BIAFRA NEWS: Ohanaeze warns Buhari govt over alleged ‘shoot at sight order’ on Igbo youths

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has strongly warned against an alleged “Shoot at Sight Order” given to the Nigerian soldiers as a way to engage the Igbo youths in the oncoming week.

Reports emerged at the weekend concerning the new secret plan which would commence from Orlu in Imo State.  HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE FREE SITE

reports that the Army is yet to react to the said order.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo had now described it as “very disturbing”, lamenting the pattern of deployment of northern-muslim military officers to the Eastern region, which according to the organisation, lends credence to the alleged plot to commence ‘Shoot at Sight’ on Igbo youth.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation pointed to the fact that the Nigerian army has posted Northern Muslims as commanders over its operations and brigades in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Benue, Edo, Delta and Rivers.

“In Anambra State, the Cantonment Commandant of the 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, is Col Abdulsalam Abubakar Sambo, a Hausa-Fulani Muslim; while in Imo State, the Brigade Commander of 34 Brigade, Obinze, is Brig Gen Ibrahim Tukura, another northerner; in Abia State, the Brigade Commander of 14 Brigade, Ohafia, is Brig Gen M. Ibrahim, still, a northerner; while in Akwa Ibom State, the Brigade Commander of 2 Brigade, Uyo, is Brig Gen Faruk Mijinyawa, another northerner,” Ohanaeze said, describing this as “truly worrisome!”

In a statement signed by Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the President-General of the organisation, Ambassador Prof. George Obiozor, admonished the Nigerian government to “learn a lesson from history by not fighting an unwinnable war against nationalism but seek possible peaceful options that are the only solution that guarantees national unity and peaceful coexistence.”

Obiozor lamented that “Subnational consciousness or ethnocentric nationalism which is a dangerous form of nationalism to national unity has taken over Nigeria.”

The organisation warned that Nigeria’s dream of unity is fast receding and with violence, crises and conflicts across the country.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo said that the problems Nigeria is being faced with are products of sustained orchestrated injustice in governance.

“The problem with Nigeria in general and the Igbo in particular is located in injustice and the simple solution lays in manifest dialogue, equity and justice,” Ohanaeze noted.

Ohanaeze further warned that the current administration that the alleged “Shoot at Sight Order” to “soldiers on Igbo youth is a call for another pogrom and genocide.”

The group demanded that the Federal Government refrain from the use of force in resolving the present national crises.

Obiozor warned: “History shows that military and violent means to solve the national question is bound to fail as it leads to further national fractionalization, anarchy and eventual or inevitable disintegration, as in all Empires or multi-national states or countries.”

With banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other forms criminalities ravaging the Northern region, the Old Eastern Region is now experiencing its worse state of insecurity.

There have been daily reports on attacks on police formations and other security points and killing of officers by those simply identified as unknown gunmen.

Just yesterday, unidentified hoodlums attcked a police station at Ubani township Market in Umuahia North, Abia State and razed it down.

As the attacks on security operatives and police stations in the region continue unabated, over 10 police officers were killed at the weekend in Rivers and Akwa Ibom States.

Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu vowed that no breakdown of law and order, or attacks on soft targets would be tolerated.

Odumosu spoke at a stakeholders forum on security in Lagos, which Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presided over.

The CP said the command was aware of agitations for the Oodua Republic by some Yoruba secessionists “and the threats to disrupt law and order in the state.”

The Police chief disclosed that twenty-four persons belonging to the groups have been identified and are being closely monitored.

“The threat of IPOB to attack soft targets in Lagos is equally being put on the radar of the command intelligence gathering and other security services in the state.”

Assuring that strategies are being put in place to neutralise criminality, Odumosu appealed to residents to be vigilant and report suspicious persons or movements to security agencies.

BIAFRA NEWS: Insecurity. God‘ll not forgive Buhari if Nigeria goes to war – Gani Adams

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against allowing what would trigger another war in Nigeria.

Adams warned that God would not forgive Buhari if Nigeria witnessed another war due to the current state of insecurity. HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE $5000

He made the remark while accusing Buhari of being insensitive to Nigerians’ plight over the country’s insecurity crisis.

