Pirlo highlights Ronaldo’s record at Juventus

Juventus manager, Andrea Pirlo, has defended Cristiano Ronaldo’s record at the club following criticism after they were eliminated from the Champions League against Porto.

Sergio Oliveira’s 115th-minute free kick squeezed through the wall after Ronaldo had turned his back and lifted his leg up, as Porto progressed on away goals.

Former Juve manager, Fabio Capello, described the 36-year-old’s role in their exit as “the worst”.

The criticism led to various reports that Ronaldo was unhappy at the club and looking for a return to Real Madrid, whom he had left to join Juve, but Pirlo dismissed the rumours.

“It’s normal that he’s disappointed, as is the whole squad,” Pirlo told a press conference ahead of the Serie A clash with Cagliari on Sunday.

“And it is normal there are rumours after an elimination.

“He is the most talked about footballer in the world alongside [Lionel] Messi – people are always talking about him. It’s worth reminding that he has always done well.

“He has 90 goals in a hundred games for Juventus and has always shown his worth.”

custody of son, no spousal support in Adele divorce

LOS ANGELES — Adele will share custody of her 8-year-old son and won’t be paying child support to her now-ex-husband Simon Konecki, according to divorce documents obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.

The couple separated in August of 2019, and Adele filed for divorce the following month. A Los Angeles judge finalized the divorce last week.

According to the documents, the 32-year-old Adele and the 46-year-old Konecki used mediation to amicably reach the terms of the split. Both waived the right to seek spousal support, and both agreed to joint legal and physical custody of son Angelo, who was born in 2012. The papers say they will seek to resolve any issues without litigation.

Adele kept her original legal name, Adele Adkins, during her marriage.

The British singing superstar married Konecki, co-founder of Life Water, an eco-friendly brand of bottled water, in May of 2018, according to court documents. But she referred to him as “my husband” during a Grammy acceptance speech in 2017, and the two had been a couple for several years when they wed.

Akoka denies installing CCTV in female hostel amid outrage

The Federal College of Education, FCE (Technical), Akoka, Lagos, has denied the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) in female hostels.

gathered that last Friday, the students staged a protest over alleged invasion of their privacy by the school management.

There was outrage on social media after a recording of a CCTV camera found in one of the hostels went viral.

Addressing reporters at a briefing, Wahab Azeez, the Provost, absolved the institution.

Azeez said the students’ demonstration was over the eviction of illegal occupants from the Independent Hall.

“It is true that some students demonstrated on Friday, March 5, 2021, basically to protest against the ejection of illegal female occupants and not because of what was reported”, NAN quoted him as saying.

The Provost noted that the installation of cameras for security purpose was ongoing in public places of the College and not in female hostels.

Azeez disclosed that the school processed and obtained TETFund sponsorship to install CCTV Cameras on the perimeter fence and buildings including male and female hostels.

“The CCTV Cameras is not in the rooms, bathrooms or toilet areas. The installation is yet to be completed and not activated. No student privacy can be breached, it’s an installation done purely for security reasons.”

The Provost also denied that 7,000 persons are cramped in the College accommodation that has 3,646 capacity.

The students, he insisted, are comfortably accommodated, adding that the rules guiding the hostels do not permit illegal occupants or squatters.
