NEWS : NIN registration to be suspended over large crowd

The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamora, has hinted that the ongoing

National Identification Number (NIN) registration may be suspended over COVID-19 risks.

Mamora Stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday.

He urged the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to go back to the drawing board and re-order the process to avoid large crowds at its centres nationwide.

Mamora who is also a member of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, said the government has a duty to ensure citizens are protected at all times.

“I don’t feel good-looking at the picture where people are gathered in multitude; it is like a superspreader event which we don’t like.

“But I’m also aware that the relevant ministry which is the communications and digital economy is looking at this.

“My understanding is that the whole process may be suspended, so as to reorder the whole process in terms of management of the crowd,” Mamora said.

Locate Eastern Security Network Officials, Camp In South-East – Police

The Nigeria Police Force has described as propaganda the recently launched Eastern Security Network,

saying its operatives have yet to locate any ESN official or camp in the South-East states.

However, the police added that it would not relent in monitoring and nipping in the bud crimes and suspected criminals in the region and nationwide.

A top police spokesperson, who did not want his name in print, stated this in an interview with SaharaReporters, noting that the police could not find any evidence at the moment.

"Has any of your reporters come across any ESN official on the road, or in the street or anywhere in the South-East? The police have not found anyone.

It is all propaganda and publicising the propaganda will make them achieve their objective to seek popularity.

On Wednesday, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra had posted photographs of food supplies that it would give to ESN operatives deployed to villages to flush out bandits and other criminals.

IPOB had stated that this gesture was carried out in about four local government areas of Ebonyi State.

"IPOB from four LGAs in Ebonyi North contributed (money) and bought these food items for our ESN operatives. The IPOB leaders noted that the food supplies would be utilised by the ESN operatives while defending the state against the Fulani bandits and terrorists," an ESN official had noted.

"The police are on the ground and are monitoring every development. But we have not found any ESN official or camp anywhere."

ad, last week, reported that the Nigerian Army's aircraft and soldiers were combing some forests in the South-East states where the ESN, recently launched by Nnamdi Kanu, is said to be camping.

From the drones and hidden cameras believed to be installed by the ESN, a video captured the Nigerian Army helicopters and their vehicles and soldiers searching for the camp of the ESN to make arrests.

Kanu, a leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, on December 12, launched the ESN, saying the regional security outfit, just like Amotekun in the South-West, would help to tackle insecurity in the region.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has asked Dave Umahi, to stop intimidating citizens

The Indigenous People of Biafra has asked the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, to stop intimidating citizens of the state because he has allegedly been promised the position of vice-presidential in 2023.

This warning was contained in a statement signed by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Tuesday.

The group alleged that the governor ordered the arrest of innocent locals that reportedly exposed the atrocities of terrorist herdsmen in Ebonyi communities.

The statement read in part, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra wish to warn Gov Umahi against the grave implications of his actions. Declaring law abiding citizens wanted simply because they exposed and confronted foreign terrorists in Ebonyi State is worse than terrorism itself.

“It only goes to show that Umahi and other eastern politicians know more about the incessant killings, rapes and other atrocities in Ebonyi communities by Fulani herdsmen and terrorists than they are willing to admit.

“It is the height of foolery that Gov Dave Umahi will support foreign terrorist herdsmen against his own people that voted for him. Does Dave Umahi not know that our mothers for years now have been afraid of going to their farms for fear of being raped by Fulani terrorists and other evil activities of Miyetti Allah?”

I thought the mass killing , the daily raping of married women in the presence of their helpless husbands and the regular mass abduction of infants and adults were only limited to Southern Kaduna , plateau , the middle belt , The entire Northern Nigeria and the SOUTH-WEST until after i came across the following lines ; “We the Indigenous People of Biafra wish to warn Gov Umahi against the grave implications of his actions. Declaring law abiding citizens wanted simply because they exposed and confronted foreign terrorists in Ebonyi State !“It only goes to show that Umahi and other eastern politicians know more about the incessant killings, rapes and other atrocities in Ebonyi communities by Fulani herdsmen and terrorists than they are willing to admit.

Republican Senator demands Trump’s immediate resignation

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, (Alaska) has called on President Donald Trump to resign immediately, following the riots at the Capitol on Wednesday.

Murkowski, by so doing, becomes the first Republican senator to call for the President’s resignation.

Trump is under fire for inciting his supporters to launch a deadly attack on US Capitol on Wednesday in an attempt to stop the certification of Biden’s victory.

The House has vowed to commence the process for his impeachment and this will automatically rule him out from contesting for the position again.

“I want him to resign. I want him out. He has caused enough damage,” Murkowski said in an interview with the Anchorage Daily News.

“I think he should leave. He said he’s not going to show up. He’s either been golfing or he’s been inside the Oval Office fuming and throwing every single person who has been loyal and faithful to him under the bus, starting with the vice president,” Murkowski told the paper.

President Trump has refused to accepted defeat and has insisted that the presidential election of November 3 was rigged in Democratic Party candidate, Joe Biden favour.

He has, however, been unable to provide proofs that back up his claims and has lost most of the numerous court cases he filed challenging the election result.

Trump is not above the law – Biden issues strong warning

US President-elect, Joe Biden, has warned President Donald Trump that he is not above the law.

Biden stated this in a tweet on Saturday night.

“Our president is not above the law.

“Justice serves the people — it doesn’t protect the powerful,” Biden wrote.

This also comes amid reports that Trump is considering pardoning himself.

Trump will be out of office on January 20, the day Biden will assume power.

It is believed Trump is discussing the issue of clemency with his aides.

Between December 22 and 24, 2020, he approved scores of pardons, including to allies convicted for criminal offences.

The President is reportedly weighing both the legal and political implication of a self-pardon.

NEWS : Buhari told to demand Nnamdi Kanu’s extradition from UK, Israel

The Igbo professional group, Coalition of South East Professionals Network in Nigeria and Diaspora (CSEPNND), has asked the Federal Government to demand the extradition of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu from the United Kingdom.

The professionals in an open letter to the Federal Government urged it to immediately proceed with calls to ensure that Kanu faces the law over his involvement in alleged treasonable felony.

In the open letter dated January 8th, 2021 and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, the group explained that its action was based on Kanu’s activities in relation to IPOB in the country.

The National President of the group, Prof. Madumere Chika alleged that the IPOB leader was hiding under the cordial relationship between Nigeria both countries to carry out activities.

Describing Kanu as a fugitive who escaped Nigeria after being granted bail following allegations of treasonable felony, the coalition suggested that Israel and the UK can repatriate him given that he is in the nation’s wanted list.

The group said Kanu, having evaded justice in the country, boasted in a viral internet live broadcast that he will never submit to the trial that was suspended because of his disappearance from the country.

The Coalition appealed to all foreign nations to direct their embassies to cooperate and assist Nigeria in tracking down Kanu and hand him over to Nigerian authorities to face the law of the land.

“We are constrained to write this open letter to the Federal Government of Nigeria through the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, to immediately write the Government of the United Kingdom, requesting the extradition of our fugitive son and founder of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to Nigeria to continue his trial over alleged treasonable felony,” the group said.

The group alleged that the IPOB leader was taking advantage of his sojourn abroad to cause insurrection by inciting members of the proscribed IPOB to violence.

It recalled that, in the eyes of the law, IPOB remains a terrorist organisation, as it had been so declared by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

“We call on both the UK and Israel not to be seen to be facilitating the inglorious activities of a fugitive in Nigeria.
