The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed deep sadness on the passage of the Director-General of Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission in the Presidency, Engr. Chidi Izuwah.

Governor Ikpeazu described the demise of Engr Izuwah as a major loss for the people of Abia State and recalled the fundamental interventions made by the deceased in favor of the State in his official capacity as Head of one of the most important parastatals of the Federal Government.

This was contained in a release made available to  by Onyebuchi Ememanka, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, on Thursday.

According to the release, “the recent decision of the Nigerian Correctional Services to set up a Shoe Factory at the Aba Medium Security Correctional Facility was the culmination of several months of hard work by Engr Izuwah and his team at the Commission to complement the efforts of my administration in that regard. He was a most dependable partner of my administration in several other ways.

“Chidi was a first class professional whose professional skills were honed at Shell Petroleum for several years before his sojourn in public service where he displayed deep knowledge and uncommon patriotism in the discharge of his responsibilities as Director-General of the Infrastructure Regulation and Concession Commission at the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was a committed and passionate Nigerian but he was a more committed and passionate Abian who took lots of interest in the affairs at home. He was always willing to lend a hand whenever issues at home came up.

“In that regard, Chidi took after his late father, the revered former Permanent Secretary in the old Imo State and Traditional Ruler of Amaitolu Community, Late Eze Sir A. E. N Izuwah”.

“The Governor recalled that he was constantly in touch with him while he was on his sick bed and ensured that he got every necessary support, and looked forward to his full recovery. The news of his death came as a rude shock.

“At 56 years, Chidi was in his prime and at the very top of a brilliant and illustrious career. His death has robbed us of a major voice in key economic affairs at the national level. Clearly, we have lost one of the finest amongst us”.

Governor Ikpeazu on behalf of his family, the people and Government of Abia State, condoled the Izuwah family, the people of Ovungwu Ancient Kingdom, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, the Infrastructure Regulatory and Concession Commission, friends and associates on the unexpected passage of Late Engr. Izuwah.

The State Chief Executive Officer, however, prayed the Almighty God to grant Late Engr. Chidi Izuwah’s soul eternal rest.

Former Senator who represented the Kogi West Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly, Dino Melaye, has mimicked the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government over alleged bad governance.

The former senator, in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Thursday, alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration was full of corruption, nepotism and maladministration.

He lamented that the country only export raw materials and subsequently import finished goods made of the same materials.

The tweet reads, “there is no longer governance in government in Nigeria. Insecurity, Corruption, Ineptitude, Nepotism and Maladministration are the Hallmarks of the Buhari administration.

“We export crude oil only to import refined products of crude oil, export cocoa only to import chocolate, we export timber and import furnitures including toothpick… Etc.

Don’t take our gentleness for weakness – Christians warn Muslims, Kwara govt

  https://saviournicodemus.blogspot.com/2021/03/how-to-make-money-on-internet-today.html

The President of Kwara Baptist Conference, Reverend Victor Dada, has warned the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration and Muslims in the state not to take the gentleness of Christians for weakness.

He stated this while describing the Kwara government as government of the Muslim, by the Muslim and for the Muslim.

Dada said this in a statement on Wednesday following the clash between Christians and Muslims at the First Baptist Church Surulere, Ilorin, Kwara State.

reported that a clash broke out between Christians and Muslims over a controversy bordering on the use of hijab by Muslim students in Christian schools in the state.

He said that no amount of pressure will make the schools allow the use of hijabs, adding that their schools are grant-aided and not public schools.

According to him, the last 15 years have seen the government employing Islamic religious teachers in schools, while teachers for Christian Religious Knowledge are not employed.

“It is surprising that the government has become a government of the Muslim, by the Muslim and for the Muslim in his (state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq) policies, pronouncements and attitude,” the statement added.

He said that at no time has any government designed uniform for schools ever since the grant aiding policy started in 1974.

“This has always been the responsibility of the proprietors, be it community or mission,” he added.

“The Muslims and the government should not take our gentleness for weakness.

“We shall not allow the use of hijab in our schools. We will defend our faith and defend our inheritance. We demand that the government should return our schools.”

Questions as govt confirms miners fund criminals terrorising Nigerians

  https://saviournicodemus.blogspot.com/2021/03/how-to-make-money-on-internet-today.html

On Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari revealed, at an event held at the University of Ibadan that money made from mining in parts of the country are being used to fund criminal activities by criminals who have infiltrated mining sites in the country.