Adams spoke at his 51st birthday Thanksgiving programme held at the Saviour Ministries Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide, Alausa, Lagos State, yesterday.

He noted that the call for Nigeria’s disintegration was due to the Federal Government’s inability to address the country’s challenges.

He accused Buhari of displaying a lacklustre attitude towards the insecurity challenges in the country.

Adams said: “Schools are being shut, churches, mosques are not spared. Bandits are gradually leading the country into a tailspin and the president seems to have been bereft of ideas.

“What we experience daily now in Nigeria is enough to set the country on fire.A section of the country lording itself over other sections.

“Yet they said we shouldn’t talk, that our calls for the O’odua Republic was done in bad faith. How can you explain the killings, kidnappings and banditry spreading in North, East, West and South.

“One of the greatest problems of this government is nepotism. One begins to wonder why Mr. president is insensitive to the plights of others, especially to the sorrow and agony of citizens losing loved ones to bloodshed.

“It is a wake-up call for President Buhari to address all these issues in the interest of this country; else God will not forgive him if Nigeria disintegrates through war.”

Banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and general criminalities have been on the rise across the country lately.

Students and residents of some Northern states have been the major targets of bandits.

While bandits are abducting and killing some students, Boko Haram is also raining havoc in the Northeast.

In the Southern part of the country, armed herders have attacked communities and killed their occupants, with farmers being the most affected.

BIAFRA NEWS: Real owners of oil, gas assets in Nigeria will be made public soon – NEITI

True owners of Nigeria’s oil, gas and mining assets will soon be identified, documented and made public under the beneficial ownership policy implementation programme. HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE FREE SITE

This is as the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) embarks on a joint coordination committee with the Corporate Affairs Commission as part of Nigeria’s implementation of the global transparency programme.

The resolution to form the committee was taken at a meeting between the management of the two agencies and is contained in a press statement signed by the Head, Communications and Advocacy, of NEITI, Obiageli Onuorah.

The Executive Secretary of NEITI, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji who said it was the institutional responsibility of both agencies to build a consolidated database on beneficial ownership disclosures, described the CAC as a key ally in the implementation of the global EITI’s requirements.

He said, “The CAC has the institutional responsibility to keep the register of all companies doing business in Nigeria while NEITI sits on information and data on oil assets, key players and investors in the extractive industries. We, therefore, need each other to build a consolidated database on beneficial ownership disclosures”.

Dr. Orji explained that the information held by both agencies saddles them with the responsibility of ensuring that Nigeria’s commitment to the international community on effective implementation of Beneficial Ownership in the extractive industry is realized.

The Executive Secretary explained that illicit financial flows, terrorism financing, tax evasion and diversion of government revenues will be better checked when ownership of oil and gas assets is documented and made public.

“The exclusion of information about our natural resources was at a huge cost to the Nigerian economy and affected Nigeria’s optimization of revenues from its natural resource wealth. With your cooperation and reputation, we can help our government fight the resource curse which is the reason the EITI and NEITI exist”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Garba Abubakar has assured of CAC’s commitment to partner NEITI in complying with standards set by the global EITI.

He said, “The CAC is already working on a comprehensive beneficial ownership register that will be of global standard. He disclosed that since the 3rd January 2021, all companies registering to do business in Nigeria were required to disclose the identity of their real owners.

“This information became a requirement by the CAC for purposes of beneficial ownership information in the public interest for anyone who needs it and at no cost to other government agencies”, he explained.

BIAFRA NEWS: Herdsmen. ESN will invade North soon – IPOB threatens Miyetti Allah

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Sunday declared that the Eastern Security Network, ESN, will soon storm the Northern part of Nigeria. HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE FREE SITE

IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful stated this in response to claims that Miyetti Allah was planning to deploy 5, 000 security operatives to the Southeast to protect herders.

Powerful described the plan as an insult which would not be allowed to stand in the Southeast.

The IPOB spokesman warned that the group would take drastic actions if such step is taken.

A statement by Powerful reads partly: “The attention of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has been drawn to the threat by MIYETTI ALLAH to deploy 5000 jihadists to Biafra land to protect their cows and herders following the floating of Ebubeagu security outfit by South East governors.

