BIAFRA NEWS : IPOB urges S-East residents in Abuja to show support for Kanu by appearing in court

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday, urged South East residents in Abuja to come out on February 2nd, 2022 in solidarity with its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as he appears in court. IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, entitled, “Biafrans in Abuja and its environs should solidarize with our patriots due for a court appearance on February 2, 2022.”, said they cannot be abandoned because the allegation leveled against them does not infringe on the law of Nigeria.  IPOB statement read: “We are the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, under the command of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. We want to inform all Biafrans that the following gentlemen of our movement: Mazi Chidebere Onwudiwe, Mazi David Nwawuishi, Mazi Bright Ishinwa Chimezie, and Mazi Benjamin  Madubugwu will be in court over the frivolous and empty charges preferred against them by the federal government of Nigeria on the 2nd of February 2022. BIAFRA NEWS : Asari Dokubo warned to stop attacks on Nnamdi Kanu immediately

Human Rights Writers Association, HURIWA, has told a former Niger Delta militant leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, to be sensitive and stop his alleged garrulous attacks on the rule of law which is geared towards undermining leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. HURIWA said it strongly condemns the insensitive, callous and irrationally calculated attempt by the ex-militant leader to intentionally influence the outcome of the trial of Nnamdi Kanu. “We condemn the systematic campaign of calumny by Mr. Dokubo targeting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” HURIWA said in a statement signed by Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, its national coordinator. “We think that his constant media outbursts seeking to undermine the defense that maybe put up by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the Court is totally unconstitutional, primitive, tendentious, provocative and animalistic.” The group said that Asari Dokubo must be called to order, adding that Nigeria has become virtually a banana republic u...

BIAFRA NEWS : Digging into IPOB and What It Represents

Since the Nigerian Civil War in 1967 fought between the Nigerian government and the separatist Biafra state, there has been a distinct movement designed to enshrine the liberation of the South Eastern states which fall under the Biafra region. This fight in a contemporary setting has largely been shaped by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)- an organization centered around fulfilling the vision of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu- the Biafran leader during the Civil War. Consequently, this has led to conflict with the Nigerian government who balk at its separatist philosophy. We offer an insight into the organization and what makes it tick. What Is The Origin Story Of IPOB? The birth of the IPOB movement can be traced to a secessionist movement that started in the 1960s. Led by Lt. Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu, the movement posited itself as representing the interests of the South East region who felt marginalized by the central government dominated by leaders from the Nort...

biafra news : The trouble with IPOB’s sit-at-home orders, By Rudolf Ogoo Okonkwo

The limit of sit-at-home comes when it begins to crush a man’s testicles.   If the sit-at-home were voluntary and sparingly used, it would have bestowed credibility on the argument of the general acceptance of the Biafran goals. All it required was to keep winning hearts and souls, as more and more people joined the action. But our people have no such patience. They want it now – nzogbu-nzogbu. Using the threat of bodily harm to enforce the sit-at-home order, you lose the moral right to argue that it is a referendum by another name.   In all of his 69 to 79 years in this world, how many times has Bola Tinubu, the man who could be the next president of Nigeria, visited the South-East? I guess that it may not be up to a dozen times. He didn’t go there to school, compete in debates, quiz or Koran recital challenges. He surely didn’t go there on a school excursion to visit a major dam or a game reserve. Who wants to cross the Niger River just to visit Ogbunike ...
