BIAFRA NEWS : I Have Nothing to bequeath to my children after office as president – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has told his immediate family, particularly, his children that he is not leaving anything for them to inherit.

Buhari, who is expected to bow out of office as President in May 2023, insisted that the only legacy he hopes to bequeath to them is proper education.

The President, who was speaking on the importance of effective education, implored parents to inculcate right values in children, including deep fear of God, respect for constituted authorities and living a purposeful life through continuous education.

His comment comes amidst the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other sister unions.

While the President recently told ASUU that enough was enough regarding their prolonged strike, the leadership of the Union replied him, “describing the charge from the presidency as mere ranting without understanding the grasp of the issues that necessitated the strike”.

The unions have locked horns with the government for over five months over agreements associated with a unified payment platform and other sundry issues on emoluments.

But, Buhari in his admonition, charged the youth to seek education, not for government jobs which are unavailable but to arm themselves with skill and ability to fight poverty and to meet the needs of the 21st Century.

He said this on Wednesday, at the Emir of Daura’s Palace where he went to pay Sallah homage.

According to him, more time should be given to the coaching of the future leaders, with basic knowledge of moral values, as the fast changing world, driven by new technology, would be more competitive and demanding.

“I was locked up for more than three years, after leading the country. At that point, I realised and I told my children that your net worth is what is in your head, not what you have acquired in life.

“My focus has always been on training the children to be relevant wherever they find themselves. I told my children, particularly the girls, that they can only get married after getting a first degree.

“They already know that I am not leaving anything for anyone to inherit. My greatest legacy to the children is to ensure they are properly educated,” he said.

The President noted that the younger children should be guided and taught history, as they would find it hard to be patriotic, responsible and respectful, without a thorough understanding of their backgrounds.

“Whoever does not have a good sense of history will easily make mistakes.

“We should ensure the children get proper education. The knowledge they acquire should not be towards getting government jobs. We don’t have jobs in government anymore. With technology, governments are becoming smaller, nimble and efficient.

“Emphasis should now be on skills acquisition and competence in creation and deployment of technology. During the Covid-19, we asked all level 12 downward to stay at home, and surprisingly the systems worked effectively,” the President noted.

President Buhari told the Emir of Daura, Dr Faruk Umar Faruk, that he will be more regular in visits, preparatory to the handing over in May, 2023, adding that the prolonged absence was due to the demands of his office.

“This is the longest I have been away from home. In fact, the Emir took to the court of public opinion at the prayer ground, when he openly told everyone that I had not visited Daura for close to a year,” he added.

President Buhari said all Nigerians must make sacrifices to move the country forward, especially the public servants, calling for more selflessness and inclusion.

“In the end, it is only God that can reward your efforts, not man,” he said.

In his remarks, Governor Aminu Bello Masari listed the achievements of the President to include social security, which was created to cater for the poor, and ensure that they receive some money at the end of every month.

“No government in the history of this country has done more to reduce poverty like President Buhari’s administration. He asked religious and community leaders to bring enlightenment to bear on successful government programs such as the Social Investment Program, SIP through which 120,000 poor citizens in 12 Local Government Areas of the state receive a monthly payment of N5,000 and this is happening in all the states.

“Today, we have over 863,000 children in the state being fed under the school feeding program. This has created 10,000 jobs for women cooks, 14,000 young men and women enrolled in N-Power.

“We have food vendors who are engaged and earning their livelihood. All the foolish talk on social media is by those who only think of themselves. Our elites are never happy or appreciative until something gets to their pockets,” he said.

BIAFRA NEWS : 2023, Casting vote better than going to church, mosque – Kanayo Kanayo [VIDEO]

Veteran actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has said that Nigerians who are yet to get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) are part of the problem in the country.

The movie star said this via a video shared on his Instagram page.

Kanayo noted that Nigerians have the power to save the country by going to vote, rather than going to church or mosque to pray.

Highlighting the problems in the country, the 60-year-old actor pleaded with Nigerians, who collect money from politicians to cast their vote, to stop being cheap, adding that the state of the nation calls for urgent action.

Kanayo said: “Please stop being cheap by selling your votes; the current state of our country calls for immediate action if we must save our father land. People are being kidnapped and prisoners set free to go and continue their evil enterprise, the list is endless.

“You and I have the power to save our country. No one can do it but you. Do not say your vote will not count.

“First, go and perform your civic responsibility of casting your vote.

“Going to vote is better than going to church or mosque. Do not misunderstand me. If you’re going to church and there’s a security situation, how will you get there?

“Everything is not all about prayer, there’s no Jesus Name where they are voting, that is why you have been saying In Jesus Name and these guys have been doing the same thing.    “There is no voting on social media. It is a physical exercise. If by now you have not gotten your PVC, you’ve become part of the problem of this country.”

BIAFRA NEWS : 2023, What I’ll do if Peter Obi wins presidential election – El-Rufai’s son, Bashir

A son of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai Bashir, has disclosed what he will do if the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, wins the 2023 election.

Bashir promised to climb two of the highest rocks in Nigeria if Obi wins the presidential election.

He promised to climb Aso Rock, Zuma Rock and write “Bashir El-Rufai is a goat” if Obi wins the next presidential election.

A Twitter user identified as CJMOOREPLUG had tweeted: “Even if you don’t say it out, it’s very obvious from the way the person smiles lately on TV. APC and PDP are jokers. Since 1998 nothing has changed in Nigeria. The 2023 election will be different. It is either Peter Obi or everyone move on, we can’t continue like this.”

