material time of security challenges, Nigerians continue to hope for peace in parts of the country. THE RESTORATION OF BIAFRA NATION
The convener of the group, Comrade Deji Adeyanju, in a statement described the action of the present administration in suspecting the Twitter operations as a deliberate act to silence the voice of the media, stressing that the action was taken too far.
The group, therefore, condemned in strong terms the suspension of the Twitter operations by the federal government.

According to the group, “Twitter and Internet shutdowns in general are increasingly becoming a tool for governments all over the world to silence media reporting and restricting the fundamental right of citizens to have free access to information.”
The statement stressed that information is essential for the functioning of modern societies and access to information denotes the right of citizens to obtain information regarding how they are governed.
According to the group, there is the need for President Muhammadu Buhari to without any delay lift the ban on Twitter, pointing out that freedom of Information Act allows openness and transparency in public governance.
Recall that the Federal Government had suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.