Represented by the Minister of State for Minerals and Steel Development, Uchechukwu Ogah, President Buhari, in what may pass for lamentation, said since most mining activities were taking place in remote places, it was easy for criminals to infiltrate the mining industry. He also added that the money made from the industry was being used to fund criminal activities to the detriment of the economy of the country and its security.

He said: “The reality of this truth is most obvious in the minerals sector given the fact that mining activities take place in remote localities. Our intelligence gathering efforts have confirmed that most of these criminal elements have infiltrated the mining industry and are using it as means of funding their despicable activities.

“It is with this understanding that we recently took the painful but necessary decision of banning all forms of mining activities in Zamfara State, where armed banditry has persisted.

“It is also to this end that I directed the Ministers of Mines and Steel Development to strengthen collaboration with state governments and relevant security agencies to ensure the security and safety of all mining areas. In so doing, we can achieve sustainable development of the minerals sector for the peace and security of our great country and good people.”

Though the President, according to many Nigerians, did not say anything new, as there had been reports that the bulk of the banditry in Zamfara State is largely fuelled by gold mining, and that there is actually a gold/arms swap going on in the state, wherein, gold mined in the state are transport through illegal flights originating from the forests to a Middle-East country in exchange for arms.

A recent video, whose authenticity  cannot guarantee, showed a dusty runway in a thick forest, with an aircraft taking off. If the video has any credibility, then it may not be rocket science to know how the bandits get the sophisticated weapons they have been using to terrorize the North-West, parts of the North Central and of course, where the Boko Haram terrorists and ISWAP get their deadly weapons, which on many occasions have been described as superior to what the Nigerian military operates with.

It is also instructive to note that, recently, during one of his many press interviews, Kaduna based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi had painted a scary image of the capacity and determination of the bandits operating in Zamfara and their determination to wreak greater havoc, when he revealed that they are in the process of getting an anti-aircraft rocket launcher.

Though the revelation is grim and scary, what is more perplexing was the source of the money for the acquisition of these weapons of death. This has now been laid to rest, at least officially by President Buhari, after the Tuesday expose in Ibadan. What has not, however, been clarified is, whose fault is it that bandits, or criminals, using the President’s word, were able to be in a commanding position to mine the nation’s commonwealth only to use the proceeds to terrorise citizens?

Nigerians, who spoke to  are sharply divided in the issue, as some blamed the government for surrendering what could have improved the economic situation of the country to bandits who use the proceeds to acquire arms to wage war against innocent citizens, while others believe the President was just being sincere by revealing what the true situation is and that the problem had actually been on before his administration.

Malam Adamu Sani, a native of Zamfara, in a chat with  posited that the problem is far worse than the picture painted by President Buhari. According to him, mining in Zamfara is a big criminal enterprise controlled by bandits who make huge money from it and that it is the reason banditry will continue to thrive in the state and adjourning states.

“It is unfortunate that most Nigerians, especially those here in the South do not have a true picture of what is going on and as a result, cannot appreciate it. What is going on is not just banditry but an economic war being waged against the Nigerian nation. If the gold deposit in Zamfara disappears today, banditry will end in no time, because that’s the motivation and the source of their weapons.

“When some people raised the alarm that aircraft have been noticed to drop weapons and other supplies to bandits in the dead of the night, many Nigerians thought people were merely raising false alarm but with what Mr President has said, it is obvious now that there is a measure of credibility in the alarm. At least, we all know that the kind of sophisticated weapons used by these bandits and terrorists are not sold on Nigerian streets or in open market anywhere in the world. It is a black market operation with clandestine means of transportation and supply roots. These are the things government must look into,” Sani said.

Speaking also, Mr Adeagbo Clement, a security expert, blamed the Nigerian government for the current situation. According to him, the government had all it takes to nip the problem in the bud before it escalated to this level.

“For me, this is a failure of governance. In fact, the President has indirectly admitted his failure when he said criminals have infiltrated mining sites and sliding proceeds from it to fund criminal activities.

“To start with, I believe the Federal Government have a complete data of everywhere in the country where there is mineral deposit and they have all the intelligence apparatus any government should have. If there are criminals mining in the country, what has government done about it? Mining is not something you can do without trace; it involves heavy duty machinery, if it must be done in commercial quantity. It also involves a hoard of workers or labourers as the case maybe. So, it cannot be done in a hidden manner.

“It is also clear to all that to be a legal miner, you must be licensed by the Federal Government, meaning that government has a database of every legal miner in the country and their areas of jurisdiction. I believe this is where to start; let there be a discrete intelligence driven investigation into the activities of all the miners and in the process, identify the illegal and criminally minded ones among them”, Clement submitted.