Responding, Bashir tweeted: “If Peter ever becomes President of Nigeria, I promise to climb Zuma Rock and Aso Rock to paint ‘Bashir El-Rufai is a goat’.

“It’ll be on the famous face etched on the rock so everyone can see, and in a font and colour that grasps attention, and at night it’ll glow in the dark. Save this tweet.”

Obi, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, joined Labour Party.

The former Anambra State governor clinched LP presidential ticket.

BIAFRA NEWS : Peter Obi’s running mate, Baba-Ahmed under fire over Muslim, northerner comment

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the running mate of Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has come under serious attack in Zamfara State over his comment that he won’t like to be called a Muslim or northerner.

According to one Yusuf Abubakar, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is not proud of his religion and tribe, saying that for him to warn that he won’t accept to be referred to as a Muslim or northerner means he is ungrateful to the Almighty.

“If he has publicly said that he does not support tribalism, then nobody would comment on that because tribalism can destroy the entire country,” he added.

Another person who granted an interview to DAILY POST, Babangida Ahmed, said that Baba-Ahmed has destroyed his political career in the north, saying that with such utterances, northerners may not cast their votes for Labour Party in 2023.

According to him, Obi is proud to be a Catholic even with the verbal attacks of Rev. Mbaka. Obi openly stated that he remains loyal to the Church and he has never disowned his identity as an Igbo man.

“Does this mean some of us are not comfortable or feel ashamed to be associated with our blessed religion of Islam or our noble background as people from Northern Nigeria?

“I hope he was misquoted out of context, otherwise he better look for supporters elsewhere,” he said.

Recall that the embattled Labour Party’s vice-presidential candidate recently granted an interview to BBC News where he allegedly made the comments.

BIAFRA NEWS : Buhari should resign, hand over to Osinbajo – Northern Elders spokesman, Baba-Ahmed

The spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.

Baba-Ahmed said Buhari should just resign now because things would get tougher.

The former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Secretary gave the advice in reaction to the President’s revelation that he is eager to leave power.
Buhari spoke when he hosted some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, legislators and chieftains at his Daura home in Katsina.

Noting that he has less than a year left in office, the Nigerian leader assured that he would do his best in the remaining months.

“I wish the person who is coming after me the very best. I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough”, he said.

Reacting, Baba-Ahmed told Buhari that it’s not too late to throw in the towel.

“President Buhari told APC Govs that he is looking forward to the end of his tenure, saying it has been tough.

“Who would remind him that he does not need to wait until May 29th, 2023? Who will tell him it looks like things will only get tougher?”, he tweeted.

In response to a Twitter user who said Buhari “doesn’t listen to mad men”, the former permanent secretary said: “Please tell him yourself.

“You will be doing us all a great favour. Remind him he is elected to perform governance functions like protecting citizens.

“If he will not, or cannot, he can yield the office to his Vice until 2023.Then he can start resting now. That’s how it works.”

BIAFRA NEWS : Cut and run not solution – Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer replies Buhari

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has mocked President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent comment.

Ejimakor said “cut and run” was not the solution to the challenges Buhari may be experiencing in office.

Buhari had said he can’t wait to leave office in 2023 because it has been tough.

The President spoke when he hosted some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, legislators and chieftains at his Daura home in Katsina.

Noting that he has less than a year left in office, the Nigerian leader assured that he would do his best in the remaining months.

“I wish the person who is coming after me the very best. I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough”, he said.

Reacting, Ejimakor said the problems of Nigeria had gone beyond tough but irredeemable.

In a tweet, the Special Counsel lamented that Nigeria is divided along ethnic and religious lines.

He insisted that running away would not fix the problems confronting Nigeria.

“Buhari cries out: ‘I am eager to go, Nigeria has been tough’. No sir. Nigeria is beyond tough; it’s irredeemably divided along ethnic & religious lines. And the fix is not to ‘cut & run’ but to summon the will to put Nigeria to a vote,” he tweeted.

BIAFRA NEWS : Jailbreak, Terrorists attacked Kuje prison to eliminate our members – IPOB alleges

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, reacted to the invasion of the correctional facility in the Kuje area of Abuja by terrorists.

IPOB alleged that the attack was a plot by terrorists to eliminate members of the group incarcerated in the facility.

Gunmen believed to be Boko Haram members had invaded the Kuje prison on Tuesday with explosives.

The terrorists had released all their members incarcerated in the facility.

Reacting to the attack, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, warned that nothing must happen to members of the group incarcerated at the facility.

Powerful warned that IPOB would not take it easy with the Nigerian Government if anything happens to members of the group incarcerated in the Kuje facility.

A statement by Powerful reads partly: “We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to draw the world’s attention to the Nigeria Government and its security agencies, especially the Army and DSS agents’ instruction to the bandits rampaging the North to attack the Kuje correctional centre in Abuja.

“The Nigeria security agencies, especially the military and DSS agents in a covert action detailing a systematic strategy to eliminate IPOB members detained in Kuje prison and yesterday’s attack has confirmed our earlier intel.

“We want to let the world know that IPOB members were profiled and detained in Kuje prison yards for simply being persons indigenous to Biafra and of Igbo race.

“We have their details and want them alive because if anything untoward happens to our comrades who are detained in Kuje, IPOB will never take it easy with Nigeria Government and her security agencies.

“It is high time to release these innocent folks who were detained illegally and unjustly, Nigeria cannot continue to detain them indefinitely while allowing terrorists and bandits to come and slaughter them under disguised arrangements by the Buhari-Fulani administration.”
