The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has vowed to declare war on all politicians and traditional rulers of Southeast extraction if its leader, Nnamdi Kanu remains incarcerated.
IPOB warned that Igbo politicians and traditional rulers will never have peace until Kanu regains freedom.
Emma Powerful, a spokesman for the group, issued the warning while rebuking Southeast leaders over their silence in the face of Kanu’s current travail.

Powerful wondered why Southeast leaders would not show solidarity towards Kanu like Northern leaders are allegedly doing towards bandits and terrorists.
In a statement signed by Powerful, the separatist group vowed to declare Southeast leaders who fail to identify with Kanu as enemies.
The statement reads: “All along IPOB has been peaceful while our members are being abducted and killed by security agents. Now they have abducted our leader and these so-called Biafran Leaders are keeping sealed lips. It is either they stand with the people or be counted among our enemies.
“Our leader cannot be languishing in detention while these people will pretend that all is well. Their Northern counterparts are shamelessly defending Fulani bandits and terrorists rampaging communities across the country yet these weaklings cannot speak out against the injustice against their own. Enough is enough! No more sitting on the fence. Everyone must declare his/her stance now.
“As long as our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains incarcerated in Abuja, all the politicians from ward level to federal level including traditional rulers, stakeholders and religious leaders will never have peace till he comes out except they wake up now.”
Following Kanu’s rearrest and incarceration, IPOB had vowed to deal with all politicians of Southeast extraction involved in Kanu’s current travail.
The group had also said Southeast politicians who fail to ensure Kanu regains freedom would be dealt with.
The founder of the Customary Government for the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Barrister Emeka Emekesiri, has disclosed how Nnamdi Kanu and ex-militant leader, Asari Dokubo tried to hijack the group.
Emekesiri disclosed that Kanu and Dokubo tried to hijack IPOB because the secessionist group was a good product.

He said both Kanu and Dokubo were aware of the good ideas he had for IPOB.
Emekesiri recounted how Dokubo went behind him to form a Customary government after ignoring his calls for a meeting.
Dokubo had in March 2021, announced the formation of a new Biafra Customary Government, BCG.
The former militant leader had declared himself as the leader of BCG.
A statement by Uche Mefor, Head of Information and Communication of the customary government, had said George Onyibe will be the Secretary, while Emekasiri will be responsible for legal matters.
However, Emekesiri said the BCG was formed without adhering to the original laid out plans.
“You know people say that a good product is subject to counterfeits, nobody counterfeits a bad product. They know that the product I have is a good product, they know the original vision that I have and they know it’s an excellent vision and that’s why they try to counterfeit it.
“Those who believe in what I believe, we will continue with the original IPOB, the original customary government, no matter the counterfeits because in the end the original will stand.
“Asari Dokubu once said he wanted to come into the umbrella of the customary government and I said that’s good, there is customary government instituted by the elders of which I am their spokesman or Chairman of the governing council, so I said if that is the case let us go ahead.
“While I was in Enugu, I made a move and called Asari Dokubu and requested for a meeting with Ralph Uwazuruike but Asari said he will not be able to come.
“The next thing I heard was that we were creating an implementation committee called Customary Government Implementation committee and I agreed and asked what shall we implement because we already have programmes on the ground? And the next thing I heard was an announcement that he will create 20 Biafra provinces,” he told Vanguard in response to why Kanu and Dokubo tried to take over IPOB.
Prior to his rearrest, Kanu and Dokubo had been at loggerheads over the style of Biafra agitation.
While calling Kanu a con man, the former militant leader had vowed to deal with the factional IPOB leader.
In his response, the embattled secessionist had accused Dokubo of defrauding him of N20 million.

John Campbell, a former United States, US, Ambassador to Nigeria, has reacted to the rearrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Campbell cautioned the Nigerian government on the handling of Kanu’s trial.
He issued the warning in a tweet on his official Twitter handle.
According to Campbell: “Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was apprehended abroad on June 27 and has been returned to Nigeria for trial. If the government botches Kanu’s trial, it risks further inflaming separatism.”

Kanu was apprehended on Sunday and repatriated to Nigeria to continue his trial.
The rearrest of the IPOB leader was disclosed by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
Though Malami was yet to disclose where Kanu was picked up, but family of the IPOB leader claimed he was rearrested in Kenya.
Upon his return to Nigeria, he was brought before the Justice Binta Nyako-led Abuja Federal High Court to continue his trial.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has disclosed that his abductors linked him to Islamic terrorists, Al-Shabab.
Kanu disclosed that those who abducted him said the Nigerian government told them that he was a member of Al-Shabab.
Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed this detail after the Department of State Services, DSS, allowed him access to the IPOB leader.
Ejimakor disclosed that Kanu was tortured and subjected to inhumane treatment upon his capture.
The IPOB leader is widely believed to have been rearrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria to continue his trial for treason before an Abuja Federal High Court.
However, Ejimakor said: “The people that abducted him said that they were told by their sponsors that Kanu was a Nigerian terrorist linked to the Islamic terrorists in Kenya, presumably Al-Shabab.
“But after several days when they discovered his true identity, they tended to treat him less badly. Despite that, they told him they felt committed to hand him over to those that hired them.
“Kanu was in point of fact tortured and subjected to untold cruel and inhuman treatment in Kenya. He said his abductors disclosed to him that they abducted him at the behest of Nigerian government.
“The IPOB leader was blindfolded and driven to the tarmac very close to the plane without passing through the airport immigration. The plane departed Nairobi at about 12 p.m. and arrived in Abuja in the evening.
“He was flown to Abuja in the private jet on Sunday 27th June, 2021 from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi and that he was the lone passenger,” he added.
Ejimakor stated that the circumstances surrounding Kanu’s rearrest would make it difficult for any court of law to proceed with his trial.
Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said there will be no trial of the agitator.
Ejimakor explained that no trial would hold due to the manner Kanu was rearrested and repatriated to Nigeria.
In a tweet, the defence lawyer reiterated that the upcoming trial of the IPOB leader should be opposed not monitored.
Ejimakor said those who forcefully arrested and repatriated the IPOB leader back to Nigeria would be tried.

Nigerian rapper, Zoro has urged the Federal government to release the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, on Tuesday, at an emergency media briefing in his office confirmed the arrest of Kanu.
According to him, Kanu was picked up on Sunday due to “the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services”.
Following the development, Kanu has been detained by the Department of State Services, DSS.
Reacting, the rapper in a post called for his release, noting that he has a lot to say but will like the recipients of his message “to listen to their conscience first.”
“There’s a lot I’d love to say, first is I would love our leaders to listen to their conscience and that’s only if it’s well fed shaa. Free Nnamdi Kanu,” he wrote.
