BIAFRA NEWS : Southeast youths urged to take advantage of N-Power Batch C enrolment

An advocacy group has urged unemployed youths in the South East to enrol in the recently-launched N-Power Batch C, in a bid to benefit from social intervention programmes of the federal government.

The South East Support for N-Power and Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs (SESNAM), made the call in a statement, Wednesday, by its National Coordinator, Mrs. Kamsi Uzodimma.

According to the indigenous support group, South East youths and other vulnerable persons in the zone must not be left out of the government’s poverty alleviation schemes, hence the urgent need to come out en masse to register for the programme. I want to share with you the 15 strategies I use to get tons of traffic to my blog using a cheap keyword tool.

To underscore the urgent need for full participation in the process leading to the final selection of successful candidates for the N-Power programme, SESNAM drew attention to the thousands of beneficiaries of the Batches A and B, who have since set up their businesses at different locations.

Apart from reducing unemployment in the South East, the group expressed hope that the development will also check youth restiveness, social vices and other threats to security and public safety.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq, launched the N-Power Batch C on the National Social Investment Management System (NASIMS) in Abuja on Thursday, March 11, 2021.

“We are appealing to our teeming unemployed graduates across the South-East zone of our country, to ensure that they enrol in the ongoing N-Power Batch C, as part of the poverty-alleviation initiatives of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government”, SESNAM said in the statement.

It said investigations have so far revealed that exited beneficiaries, apart from being armed with vocational skills such as tailoring, carpentry, soap-making and general trading, were also given reasonable start-up capitals, to set them up.

This, according to the support group, has had multiplier-effects on the zone’s economy, as witnessed in the increase in micro, small and medium scale businesses.

The statement reads in full: “As a productive group in our zone, we urge our young men and women to apply themselves into useful ventures, particularly windows opened to them through the various national social investment programmes of the federal government.

“The young graduates must take a cue from the now-exited beneficiaries, who have since become employers of labour, thereby reducing the incident of dependency.

“We dare say that the positive outcome of this enrolment will be felt at the socio-economic and security levels of our society, which must continue to compete favourably within the comity of geopolitical entities.

“Lastly, we commend President Buhari for opening social safety opportunities to our industrious youths, whose resilience has seen them engaging in various forms of legitimate activities, with a view to earning a living”

Rep members walk out of plenary over Twitter ban controversy

There was a rowdy session at the House of Representatives, after the Speaker, Gbajabiamila, ruled PDP caucus leader, Kingsley Chinda, out of order.

Mr Chinda had prayed that the Twitter ban imposed by the federal government be suspended in the interim. Facebook Pages and Groups are an excellent way to drive traffic. But only selected pages and groups, and that is where the hard work comes in. Because you need to search and read all page and/or post rules to find the ones that will work for you.

However, following opposition to the motion, lawmakers and some members of the PDP staged a walkout.

The lawmakers later briefed journalists at the press centre.

Chinda, the PDP caucus leader who spoke on behalf of the lawmakers said the House will move an official motion tomorrow to that effect.

He added that the motion may likely be rejected by the House, but the lawmakers will move the motion notwithstanding.

Reps move to investigate Twitter ban, summons Lai Mohammed

The House of Representatives on Tuesday, summoned the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to appear before the house to explain the reasons behind the suspension of the microblogging platform, Twitter. Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, who disclosed the summons on Tuesday at plenary, said the social media platform remains important in the country particularly amongst the youths.

reports that the Minister had last Friday, announced an indefinite ban on Twitter for allegedly allowing contents that are capable of destabilising the country.

“The House of Representatives recognises that Twitter, like other social media networks, is an important tool for communication and commerce in Nigeria, particularly amongst the younger generation who have used these networks for enterprise and innovation with great success.

“The proper role of the legislature in circumstances like this is first to peel back the layers of the decision-making process to unravel the issues until we develop an understanding of the why and the how of executive decisions.

“Following that, the legislature must make sure that regulatory and enforcement actions by the government are in accordance with the laws of the land, that due process of law has been followed to the latter and that the outcomes of regulatory decisions do not result in adverse consequences for the country and all our people.”

The House further directed the joint committees on Commerce, Information and National Ethics, as well as Justice to carry out an investigation and send in its report within 10days.

”I think the white supremacist imperialist tendencies should be curbed sometimes as much as I’m of the opinion that everybody has their rights to thought but then when a platform is used to want to cause trouble or project anarchy there should be rules regulating such practices.

”Nigeria has so many problems to contend with and Twitter wasn’t really helping,” he said.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has insisted that the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is using Twitter to destabilise Nigeria.

According to the minister, the FG’s decision to suspend Twitter was because of the constant use of the microblogging platform for actions that are capable of destroying Nigeria’s corporate existence.

Mohammed said, “The government has suspended the operations of Twitter in Nigeria indefinitely because of the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

“The main reason for this is because of the persistent use of Twitter in particular for activities that are inimical to the corporate existence of Nigeria.”

He added, “IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu in particular, his platform of choice to destabilise the country is Twitter.

“Twitter is actually the platform of choice for the separatist leader who resides outside Nigeria, but issues directives for his members to attack the symbols of authority such as policemen, soldiers, correctional centres, electoral offices and this has been done willfully and consistently without consequences always using the Twitter platform.”
