NEWS : Why COVID-19 vaccine must be evaluated before Nigerians receive it – Nigerian Doctors

The Nigeria Medical Association NMA has asked the federal government to carry out an independent evaluation of the COVID-19 vaccine before administering it on Nigerians.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV on. Monday, President of the medical body, Professor Innocent Ujah said an evaluation of the vaccine is necessary considering Nigeria’s biological, environmental and genetic composition.

Professor Ujah recalled the era of chloroquine use when some Southern parts of the country were not responding to the drug the same way those in some parts of the North were.

”If the vaccines come to Nigeria, we need to quickly do our own evaluation of that vaccine. I cannot say with 100% certainty that in the process of developing this vaccine and the clinical trial whether African countries were involved.

“While we do not question the efficacy and safety, these things vary from place to place. The responses vary from place to place.

“In totality, it was thought that Chloroquine wasn’t effective and we changed.

“If we have to use the vaccine, we need to do our own clinical trials and see. For everything that is happening now is an emergency.

“Even the vaccine that is produced within nine months is an emergency. Otherwise, vaccine production doesn’t take within six to nine months. It is a process,” he said.

Recall that the Presidential Taskforce (PTF) on COVID-19 had promised that at least 40 million Nigerians will receive the vaccine for free when it is procured.

NEWS : Reps denies reports of apologizing to Buhari over invitation

The House of Representatives has denied reports that it apologized to President Muhamadu Buhari over the saga that followed his recent invitation to the National Assembly.

It would be recalled that the House recently invited the President following a motion moved by some lawmakers from Borno.

However, the President declined to honour the invitation after he had initially agreed to do so.

The development led to the call by some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calling for the impeachment of the President.

In a statement by the Speaksperson of the House, Ben Kalu, he debunked media reports that the House apologized to the President over the invitation.

“It has come to the knowledge of the House that few sections of the media reported that the House apologized to the Presidency over the resolution of the House which arose from the motion sponsored by members from Borno State, requesting for the invitation of the President to brief the nation on the state of insecurity in the country.

“The President or the Presidency as the case may be, never sought for an apology from the House of Representatives for carrying out her constitutional responsibility to the Nigerian electorate. Where then did the media get the report that the House as an institution apologized to anyone? Media professionals are advised to uphold the ethics of their profession.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the House never apologized to anyone for exercising her constitutional mandate and the 9th Assembly of the House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila will not do anything to desecrate or destroy the critical institution of democracy – the Legislature. We strongly believe that President Muhammadu Buhari subscribes to these democratic ethos and ideals as well,” he said.

NEWS : Dangote strikes a private contract deal worth N63bn with ANAMMCO plant Enugu-based automaker

Dangote Group has entered into a long-term agreement with an Enugu-based automaker, Transit Support Services Limited, for the supply of Shacman trucks being assembled at the Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company Limited’s factory in Emene, Enugu.

Already, the group has purchased 3,500 trucks from the automaker worth N63bn, according to the Managing Director of the Transit Support Services, Mr Frank Nneji.

Nneji, who spoke with journalists on Saturday after a facility tour of the truck assembly line at the ANAMMCO plant, said the supplies amounted to over 90 per cent of all Shackman trucks assembled at the factory since the revival of the plant after a long period of abandonment.

“About 90 per cent of trucks produced here are for Dangote. Right now at the dump, we have about 300 units.
Since last year, we have done 800 units. Dangote Group since inception has bought about 3,500 units from us. It also patronises the Shackman trucks for its refinery currently being built in Lagos,” he said.

He said the project had also kept busy the Onne port, which was dormant for many years.

According to him, the port is used for the delivery of vehicle components supplied to the ANAMMCO plant by its partner from China, Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile Import & Export Company.

Nneji, who is also the MD of ABC Transport Plc, the franchise holder of the Shacman Nigeria, said the Dangote/Shacman truck deal had benefited the people in the area immensely through job creation and training of young school leavers.

He said, “This has been of tremendous benefit for the people in the South-East. For more than seven years, this place was shut down.

“There was no activity until Shackman came and we made an agreement with the Shacman Group and we started skeletally.”

He added, “We were only able to start full production of trucks when we offered logistics solutions to the Dangote Group. That was in 2016 when we started the first agreement for 500 trucks.

“With this, many workers of ANAMMCO who had been at home had to come back to work; some local suppliers of lubricants, electrolyte and the rest had to return to business.”

Nneji noted that the resuscitation of the ANAMMCO plant was made possible through the establishment of the auto policy which encouraged local production of automobiles

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, Dangote Group, Mr Sunday Esan, said Dangote was satisfied with the quality of Shacman trucks and assured of continued patronage.

NEWS : Femi Fani-Kayode blasts Shehu Garba for describing Leah Sharibu as "unfortunate Christian girl"

Femi Fani-Kayode the former Nigeria Aviation Ministers and the former Director of Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck has lambasted Shehu Garba, the spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari for describing Leah Sharibu as the "unfortunate Christian girl stolen by Boko Haram".

Sharibu was kidnapped along with other 112 Dapchi schoolgirls on February 19, 2018 by Boko Haram Sharibu was reportedly not released along with the others because she refused to deny her christian faith.

