Cubana Chief Priest speaks on Obi Cubana’s EFCC arrest
Pascal Okechukwu aka Cubana Chief Priest has reacted to the arrest of his friend Anambra State-born philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana.
had reported that Obi Cubana was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday.
Obi Cubana was arrested and brought to the EFCC headquarters on Monday afternoon over allegations of money laundering and tax fraud.
Reacting, Cubana Chief Priest called on the anti-graft agency to free Obi Cubana, adding that Igbos are used to the EFCC treatment.
He wrote on Instagram, ”What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, we Igbos are used to this. #freeobicubana.”
Cubana posts on Instagram as overnight EFCC stay confirms ‘serious case’
The overnight stay of Obi Cubana at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) means the agency has a serious case against him.
There are indications that the socialite has been released as he posted on his Instagram handle 4pm on Tuesday.
“I love you all, Unbroken”, the caption read.
A security source told that spending the night in EFCC custody was an indication that Obi Cubana was throughly grilled.
“They have a serious case against him. Definitely. Many people have been there and left the same day.
“What I can say is: If you go to the EFCC and spend the night, they have a serious case against you”, he said.
Real name, Obinna Iyiegbu, the entrepreneur is being probed for alleged money laundering and tax fraud.
Anambra-born Obi Cubana arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, around noon on Monday.
EFCC Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, did not take
It was gathered that investigators asked Obi Cubana to provide two sureties who must be Federal Directors before he’ll be released. He was said to have fulfilled the condition.
The businessman’s popularity doubled after the July burial of his mother in Afor Uzo. It is suspected that the EFCC paid more attention to him after the high-octane event.
Anambra 2021 : Release Nnamdi Kanu, withdraw military immediately – Candidates tell Buhari
The nine governorship candidates of the various political parties in the 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra State have jointly called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The governorship election in Anambra State will be held on November 6th, 2021, and political parties such as All Progressives Congress, APC; Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and others are set for the contest.
However, there are tension and security threats in the region following the detention of Nnamdi Kanu who was said to have been illegally arrested and brought back to the country from Kenya.
There have been calls from well-meaning individuals and groups for the release of the secessionist leader, who reportedly jumped bail in 2017 when his trial for alleged treason started.
The IPOB had issued a threat saying that the incarceration of their leader would hamper the governorship election, demanding that the Buhari administration release Kanu immediately.
And in a joint statement signed by the candidates of APGA, APC, PDP, LP, AA, ADC, APM, SDP, YPP, ZLP and others, they demanded the release of Kanu.
The candidates made the appeal in response to the grave concerns earlier expressed by the South East Council of Traditional Rulers and the Representatives of Igbo Bishops and Archbishops.
They said their call also follows the tense atmosphere and general anxiety arising from recent and continuing violence in the region.
“In order to eschew all acts that may torpedo the forthcoming election, we urge the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to the South East Council of Traditional Rulers and the Representatives of Igbo Archbishops and Bishops,” the statement said.
“We urge the Federal Government to take urgent steps to demilitarize the South East Zone and stem the heightened tension, skirmishes and endless bloodletting between the security agencies and our youths.”
They also called on the IPOB not to do anything that would hinder the smooth running of the election and to cancel all scheduled sit-at-home orders.

Solders afraid of Boko Haram killing Biafrans – IPOB fires back Army
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has claimed that the Nigerian Army is responsible for the killings and general insecurity in the Southeast.
IPOB alleged that soldiers of the Nigerian Army masterminded most of the killings in the Southeast.
The separatist group made the remark in reaction to claims by the Nigerian Army that its militia arm, Eastern Security Network, ESN, is responsible for the killings in the region
.
In a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB alleged that soldiers who are afraid to fight Boko Haram terrorists are killing “Biafrans” in the Southeast.
According to Powerful: “Following the frustration of the Nigeria military deployed to the South East, and their claim that IPOB and ESN are responsible for the numerous attacks, killings and burning down of people’s properties worth billions in the region, we the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), wish to tell the world that there is no iota of truth in such fabricated allegation.
“It is rather the Nigeria military and their sister security agencies that are masterminding the ongoing secret genocide and mayhem in South East. It’s quite unfortunate that after committing these atrocities, these vampires cleverly point accusing fingers at IPOB just to cover their flanks and deceive the gullible.
“Nigeria Army is afraid of facing Boko Haram and other terrorists in the North but down here in the South they have taken over the work of the police in their desperation to kill more Biafrans. No matter how much they want to twist facts the public is already aware of their pranks.
“The serial killings going on now in the land of Biafra are masterminded by the military and they cannot deny it. There are viral videos where the Nigeria Army is demonstrating its might against innocent and hapless people of Awgu in Enugu State. Will they say those burning down houses in the said video are IPOB and ESN? We challenge them for a forensic audit of the viral video. The UN should investigate this to establish the real identity of those behind the ongoing destruction in South East.
“We wonder how Nigeria army and its security counterparts would derive joy in killing Biafrans but Boko Haram and bandits sacked them in their barracks in the North. The world will one day hold them accountable for these atrocities and crime against humanity. The truth will one day refuse to be buried.”
