I’m not a ritualist – Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo

 

Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has reacted to comments alleging that he is a ritualist.

Kanayo said that contrary to the allegation, he only interprets roles in movies.

He made the remark while responding to questions in an Instagram live chat with his fans.

 

Some Nigerians consider Kanayo O. Kanayo to be a ritualist due to the roles he plays in movies.

However, the veteran actor warned that those talking about rituals should be seen as distractions.

“We are doing something about this. Don’t leave me challenged, so all you talking about ritual, go and do rituals with yourself.

“I played a role, but the fact is some people don’t contribute anything to followership, all they want to do is cause distraction.

 “Don’t go with such people who are always there to distract you, remain focused. You notice that people who always talk about rituals are not focused.”

Nigerian celebrities; Davido, Phyno and Kcee on Friday stormed Oba, Anambra state for the burial of Obi Cubana’s mother.

Dbanj, Kanayo. O. Kanayo, Alex Ekubo, E-Money and many other influential Nigerians were also among the guests at the much talked about burial.

Several celebrities, businesspeople, including Nigerian popular socialite and Forbes rated entrepreneur, Sir Uyi Ogbebor and many politicians turned out in large number for the funeral.

The burial became a special topic among Nigerians as viral videos showed a lavish display of wealth in Oba, Anambra State, on Friday as Obi Cubana, buried his mother in grand style.

In a viral video, one of his associates, Cubana Chief Priest, gave him 46 cows in addition to several gifts showcased online.

Uyi Ogbebor was also seen in a viral video packing loads of Naira notes into a bag, awaiting the proper commencement of the event.

Obi Cubana was said to have got over N200m from friends and associates in a viral list shared on social media which  could not confirm.

The nightclub boss also purchased a diamond chain with his late mother’s face engraved on it reportedly worth $100,000.

The funeral rites started on Thursday, July 15, 2021, with a service of songs and Christian wake, followed by the burial and reception the next day at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Oba Anambra.

In one of the videos that went viral, guests were seen throwing wads of cash at each other, in the air.

Kanayo O. Kanayo also took to his Instagram page displaying bundles of N500 notes planned to spend at the party.

In what seemed like a bid to outdo one another at the burial, several guests sprayed Obi Cubana with 200, 500 and 1,000 naira notes.

The burial ceremony turned into a concert on Friday night as Davido performed his hit song ‘Fem’ to a huge crowd, alongside Kcee.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo. O. Kanayo has advised Nigerians criticising the lavish lifestyle being exhibited at Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial.

Kanayo.O.Kanayo joined the likes of Davido, Kcee, Dbanj, Alex Ekubo and other dignitaries at the burial of Cubana’s mother in Oba, Anambra State, on Friday.

The actor, in a viral video, was seen with bundles of cash as he sprayed money at the much talked about burial.

His videos have since been criticised by Nigerians online who asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take note as they questioned the source of his income and others present at the burial.

However, Kanayo , reacting in a new video on his Instagram page, asked those calling for EFCC to start hustling.

He said, “ Start to hustle, make EFCC no come your compound, pack everybody and leave you alone.”

Nightclub owner, Obi Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, has claimed that the opulence with which he buried his late mother, will “make people hungry for death”.

Cubana laid his mother to rest on Friday in Oba, Anambra, in an event that went viral on social media.

Many celebrities, business people and politicians turned out in large numbers for the funeral.

Videos from the occasion showed some of them spraying thick wads of Naira and foreign currencies, in addition to the drinks and cows that were donated to Cubana prior.

The nightclub boss also bought a diamond chain and pendant from popular jeweller, Efobi Stephen, which had his late mother’s face engraved on it. Stephen stated that Iyiegbu asked him to make a chain worth $100,000.

Socialist, Pretty Mike, has now claimed Obi Cubana had been planning the burial ceremony for his mother for a long time.

Via his Insta stories, Pretty Mike wrote, ”I remember when Obi’s wife’s father died some months back. We came for the burial. It was nothing short of a carnival. I asked him so why wait till July to bury your mum. He said let’s keep her on ice for now. She has to go out gloriously, she deserves it. I said bros stop being humble. He replied “after my mama burial ceremony, to die go dey hungry some people… Today I understand.”

Igbos react as Abba Kyari attends Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial

 

Nigerians, especially Igbos, have taken to social media criticizing the presence of Abba Kyari at Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial.

Abba Kyari, who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police and leader of the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team, was seen at the burial beside Cubana in viral pictures.

This did not go down well with Igbos who accused Kyari of being behind the killing of youths in the east.

Some Nigerians also condemned Obi Cubana for inviting someone who allegedly hates his people to his hometown.

Nnamdi Kanu is currently being detained at the DSS custody after he was rearrested and brought back to the country some weeks ago.

 Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have stormed the British Embassy in Ireland protesting the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, their leader, by the Nigerian government.

Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Kenya, East Africa, and bundled back to Nigeria a few weeks ago.

The IPOB leader, who was arraigned in court on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

The protesters also submitted a petition against the President Muhammadu Buhari government to the British embassy.

In the petition they allege an ‘Illegal detention’ of their leader, arguing that Kanu was ‘kidnapped’ from Kenya and brought back to Nigeria under suspicious circumstances.