“We consider this utterance as an insult to the entire Biafra and won’t tolerate it despite our grievances against the treacherous South East governors and the political elite.

“The South East Governors must understand that federal government of Nigeria sponsored Miyetti Allah to make this reckless utterance. The earlier they understand that IPOB is not their problem, the better. They should stop betraying us but appreciate our sacrifices in the defense of our ancestral land.

“The Miyetti Allah and their terrorists group should know that they shouldn’t play God for ever. They are trying to provoke ESN and IPOB to take a drastic action. IPOB and ESN are running out of patience with their insults. They should retrace their steps now! Let them come, we are waiting for them. Soon they will see ESN in the North.”

BIAFRA NEWS: Terrorism tag on IPOB: Controversies over rising insecurity in South-East

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) are understandably the most talked about groups in the country today, owing to controversies surrounding its true status as a peaceful unarmed group and the terrorist organisation the Nigerian Government dubbed it when it applied to a Federal High Court in Abuja for it to be proscribed.

A once little known IPOB, led by the controversial Nnamdi Kanu, who is based in the United Kingdom, became the sing song on the month of Nigerians, in the run up to the 2015 general elections, with scathing commentaries by its leader, reeling out reasons the then President Muhammadu Buhari must not be elected, and even after when Kanu, in his several outbursts, nicknamed Nigeria a Zoo! HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE FREE SITE

During this period, Kanu and IPOB members cut an ordinary picture of just Igbo nationalists fighting for a Biafra nation, and upping the agitation for a sovereign state of Biafra, in mould of what members of the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Chief Ralph Uwazuruike have been doing for years. For the Nigerian government under President Buhari, Kanu and IPOB members were just another set of irritants causing distractions.

However, the narratives changed when Kanu was arrested immediately he arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and was slammed into detention, followed up by his now stalled prosecution on charges bordering on treasonable felony. That singular act changed the complexion of IPOB and its activities, as its members constantly clashed with law enforcement agencies, with claims of massacres by the group on several occasions.

Things have, however, taken a turn for the worse since the worsening insecurity in the country, especially alleged brutality by the Fulani herdsmen in parts of the country, especially the South, prompting the setting up of the ESN, supposedly to defend ‘Biafraland’ against the murderous activities of the herdsmen, who IPOB sees as being on an expansionist agenda to annex Igboland and others in the South.

The complexion of the faceoff between IPOB and the Nigerian government further changed after the military moved against operatives of the ESN in the Orlu area of Imo State, dislodging them from their camps deep in the forest, as what looked like a well coordinated and systemic decimation of security agencies, especially the police in the South-East, begun in earnest.

Since the military bombardment of ESN camps, hardly any day passes without reports of an attack, many of them deadly, on police facilities in the South-East and the South-South.

The attacks were initially believed to be the handiwork of IPOB/ESN but the group put up highly spirited defence, claiming that it was indeed a peaceful self determination group and not violent, neither are they terrorists.

The spokesman for the group Emma Powerful has no doubt become one of the busiest image makers in the country, beating even Garba Shehu, the untiring Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari. Powerful has the unenviable job of changing the narration and convincing Nigerians that IPOB is indeed not a terrorist group.

Powerful’s inability to get the job done successfully is largely due to recent events and revelations that tend to present his group otherwise.

Aside Mr. Powerfull’s efforts, other Igbo leaders, including Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and the President General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor George Obiozor, have at different times tried to exonerate IPOB from having hand in the alarmingly growing attacks.

For Umahi, IPOB cannot be involved in the attacks as he sees it as alien to their objectives, which is protection and advancing Igbo interests, while Professor Obiozor reasoned that the attacks were being orchestrated by enemies of the South-East, who have invaded the region in other to deny it of the 2023 presidency.

Also, it would be recalled that Governor Hope Uzodinma, who IPOB have so much axe to grind with, after initially blaming the group for the daring attacks in the state at the police headquarters and Correctional Centre both in Owerri, quickly recanted, instead blaming politicians for the attacks.

