According to The Sun, the contract with Spotify was said to be worth close to $41 million for a multi-year deal.

“Meghan was the driving force behind it. The initial multi-year deal is worth in excess of £30million with a view to extending it within six months,” an insider told the publication.

It was further mentioned that once touring and live events return following the coronavirus pandemic, there’s a good chance that Meghan and Harry could partake in live shows of their podcast for another hefty fee.

So, similar to paid public appearances, the couple could potentially end up taking their podcast on the road while earning more income from ticket sales.

“Spotify, who their podcast deal is with, have been investing heavily in the live space in the market and want to start taking podcasts out on the road. Meghan and Harry’s is not just hugely high profile but potentially hugely lucrative.”

In September 2020, it was also revealed that Harry and Meghan had signed a partnership deal with Netflix to create original content for the media company for an estimated $100 million, according to the New York Times.

Other credible news outlets claim that the deal is much higher than that, claiming that the pair would actually earn $150 million, depending on the success of the projects they’re producing and creating for Netflix.

 

Fans of the royal family have been concerned about Meghan’s intentions to work with Netflix given that her and Harry’s ties with the Queen could be a conflict of interest.

Sources insist that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t have any involvement in other shows on the streaming service, such as The Crown — Harry and Meghan will only be focusing their attention on the content they are planning to bring to Netflix.

"The Sussexes were more concerned and consumed about their own image and ideas rather than what else was being screened on Netflix,” a source told The Sun.

"The subject of The Crown was brought up, but the service has always stood firm that they leave the editorial of that show to film makers Leftbank and show creator Peter Morgan and unless a legal matter, there is no interference.

“The Duke And Duchess did not fight over this, which may be seen by some as odd given the next time period the show will cover.”

 

PDP reacts as court jails Prof Ogban for rigging election to favour APC in Akwa Ibom

 

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has commended the judiciary for convicting a Returning Officer, who connived with the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rewrite election during the 2019 general elections.

PDP said the “three years jailed term handed to Prof. Peter Ogban, a professor of University of Calabar, for manipulating the result of Akwa-Ibom Northwest senatorial election in favour of Gods will Akpabio was a huge lesson for compromised individuals working to subvert the will of the people.’

32-year-old man arrested for allegedly stealing bike from police station

 A 32-year-old Yusuf Saliu, has been arrested by the police for reportedly stealing a motorbike at the Dalemo Police Post in Mushin area of Lagos State.

Saliu was said to have stolen the bike during the violent protest in October 2020.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said on Thursday that police operatives attached to Mushin Division nabbed Saliu at Daleko Area, Mushin, with one of the motorcycles stolen at the police post during the EndSARS protest.

Adejobi stated that the suspect was arrested on Monday at about 9.30pm, based on an intelligence on the activities and involvement of the suspect in the vandalization of the Daleko Police Post.

He was reportedly seen riding the said bike, marked APP 476 Q, at the time he was apprehended.

“The said bike has been recovered and the matter has been transferred to the Command’s Special Squad for further investigation on the order of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu,” Adejobi informed.

Rodriguez takes final decision on joining Arsenal

 

Real Betis midfielder, Guido Rodriguez, has finally ruled out any possibility of joining Arsenal at the end of the season.

Rodriquez said he is very happy at Real Betis after being linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

Reports had emerged earlier this week that Arsenal have prioritised a move for the 26-year-old as they are keen to recruit a new defensive midfielder to partner Thomas Partey in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Rodriquez, who has made a quick impact in LaLiga this season, only joined Real Betis from Mexican side, Club America, for €3 million last year.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has advised youngster players to prepare themselves for not making it at the club.

According to the England forward, this will help them not to get too down if they fail to make it at Old Trafford.

Rashford has been in fine form for United this season, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists in 45 appearances.

He made breakthrough in the United first team in 2016 and has now scored 90 goals in 273 games.

Speaking to Jay Shetty’s podcast for #ILoveUnited, the 23-year-old gave an insight into his own mind.

“Just to try and improve every day,” Rashford said.

“But making it at United is different to making it as a footballer. As a youngster, you have to prepare yourself for not making it at United, just in order for not getting too down if it doesn’t happen.

“It enables you to keep going. To play for United is a massive achievement for me and I feel really proud to be here.”