Taking a different view, a management consultant, Babatunde Adeniyi, believes that the problem is more of the fact that most serious mining activities in the country are controlled by foreigners, especially Asians, such as the Chinese and the Indians. According to him, these foreign nationals bear no allegiance to Nigeria and would care less what happens as long as they keep making money.

“These foreigners, to me, have a lot to tell us. The Chinese, for instance will do anything to maximize the opportunity they have and have been known over the years not to respect the laws of the land. They engage in underhand dealings, connive with Nigerians, including security agents to carry out their illegal dealings. I believe government should have beam its searchlight on foreigners mining in Zamfara and other parts of the north.

“I honestly believe that it takes foreign connections for the bandits in Zamfara and other parts of the country to have access to the kind of weapons they are operating with. Questions must be asked how they got those weapons, because they are not what you just pick up at a street corner anywhere in the world. There is a gun running cartel involved, and I doubt if these bandits can on their own, have access to the cartel. Someone somewhere, who has interest in the ongoing banditry, whatever that interest is, is arming them or procuring the arms for them”, Adeniyi said.

A youth leader of one of the opposition parties in Lagos, while responding to questions from   said he is yet to comprehend how the weapons in the hands of the bandits and terrorists found their ways into the country.

“If you say aircraft; if illegal flights come into the country without being detected or intercepted, then we have a major problem as a nation. If the weapons come in through land borders, since the seaports are technically out of the possible avenues, then there is still a grave problem. So, for me, whatever is happening at the moment is a failure of governance, a serious indictment on the parts of those charged with the responsibility of keeping the country safe.

“I remember talks about a radar project that will cover the entire country, meaning that every aircraft that enters the nation’s airspace can be detected. What happened to it? Is it not working or someone detected illegal flights and looked the other way? So many questions to be answered but we may never get the answers, as it’s typical of Nigeria,” he said.

Mr. Tanimola Haruna is, however, of the view that whatever is happening now predates President Buhari and that he was just unfortunate to have inherited a very bad situation – security wise.

“You may think that things are worse now but don’t forget that the issue of terrorism and banditry have been there before the administration of President Buhari. I will say what is happening now is more of the failure of former administrations and not that of Buhari. We should actually appreciate the President for speaking out and telling us what the actual problem is and why it is festering. Also remember that he also said he has given the new service chiefs weeks to clear off all the criminal elements causing insecurity in the country. I want to believe that before long, Nigerians will begin to appreciate the efforts of the President in securing the country.

“Terrorism and banditry are not security issues that can be easily dispensed with. We have seen that in other countries, especially where they have access to funds and weapons. So, Nigerians should exercise patience to allow the President and his security chiefs do their job,” Haruna appealed.

Suspend 2023 general elections, 1999 Constitution – Yoruba leaders tell Buhari

  https://saviournicodemus.blogspot.com/2021/03/how-to-make-money-on-internet-today.html

Some leaders of Yoruba ethnic group have urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to with immediate effect, suspend the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Those who addressed a press conference in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital Wednesday evening also called for the suspension of the 1999 constitution.

Spokesman of the group under the auspices of Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, (NINAS), Professor Banji Akintoye, noted that the call was necessary because Nigeria cannot progress under the current political structure.

Akintoye noted that the 1999 constitution was the cause of major problems the country was currently facing.

He said that the group was giving the federal government another 30 day ultimatum after the expiration of the 90-Day Notice of Grave Constitutional Grievances issued by NINAS to the Federal Government of Nigeria on December 16, 2020.

Akintoye, who addressed journalists on behalf of the group, insisted that the 1999 constitution was no doubt a collateral damage to the people of Nigeria, hence, the need for its suspension and suspension of future elections.

He also warned international money lenders not to lend Nigeria any money because Nigeria was now a disputed project.

Akintoye said, “A formal announcement by the Federal Government of Nigeria acknowledging the Constitutional Grievances and Sovereignty Dispute now declared by the peoples of South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria.

“A Formal Commitment by Federal Government of Nigeria to the wholesale Decommissioning and Jettisoning of the 1999 Constitution as the Basis of the Federation of Nigeria as was done by the Government of Apartheid-Era South Africa in 1990, to commence the process by which the Apartheid Constitution of the then South Africa was eased out.

“A Formal Announcement by the Federal Government of Nigeria suspending further General Elections under the Disputed 1999 Constitution since winners of such Elections will Swear to, and Govern by that Constitution.