In what look like a war of words between Reno Omokri the former spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan and Shehu Garba, the spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari. Femi Fani-Kayode described the statement by spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari as heartless, arrogant, insensitive and bigoted...

His facebook post read:

In response to a legitimate and interesting challenge from my friend and brother Pastor Reno Omokri, the former spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan, Shehu Garba, the spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari, has described the great Leah Sharibu as the "unfortunate Christian girl stolen by Boko Haram".

As far as he is concerned Leah has no name but she is just an "unfortunate Christian girl".  The presidential spokesman is heartless, arrogant, insensitive and bigoted. Would he have spoken like this about Leah if she was a Muslim? Why did feel the need to mention her faith?

Does the fact that she is Christian make her a lesser Nigerian? Is she a chattel or a piece of property that can be described as being "stolen"? Is she not a human being too? Or is the fact that she is Christian or that she is a female make her less human?  Nigerians deserve far better than this. The Christian community in Nigeria deserves far better too! This is an insult on every Christian and every right-thinking Nigerian.

May God judge and punish Shehu Garba and those he represents for speaking in this way about Leah, one of the greatest Christian heroes that Nigeria has ever known and a deeply courageous soul who sacrificed her liberty (and possibly her life) by standing proudly for her faith and refusing to convert to Islam even at the point of a knife and gun.

What we need in Nigeria are a few Samir Geagea's, the leader of the old Lebanese Kataeb Regulatory Forces and Christian Falange (Uwait).

If you want to know more about him and them and the role they played in fighting Islamic fundamentalism in the Lebanese civil war either google it or go to Lebanon and find out.

To attempt to insult, demean or belittle a Christian hero like Leah simply because you do not share her faith is inexcusable and unforgivable. This is the turning point and we will never forget it.

BIAFRA : Armed self-defence, the only Language Nigeria Government understands---Nnamdi Kanu

The grossly demonized Nigeria government in it's consistent false statements, is at it again, trying to lure people into believing that it's officials are pro-active in securing the country.

The Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who recently appeared on Channels Television and Sunrise Daily said:

“We have to stop these herders from roaming and eating up crops all over the country. They drive their cattle into farmlands and they eat up crops and the farmers fight back and the killings follow.

This country cannot continue in this way". This is a bunch of lie, because as I am typing this, I am still seeing these Islamic terrorists roaming around people's farms.

Shehu blamed the roaming of the herdsmen on the drying up of grazing lands in the northern parts of Nigeria. He continued:

“The encroachment by desert leading to the drying up of a lot of grazing lands in the Northern most parts of the country have put pressure on the herders who are looking South-West for green grass so that their cattle will eat and also have water to drink.

It is a global climate change situation which is unfortunate, considering what has happened around Lake Chad basin itself, drying up about only ten per cent of it's original size.”

NEWS : Nigeria is on the verge of breakup---Middle Belt leader

A Middle Belt leader, Prof Yusuf Turaki, has said that Nigeria is on the verge of breakup - The northern professor said that unless the 1999 constitution is amended, the country may cease to exist - Turaki, however,

lamented the rate of insecurity in Nigeria.  Professor Yusuf Turaki has warned that Nigeria may break up at any time if the leadership of the country continues with the 1999 constitution.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the academic guru described the 1999 constitution as an ‘apartheid constitution.’

Turaki, who is one of the conveners of the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self Determination, said he could not fathom why the country is not progressing 6o years after the independence.

A prominent northern leader, Professor Yusuf Turaki, said it is time to amend the 1999 constitution. Source: Youtube.com Source: UGC He said: "What I have discovered on what is happening to us today had a historical foundation, which was laid down by empire builders or social reformers.

I traced myself back historically. How did the British Colonial administration set up the country that we call Nigeria? "In the north,

I decided to study two ethnic groups or people groups – the Muslim group and the non-Muslim group, and I wanted to look at how the British colonial administration developed its policies, administrative practices towards the Muslim group and the non-Muslim group in northern Nigeria."

Speaking further, Turaki described the 1999 Constitution is a fraud, adding that anybody who says the 1999 constitution is the best instrument for Nigeria is using it for his selfish interest. Turaki noted: "Yes, the 1999 constitution is a fraud.

Anybody who says the 1999 constitution is the best instrument for Nigeria that fellow is using this constitution that has given him or her an advantageous position over all others in Nigeria and that is, we repudiate that this constitution is a product by a military clique imposed upon unwilling Nigerians.

" He stressed that Nigeria may implode if the rate of insecurity is not checkmated, alleging that the government of the day is not serving the interest of the people. Turaki stated: "Nigeria is already on course to fall off the cliff.

It is not a matter of may. If Nigeria does not change; if Nigeria does not do away with the contrived 1999 constitution,

it is going to implode. Not that it is going to implode, it has already started imploding. "There is no government today that serves the interest of the people. Nigerian government today serves the interest of the political elites, but it doesn’t serve the interest of the common people in the country."

Meanwhile, Legit news had previously reported that tragedy struck again in Borno state as suspected Boko Haram members attacked Chibok local government area on Christmas eve.

It was reported that the insurgents killed six people and burnt down the EYN (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria) also known as Church of the Brethren in Nigeria in Pemi, an award under Chibok LGA.
