Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu under fire over threat against Southeast governors, vigilantes

  A Coalition of South-East groups has condemned threats by the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s to governors of the region following their opposition of his militia outfit named “Eastern Security Network”. The coalition also lauded southeast governors for their unity in denouncing Kanu’s actions, warning Ndigbo not to fall prey to the IPOB leaders’ antics. Recall that IPOB had threatened South-East governors not to work against the Eastern Security Network he created or be prepared to face dire consequences and asked local vigilantes in the region not to allow themselves to be used by the governors. However, the Coalition of Igbo Groups, reacting to IPOB’s threats, tasked the region’s governors not to succumb to Kanu’s tricks, insisting that his activities were illegal to the law of the land and humanity. 485 Police Constabulary pass out from Cross River Police Training School

  The 2nd Batch of 485 Special Police Constabulary have passed out from the Police Training School in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State. Nine bandits killed along Kaduna-Abuja road

  The Kaduna State Government, on Tuesday, confirmed that nine bandits were neutralized along Kaduna -Abuja road. This was contained in a statement by the state Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State. Mr. Samuel Aruwan. According to him, “The Kaduna State Government has been informed by the military securing the Kaduna-Abuja Road general area, that troops neutralized nine armed bandits following a firefight late on Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday.” The statement further said, the operational feedback, troops acted on intelligence that the bandits were attempting to cross over from the eastern part of the Kaduna-Abuja road to the western part, with a large herd of rustled cattle. “The herders whose cattle had been rustled from the eastern part of the route alerted the military for immediate action. “An ambush was successfully laid by the troops, as the bandits walked into the killing zone and were welcomed with a hail of bullets. “After the firef...

  Tottenham Hotspur forward, Gareth Bale, will miss the next “few weeks” after he suffered a calf injury in their League Cup quarter-final win at Stoke City last week, manager Jose Mourinho has said. Bale, who is on loan from La Liga champions, Real Madrid, started and scored in the 3-1 victory, but was withdrawn at halftime. Mourinho is short of backup options in attack with the former Chelsea manager saying Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius were also doubts for Wednesday’s Premier League match against Fulham. “No, I don’t expect him [Gareth Bale] to be fit, and also I have my doubts that Lucas and Vinicius can be fit for Fulham. “I would not say it is serious [for Bale], but I would say a few weeks,” Mourinho told reporters when asked about Bale’s status. The lawmaker also rubbished the comment by Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, that the National Assembly lacks the powers to summon President Muhammadu Buhari. Ogunlola represents Ijero/Efon/Ekiti West Federal Constituency. She noted that Malami was being “clever’ by half”, wondering if he saw nothing wrong in the incessant attacks by terrorists, kidnappers and bandits. Insecurity, Ortom denies asking Nigerians to own guns

  The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has denied calling for the arming of all Nigerians, amid the crisis of kidnapping and banditry in the country. Ortom explained that he only called for responsible Nigerians to be given licence to own guns. The governor was reacting to a report titled “Governor Ortom’s double speak,” over the issue of Nigerians owning guns. A statement by Ortom’s spokesman, Tever Akase said the governor’s recent charge to Benue youths was to encourage them to support security operatives with timely and useful information to enable them win the war against insecurity.