“A Formal Invitation to the Peoples of the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria to work out and emplace a Transitional Authority, which shall specify the Modalities for the Transitioning Process including the Composition and Mandate of the Transitional Authority as well as the Time-frame for the Transitioning and other Ancillary Matters.

“A Formal Initiation of a Time-Bound Transitioning Process to midwife the emergence of Fresh Constitutional Protocols by a Two-Stage Process in which the Constituent Regional Blocs will at the first stage, Distill and Ratify their various Constitutions by Referendums and Plebiscites and in the second stage, Negotiate the Terms of Federating afresh as may be dictated by the outcomes of Referendum and Plebiscites.

“Let it be known to all, including International Money Lenders, that Nigeria is now a Disputed Project and that while the Constituent Components commit to honouring existing International Debt Obligations.

“We caution that whatever Obligations that may arise from any Foreign Loans contracted by the Federal Government of Nigeria from the date of this Proclamation may come into controversy. Similarly, all Loans contracted by the Federal Government of Nigeria, containing any Clause that may Cede the Sovereignty of Nigeria or any part thereof in the event of Repayment Default shall be disputed as illicit, and in breach of the Sovereignty of the Federating Units.”

Leicester City celebrate the third of their five goals against Sheffield United

 https://saviournicodemus.blogspot.com/2021/03/how-to-make-money-on-internet-today.html

The latest Leicester City headlines, with words from Ayoze Perez on his return to the side, from Brendan Rodgers on Jamie Vardy, and Kelechi Iheanacho on his Mother's Day dedication

Leicester City’s big win over Sheffield United could be worth the equivalent of four points to the club in the race for a Champions League spot.

The 5-0 dismantling of the Premier League’s bottom side was City’s first by at least a four-goal margin this term.

Thrashings were a more regular occurrence last season, with the record-breaking 9-0 at Southampton the pick of the bunch, so while City are three points better off than this time a year ago, their goal difference is not as good, only at +21 rather than +30.

However, City sensed an opportunity to twist the knife against the Blades and racked up a few more goals, even after the victory was secured.

Scoring five saw City’s goal difference surpass both Chelsea’s and Tottenham’s, meaning all of the clubs behind Brendan Rodgers’ men now have inferior records, further strengthening their buffer.

Entertainment Grammy Awards Update : Beyonce Makes History With 28 Awards 20 Years After First Grammy

 https://saviournicodemus.blogspot.com/2021/03/how-to-make-money-on-internet-today.html

In 2001, Beyonce won her first Grammys and this became just the beginning of many wins and a journey for making history and breaking boundaries.

On Sunday, 14th of March, she made Grammys history by becoming the woman with the most Grammy awards ever at the music industry’s top awards gala, and its most decorated singer, with 28 career wins.

Beyonce now ties the record with music impresario Quincy Jones as the living person with the most Grammys. Queen Bey surpassed bluegrass-country singer Alison Krauss who previously held the record with 27. Only classical conductor Sir Georg Solti has more, with 31.

Beyonce’s 28th Grammy was presented in honour of  Black Parade, a celebration of black power and resilience, which she released on Juneteenth of last year.

In total, Beyonce has 28 Grammy Awards, 79 Grammy Nominations, 6 Grammys won in one night (record matched by Adele), and 7 Grammys for consecutive albums.

The popstar was also part of another historic moment when Megan Thee Stallion became the first female artist to win the best rap song award.

Beyonce Knowles first captured the public’s eye as the lead vocalist of the R&B group Destiny’s Child. She later established a solo career with her debut album Dangerously in Love, becoming one of music’s top-selling artists with sold-out tours and a slew of awards. Knowles has also starred in several films, including Dream Girls.

Destiny’s Child comprised Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Together, they released five albums and won three Grammy Awards, first in 2001.

Years after they all went solo, Beyonce brought them together. During 2018 Coachella, Beyonce brought Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams on stage during her headline set.

The trio began their surprise performance with their 2004 hit Lose My Breath, followed by Say My Name and Soldier.

Beyoncé started singing at an early age, competing in local talent shows and winning many of these events by impressing audiences with her singing and dancing abilities.

Giving a speech at her 28th Award, she said:

I am so honoured. I’m so excited. As an artist, I believe it’s my job to reflect the times, and it’s been such a difficult time. So I wanted to uplift, encourage, celebrate all of the beautiful black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the world.

Queen Bey makes history with 28 awards, 20 years after her first Grammy win.