These efforts, at exonerating IPOB, notwithstanding, the narratives seem largely to be against it, as every media reports concerning attacks in the South-East now comes with ‘gunmen suspected to be IPOB members’, from simply gunmen.

What has changed? Why are Nigerians now cock sure that IPOB/ESN are likely responsible for the attacks in the South-East and parts of the South-South states like Rivers and Akwa Ibom states? At what point did a supposedly self determination group become a terrorist organisation?

Several broadcasts, comments and tweets from Kanu no doubt suggests that he has been one of the principal persons making efforts to present his group in better light, a difficult one. In his vociferous outbursts, the IPOB leader more or less presents the group as violent and terror inclined, threatening elected political office holders, security agencies and even intending recruits into the South-East joint security outfit, Ebubeagu.

“If you’re commander of troops in the Nigerian army or police, hear this: That you’re wearing a uniform and adorning a rank does not make you invincible. If any #Biafran is killed on your orders, you will be hunted and punished, sooner than later. We’re taking stock and bidding our time”, Kanu tweeted in one of his many outbursts on his Twitter handle @MaziNnamdiKanu.

He also tweeted “if you are Efik, Ijaw, etc; and after reading this article with all these open facts you are still shouting One Nigeria or still screaming APC or PDP under the present 1999 Military Decree then you need to be shot at sight because you are a danger to humanity and your race.”

As expected, Nigerians are still divided on what IPOB really stands for, a freedom fighting group for a Biafra nation or a terror group! Some, who are sympathetic to its course, in chats with DAILY POST believe that Kanu and his group are only been demonized while others feel differently, insisting that though it started as a self determination group, recent activities linked to the group, put it in the same mould with Boko Haram, as they are also spreading fear and terror in the land.

Chidiebere John, a Lagos based spare parts dealer is of the opinion that IPOB has not done anything wrong to be called a terror group, instead they should be praised for defending and protecting Igbos against the atrocities of killer herdsmen.

“People are only calling IPOB names because of their own selfish interests. How can a group that is fighting for the emancipation of its people be the same that will be terrorising them? It does not make any sense to me. IPOB is about freedom for the Igbos while ESN is for the security and safety of the Igbo man in Igboland, which is what we all need at the moment because the government has failed to protect our people.

“Nigerians should be more broad minded in viewing IPOB and ESN because what is happening is part of a written script to decimate IPOB. The best way to achieve the government’s aim is to demonize the group and make people see the members as terrorists but we know that is not true”, John said.

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, however, thinks differently, as he expressly referred to IPOB as a terror group in a recent interview.

He said: “I must commend the entire Eastern Governors for rising to condemn the unnecessary attack launched against Hausa Fulani headers by the notorious proscribed terrorist group IPOB.

“Nnamdi Kanu has bitten more than he can chew and must not be allowed to continue insulting and abusing the fundamental human right of Nigerians to live anywhere across the country.

“With the creation of EBUBE AGU Security outfit, it means change has come and I wonder if Kanu will ever step his foot here in Nigeria again because these security guards will not take it lightly with him and his terrorist group ESN.”

For Maxwell Agu, a Lagos based lawyer, it will be hard for anyone to convince him that IPOB has not or is not tendering towards terrorism or terror related activities with the recent attacks on police formations in the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones.

“Those sympathetic to the course IPOB is fighting will find it difficult to exonerate IPOB from all that is happening in the South-East and the South-South. It will certainly be a tough task because if not IPOB, who else is doing it? Who else is embittered in the zones against government and security agencies? Who else that organised to carry out these coordinated attacks? Who else has the numbers to have the kind of spread they have in attacking security agents and their facilities? Your guess is as good as mine.

“For me, I think IPOB actually derailed and lost sight of its original vision in a bid for vengeance, which has always threatened. He allowed his quest to avenge whatever attack they claim against members of his group to derail him for his earlier set objectives. This has made it difficult for many reasonable people who actually believe Igbos are being marginalised in Nigeria from supporting their agitations. It is no longer agitations but pure criminality and crimes against humanity.

“No reasonably intelligent person who has followed his threats over time against personalities and security agents will believe his group does not have a hand in what is going on at the moment in Igboland. It just does not make sense”, Agu said.
