The Indegenous People of Biafra IPOB has lost the bid to reverse
proscription of IPOB by the Federal Government at the Federal High
Court.
According to report, the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High, Justice Abdu Kafarati, resolved all the three issues tendered before the court against the proscribed group.
Justice Kafarati squashed the contention of IPOB’s lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, that the group is not registered in Nigeria and could not be sued in Nigeria.
Justice Kafarati likened IPOB to a foreign who could be arrested when he commits a crime in another country. The judge also held that the issuance of the proscription order by him in chambers following an ex parte application was in accordance with the provisions of the Terrorism Prevention Act.
The judge awarded the sum of N500 as cost against IPOB.
