SPORT : EPL, Arsenal told to replace Arteta with Vieira

Former Chelsea defender, William Gallas, has urged Arsenal to hire Patrick Vieira if they sack Mikel Arteta.

Arteta is overseeing a poor run of form at the Emirates, with the Gunners sitting in 15th place ahead of Saturday’s trip to Everton.

Pressure is, however, mounting on the Spaniard and Gallas, who himself is a former Arsenal captain and feels Arteta is out of his depth.

The Frenchman is keen to see another club legend Vieira, who was recently sacked by Nice, back at the club.

“Patrick has more experience than Mikel because he’s managed in America and he spent time at Nice. So when the Arsenal board decided to pick a new manager I thought Patrick would get the call.

“He was captain of Arsenal and he knows the club very well. Patrick was the right guy then. If they have to sack Mikel Arteta, they have to choose Patrick Vieira to replace him, and I’m sure all the fans would love it,” Gallas told Ladbrokes.

SPORT : Everton vs Arsenal, Arteta set to bring in Isco from Real Madrid

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is looking at a January move for Real Madrid midfielder, Isco, according to Sport.

It is believed that Isco will be allowed to leave the La Liga giants next month, although he does not have any concrete offers yet.

Everton, Juventus, Sevilla and AC Milan are also monitoring the Spaniard’s situation.

It is not known what sort of fee Real would want for a player who has only featured 10 times in all competitions so far this season.

Isco’s deal runs until 2022, but Real are eager to get his £6million wages off their books.

Arteta is under intensifying pressure after a six-game winless run in the Premier League.

The Gunners are languishing in 15th place in the Premier League table, after drawing 1-1 at home to Southampton in midweek.

SPORT : Sheffield United vs Man Utd, Michael Owen singles out one player after EPL 3-2 win

Former Manchester United star, Michael Owen, has expressed his delight with striker, Marcus Rashford’s performance in their 3-2 win over Sheffield United in the Premier League on Thursday.

Owen described Rashford’s display against Sheffield as ‘excellent’, adding that the England international was a real danger during the encounter.

Two goals from Marcus Rashford and a strike from Anthony Martial gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men all three points against Sheffield at Bramall Lane.

Speaking about Rashford, Owen told Amazon Prime Sport: “I thought his movement was excellent, his timing of the runs too.

“I never thought he was a central player. He never played that at youth level, he always wanted to be a number ten or a wide player. It suits him, and it suits Martial, he is the best out of the two to play down the middle.

“His (Rashford) ‘s running off the ball was a real danger. They’re one of the best counter-attacking teams in the country.”
