BIAFRA NEWS : I want to sit, talk with Nnamdi Kanu – Abia Gov, Ikpeazu

The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has declared that he has no grudges against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The governor, who spoke during an interview with newsmen in Umahia, the state capital, said he was ready to engage the Biafra freedom fighter on how security would be restored in the state and other parts of Southeast. HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE

Governor Ikpeazu while reacting to the activities of the IPOB members, who were accused of attacking security operatives in the state, said violence would not bring the expected change.

The governor called for dialogue between the secession agitators and the government to address their grievances, stressing that, “if there are things you want us to vocalize about the way things are going in this country, raise the tune a little bit, I think there are people who are willing to say that and do that”.

According to him, “I am not going to engage Nnamdi on the grounds of IPOB, but I can speak to citizen Nnamdi who happens to be an Abian but not on the basis or affiliation with IPOB. I’m going to speak to Nnamdi on the basis of the fact that I am the governor of Abia State and he is a citizen of Abia State.

“But again, why won’t I discuss with anybody? I don’t have anything personal against Nnamdi and I don’t think he has anything personal against me. But all of us are saying the same thing to the extent that there is injustice, there is marginalization, we are saying the same thing. Our point of divergence is the approach.

“If you’re taking up arms against the Nigerian nation, what capacity do you have to conclude it? Because I’m not a suicide candidate and I saw a bit of the civil war and I don’t want to get people on a boat that is sailing to nowhere. He is entitled to his opinion, views and approach, but I’m also saying to him, that as a young boy who went to Maiduguri at the age of 16, the boundaries of the South East and Northern Nigeria is not in Umuahia or Ubakala Police Station, neither is it in Bende or Ohafia.

“Fighting in the kitchen is one of the indices that define lack of appreciation of the first rule of human existence which is self-preservation, because after the fight in the kitchen, with which pot and plate are you going to eat? Is it possible that while you’re fighting in your kitchen with your kinsmen, that your real enemies could be sitting somewhere drinking Champaign and be laughing at your lack of understanding and love among yourselves?

“If you have a perceived enemy and you embark on such a voyage and your son kills you, your enemy will just attend your funeral and save his gunpowder for another enemy. I think there is a need for a good reason to prevail. Let’s sit down and talk about it.

“For me, I think we need to change a few things in this country and I think we need to be smart about the way we change it. There is somebody who said that those who resort to violence have exhausted the capacity of their intelligence to resolve the matter. I don’t think we have exhausted the capacity of our intelligence to resolve the matter. Violence cannot be the first option”.

BIAFRA NEWS : Twitter ban You’ll destroy Buhari govt with your mouth – Omokri fires back at Lai Mohammed

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has warned that Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, will destroy the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Lai Mohammed had, while reacting to the decision of Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, to defy the ban on Twitter in Nigeria, said the power to decide who to prosecute lies with the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. website traffic after I tried all the free SEO tactics,

He stated this in an interview with BBC Africa Focus on Monday night, when asked if Adeboye will be prosecuted for using Twitter.

Recall that Adeboye had justified his use of Twitter with Article 19 of the United Nations, UN, Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

In a tweet, the RCCG General Overseer said the church is domiciled in over 70 countries of the world, hence the need to continue tweeting.

However, Mohammed insisted that Nigerians who accessed Twitter, including Adeboye, after the ban, would be prosecuted.

And reacting to Lai Mohammed’s comment, Omokri said Lai Mohammed will destroy the Buhari government with his mouth more than Buhari’s enemies.

“He has succeeded in alienating Nigerians from their government. He is meant to be an Image-maker, but has ended up as a damage-maker,” part of the tweet read.

Oil prices and FX reserves, Nigeria Weekly Update June 7 2021,

The link has been updated and we apologize for any inconveniences caused.

Do have a good day.

Thank you

Oil prices and FX reserves

One can almost hear the sigh of relief coming from Abuja.  Oil prices are up and the immediate threat to the nation’s foreign exchange reserves has receded. Markets (long-dated bonds and equities) have responded positively. However, inflation is still far above risk-free rates and the unofficial exchange rate is slipping. The game is not yet won. BIAFRA NEWS : Insecurity, Northern elders advise kinsmen to leave South-East

Insecurity: Southwest alone cannot tackle herdsmen crisis – Northern Elders

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has urged Northerners that are prone to attacks in the South-East to return to their States in the North. BIAFRA NEWS : Igbos can leave Nigeria – Northern elders on war threats

Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Director, Publicity and Advocacy, gave the advice in a statement on Monday.

The “unknown gunmen”, linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), are on rampage across the region as border communities continue to witness bloody conflicts, farmers-herders clashes persist, with incidences of religious and ethnic profiling.

Buhari must stop killing of Northerners, herdsmen in Southern Nigeria – NEF

The forum demanded that attacks and killings of Northerners and Federal Government employees and destruction of National assets must stop.

“Those who have been involved in it must be arrested and prosecuted”, the elders demanded.

The NEF said until the Igbo decide whether it wants to secede or remain part of Nigeria, the law applies to them.

They want Federal and State authorities who have responsibility to enforce the law and protect citizens to take actions.

“We support calls for Northerners who are exposed to harassment and violence to consider relocating to the North”, NEF asserted.

Northern elders declare position on open grazing ban, call for national dialogue

Baba-Ahmed said unlike “the postures and complacency” of South East leaders, all Igbo and other ethnic groups residing in the North should be accorded the usual hospitality and security.

The Northern elders, however, knocked National Assembly members for being out of touch “with the people they are supposed to represent”.

The NEF told the federal legislature to explore additional avenues that can help redress serious limitations to the federal system before the 2023 elections.

They added that it is willing to discuss all matters relating to constitutional amendments and restructuring with the leadership of the country and other groups, “who see their presence in the future of Nigeria”.

BIAFRA NEWS : Igbos can leave Nigeria – Northern elders on war threats

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) says it has reviewed events and tendencies which suggest that the country is headed for more crises amid the calls for Biafra, security challenges, among others.

NEF said the capacity of the Nigerian State to secure citizens, protect the country’s territorial integrity and resist violent assaults is weakening to the levels of making threats that have no impact.

The elders lamented that armed criminals have increased their audacious stranglehold on the country.

They added that irredentists are increasingly asserting their influence in the South East and some other parts. BIAFRA NEWS : Twitter ban, I’m number three on list of defaulters – Dino Melaye

Northern elders declare position on open grazing ban, call for national dialogue

Their statement said all Nigerians are paying the price of failure of two sets of leaders.

“At the national level, the administration appears to have lost the capacity to halt the gradual descent of the country into anarchy. Political leaders in the South East appear to have submitted to violence and terror of IPOB and ESN.”

The NEF said it appeared the secession demand by Igbo represents the popular choice.

“This nation has had to fight a terrible war to preserve the country. The North had paid its dues in that war, as indeed it did in many ways throughout the history of the country.”

Baba-Ahmed noted that under the current circumstances, no Nigerian should welcome another war to keep the country together.

The Northern leaders said the region has more than enough challenges, admitting they recognize that violent secession by any part of Nigeria will compound the problems all citizens live with.

The Forum declared that: “If support for secession among the Igbo is as widespread as it is being made to look, and Igbo leadership appears to be in support of it, then the country should be advised not to stand in its way.”

Baba-Ahmed, however, said it will not be the best choice for the Igbo or other Nigerians to leave a country all toiled to build and have the responsibility to fix.

“It will not help a country already burdened with failures on its knees to fight another war to keep the Igbo in Nigeria”, the statement added.
