NAF : Missing Alpha-Jet aircraft might have crashed

 

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday said intelligence gathered by its surveillance aircraft, Special Forces, and ground troops indicates that its missing aircraft might have crashed.

Recall that NAF Alpha-Jet aircraft (NAF-475) went off the radar with two crew members on board on March 31.

A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, stated that the cause of the crash and the whereabouts of the two pilots remain unknown.

According to Gabkwet, the pilots are Flt.-Lt. John Abolarinwa and Flt.- Lt. Ebiakpo Chapele.

Meanwhile, extensive search and rescue efforts were still ongoing by NAF surveillance aircraft as well as NAF Special Forces and Nigerian Army troops.
He added that even at the point they were, NAF was not ruling out anything regarding the incident.

He, however, remained hopeful that the crew would soon be found and rescued.

Easter friday : Christian leadership seeks God’s intervention in Nigeria

 

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have urged people of faith to use the Easter period to pray for Nigeria.

A statement on Friday by CAN President, Samson Ayokunle, sought God’s intervention as the country faces myriads of problems.

Ayokunle congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the world for witnessing the 2021 holiday that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The religious leader expressed joy that the era of complete lockdown, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, was over.

Ayokunle prayed against insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, herdsmen attacks, ritual killing, armed robbery, unemployment and others.

“Though we have many challenges in the nation, ranging from different types of insecurity to social and economic challenges, I urge all the children of God to rejoice in hope.

“We must not be disillusioned as the disciples were when Jesus was arrested, crucified and buried. They were overwhelmed by grief and doubted His resurrection.

“This is the time for us to exercise patience in tribulations and to continue to pray. With hope in God who can never fail his children, a glorious morning of resurrection would come”, he added.

BAD Friday in Taraba as soldiers allegedly kill youths, injure others

 

A number of youths whose ages range from twenty to twenty-seven have been shot dead and several others injured in Taraba State allegedly by the men of the Nigerian army.

The incident, according to  findings took place at the early hours of Friday in Baka village of Ardo-Kola Local Government Council of the state.

The affected youths remains have been deposited in the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre which is located in Jalingo metropolis. They were said to be returning from a wedding ceremony when they met their untimely deaths in the hands of the soldiers.

The soldiers who were in the community to checkmate the activities of hoodlums terrorizing the state, were said to have mistaken the youths for kidnappers.

When  visited the hospital premises, parents of the victims were in tears.

In tears, some of the parents who spoke with  could not fathom why the soldiers opened fire on the youths on sighting them on motorcycles instead of arresting them.

One of the parents who gave his name as Bello Aliyu Jen, told our correspondent that two of his sons were among the five youths killed by the soldiers.

He gave the names of his deceased sons as Abdulkadir Bello -27 and Tukur Bello-20. According to him, Abdulkadir was a final year HND student of the College of Agriculture, Jalingo.

Passionately calling on the government to do the needful by bringing the soldiers to book, he said his dream had been shattered as his sons who according to him have been working round the clocks to put smiles on his face are “no more”.

Other affected parents who also spoke with  at the hospital sought to know why the soldiers on sighting the youths from a distance decided to open fire on them, instead of arresting and interrogating them to ascertain their missions.

Our state correspondent who was at the hospital as at the time the remains of the deceaseds were brought in observed that their bodies were rattled with bullets.

A top security personnel who spoke with our correspondent at the hospital scene apportioned blames to parents who according to him always allow their children and wards to “go out at late hours. ”

The deputy speaker of the State House of Assembly, Harman Adama, who was also sighted at the hospital premises told  that two of his first cousins were among the five youths that were gunned down by the soldiers.

The Deputy Speaker who observed that the incident occurred during the dead hours of the day cautioned parents and guardians to always tread extra legitimate miles to prevent their children and ward from going out of their houses at late hours.

According to him, the soldiers who have been given presidential directives to flush out hoodlums from the state and the country at large have said their actions were not intentional.

NAF jet fighter : Boko Haram releases video showing downing of NAF fighter jet

 

A Boko Haram faction has released footage showing the downing of a Nigerian fighter aircraft.

HumAngle reports that the video showed fighters carrying Rocket Propelled Grenade, artillery equipment, the corpse of the pilot and the aircraft’s debris.

The website shared screenshots of the crashed jet, both mid-air and on the ground, on Friday via its Twitter page.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha-Jet was deployed for an operation against the Boko Haram sect.

On Wednesday, the military confirmed it went off the radar, with no traces found since.

The fighter aircraft lost contact with the base at about 5pm, the same day, while on an interdiction mission in support of ground troops.

Locals saw the jet fly around Goni Kurmiri and Njimia villages after attacking terrorist locations around the Sambisa Forest.

 reported the fear among the military and civilian population who speculated that the insurgents, who possess sophisticated weapons, might have shot the aircraft.

Intelligence sources had explained that bad weather was hindering the search which commenced shortly after the disappearance.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao flew to Maiduguri on Thursday over the incident.

The name Bailee Madison might not mean much to most film or TV series enthusiasts. But odds are, her face is recognizable only a few minutes into the movie 'A Week Away.' Though the 21-year-old star just caught a big break in the Christian musical teen drama, she's an old hand at Hollywood hits.

For one thing, Madison got her true start in film in 'Lonely Hearts' back in 2006 at the age of seven. Her next piece was 'Bridge to Terabithia,' where she played the younger sister of one of the lead characters.
