The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said President Muhammadu Buhari would never condone looters of public funds within and outside government.

John Akpan Udoedehe, National Secretary of the Caretaker Committee (CECPC) stated this on Wednesday.

His reaction followed Peoples Democratic Party’s description of the Buhari administration as the most corrupt government in Nigeria.

Udoedehe, in a rejoinder, noted that the opposition has laboured to canvass tales of a phantom stolen N15trillion public funds.

The scribe dared the PDP to back its allegations with facts, adding that the party was known for “pervasive corruption and impunity”.

The scribe said the PDP engaged in petroleum subsidy rackets, unexecuted electricity, road and arms contracts, misappropriation and diversion of public funds.

“The most ardent critics of President Buhari and the government he leads will definitely chorus one fact: this government is unsparing and does not condone thieves within and outside government.”

APC listed the implementation of Treasury Single Account, Biometric Verification Number (BVN) and the Whistle-Blowing policy as initiatives the administration use in the fight against.

Udoedehe boasted that “no government in the country’s history has put in place measures to create jobs and alleviate poverty” like the Buhari government.

The secretary said the N2.3 trillion Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) had not only stimulated the economy but prevented business collapse.

He further cited the N75billion National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and the Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Survival Fund which included Payroll Support for businesses in health, education, hospitality and food production sectors.

The United Nations has expressed outrage over the “horrific killings” of 58 civilians in neighboring Republic of Niger.

At least, 58 people were killed in two separate attacks on sellers near the border with Mali and Burkina Faso.

Top officials of the organisation, including Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the General Assembly, Amb. Volkan Bozkir, reacted to the incident in separate communications on Wednesday.

The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF’) said 6 children aged 11 to 17 died in the attacks carried out by unidentified gunmen in the villages of Darey-dey and Sinégogar in western Niger.

Guterres in a statement condemned the attacks and urged the Nigerien authorities to “spare no effort in bringing the perpetrators to justice”.

Earlier, UNICEF said it was “deeply saddened and outraged” that the casualties included civilians, especially children.

The agency in a statement recalled how armed groups killed no fewer than 100 people, including 17 children, in coordinated attacks in Niger in early January.

UNICEf noted that armed violence across the Central Sahel region is having a devastating impact on children’s survival, education, protection and development.

Part of the statement read: “Mounting insecurity along the borders with Burkina Faso and Mali has exacerbated needs in Tillabery region where more than 95,000 people are displaced.

“In recent months, access by humanitarian actors to conflict-affected populations has been hindered.

“Reaching those in need is increasingly challenging. Violence is disrupting livelihoods and access to social services including education and health care.

“Insecurity is worsening chronic vulnerabilities. Women and children are bearing the brunt of the violence.”

Noting that Niger continued to face humanitarian crises worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, the agency said about 3.8 million people, including two million children, were affected.

“But additional support and engagement from the international community are urgently required to stop violence and help us reach those most in need,” the statement added.

You will not walk back into my starting XI – Arteta warns Aubameyang, Europa League

 https://saviournicodemus.blogspot.com/2021/03/how-to-make-money-on-internet-today.html

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said the internal issue with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been “resolved”, but he also warned that the forward must earn his place back in his team.

Aubameyang was benched for Sunday’s North London derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur, after breaching pre-match protocols.

The Gunners went on to earn a 2-1 victory in his absence.

Ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game at home to Olympiakos, Arteta has said Aubameyang won’t face any further punishment.

When asked if he has closed the matter with his captain behind the scenes, Arteta told his press conference: “Yes. We talked, everything has been resolved in a really positive way. So we move forward.”

Pressed on whether the Gabon international will come straight back into his team, the Spaniard responded: “No, everybody has to obviously perform at the highest level to earn his place in the team and there is no exceptions there. We will try to put out a really competitive team to try and win the game.”

Rohr adds two more players to Super Eagles squad for Benin, Lesotho games

Genk striker, Paul Onuachu has been called up to the Nigeria national team, for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

Onuachu was a shock exclusion from the original 24-man list released earlier this month.

The 26-year-old could only make the standby list, despite his fine displays for Genk this season.

However, Onuachu has now been added to the squad, along with Henry Onyekuru.

Onuachu has been extended an invitation but Moses Simon and other Super Eagles stars in France are to miss the encounter due to the country’s COVID-19 protocol.

“Following the uncertainty regarding the availability of players based in France [due to COVID 19 laws guiding the country], Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr has extended an invitation to KRC Genk striker Paul Onuachu. Henry Onyekuru was earlier called up to replace injured Samuel Kalu,” read a statement from the NFF media channel.

The three-time African champions will take on the Squirrels at Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto Novo on March 27 before facing the Crocodiles three days later at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
