The Prophet died on his way to the hospital on Saturday, after conducting a church service.

The controversial cleric was born June 12, 1963, and planned to mark his 58th birthday with fasting and prayer next Saturday.

“June 12 is around the corner. As you know, I’m a man of the people. So, the wound of one is the wound of all,” he wrote in a Facebook message on Friday.

He added: “therefore, let us dedicate this day to prayer and fasting. Don’t forget the needy.”

Joshua also made it clear he was not planning any elaborate ceremony “under the present circumstances”.

The preacher who shot to prominence with miracles aired on his Emmanuel TV, was also a well-known philanthropist.

His wealth is estimated to be around $15 million.

“As things stand, you may have realised it will not be easy for me to celebrate my birthday under the present circumstances. Some of the people who want to come are troubled by the situation all over the world. We see their fear and their worry. I feel their pain; I feel their worry,” he added.
