NEWS : SSCE, WAEC, to punish cheating students, supervisors, schools



 The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has disclosed that students involved in examination malpractices would be barred from taking the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, henceforth.

This was made public by WAEC’s Examination Committee after its 70th Meeting, on Monday.

A statement by the committee also vowed to blacklist supervisors involved in malpractices.

The committee, which is the highest decision-making organ of the council, said those affected would be banned for some years.

The committee also threatened to sanction schools involved in examination malpractice.

“In addition, some candidates will also suffer other sanctions such as barring them from sitting for the Council’s examination for a certain number of years, some schools will be derecognised for a specified number of years or have their recognition completely withdrawn, some supervisors that were found wanting in the discharge of their examination duties will be formally reported to their employers and blacklisted,” the statement reads partly.

The Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, on Monday, begged the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye to tell Nigerians whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari is alive or dead.

The cleric also urged the service chiefs to cover their faces in shame over the abduction of more than 300 schoolboys in Kankara, Kastina State.

In a statement sent to DAILY POST on Monday, Giwa, in his reaction to the ugly development begged “Pastor Adeboye and those who supported the APC to win the 2015 election to tell Nigerians whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari is alive or dead.”

Recall that more than 300 schoolboys are still missing after gunmen attacked a secondary school in Kankara, a town in Nigeria’s northwestern Katsina state, authorities said.

Attackers on motorcycles stormed the all-boys Government Science School late on Friday and engaged security forces in a fierce gun battle, forcing hundreds of students to flee and hide in the surrounding forest.

However, Pastor Giwa wondered why “the nation would have a president who could not lay his life for his citizens by protecting them.”

The cleric added, “By now, nobody should have advised the service chiefs to resign before they do so.”

NEWS : Kankara Bring our children back – Parents of abducted students protest [PHOTOS]

 


Parents of the abducted students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara on Sunday staged a protest over the sad incident.

The protesters marching with placards, called on the Federal Government to immediately rescue their children.

Some of the parents held placards with the inscriptions such as ‘Government must speak out’, ‘We want our children back’ and ‘We want security in Kankara’.

DAILY POST recalls that the students were abducted by armed bandits in the early hours of Saturday, December 12.

The Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari confirmed that about 333 students are still missing.

The governor, who ordered closure of all schools, assured the residents that the students will be rescued soon.

NEWS : BIAFRA ,Nnamdi Kanu launches Eastern Security Network

 


Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has launched the Eastern Security Network, ESN.

Kanu explained that the ESN was launched to protect the Southeast from marauding Fulani herdsmen and other criminal elements.

The IPOB leader also disclosed that ESN was not different from Amotekun in the Southwest and Miyetti Allah in the North.

Kanu’s launch of ESN was disclosed in a statement signed by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful.

He warned armed robbers, kidnappers, to vacate the Southeast or be prepared “for the worst.”

Kanu vowed that the new security outfit will adequately defend the Southeast.

He also disclosed that mobile numbers would be released so people can call whenever there is any case of criminality in the region.

Kanu lamented that terrorists have converted forest in the Southeast into slaughter grounds and raping fields.

The statement reads partly: “We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to announce with delight, that IPOB has floated a special security network to guard and protect the whole of Biafraland from Fulani herdsmen terrorists and other criminal groups.

“The sole aim of this newly formed Security outfit known as Eastern Security Network (ESN), is to halt every criminal activity and terrorists attack in Biafraland.

“This outfit which is a vigilante group like the Amotekun in the South West and the Miyetti Allah security outfit will ensure the safety of our forests and farm lands which terrorists have converted into slaughter grounds and raping fields.”

NEWS : Gunmen kill ex-House of Reps candidate in Oyo

 


Some gunmen have killed a former House of Representatives candidate in Oyo State.

DAILY POST gathered that Dr. Fatai Aborode, was killed Friday evening.

He contested the House of Representatives election on the platform of the Accord Party in 2015.

Our correspondent learnt on Saturday that Aborode, who recently defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was killed near his farm, along Apodun village in Iganagan town in Oyo State.

Igangan is in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state, DAILY POST learnt.

Our correspondent learnt that Aborode was repeatedly shot by the gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

A source disclosed that Aborode and his manager were attacked on their way back home by the assailant suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

However, Public Relations Officer of the State Police command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, when contacted said that he has no details of the incident

Fadeyi in a reply to DAILY POST noted that he has not gotten details of the incident.

He said, “I must get details, pls.”

NEWS : Nigerian govt rescues mother of four trafficked to Egypt

 


The Nigerian government has facilitated the return of a 35-year-old mother of four, identified Omowunmi Rhoda Aladeboyeje, who was allegedly trafficked to Cairo, Egypt by her elder brother.

The brother deceived her about a nursing job in the United States but she ended up in Cairo.

Nigerians in Diaspora Commission in a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head, Media and Public Relations Unit Abuja, said the victim was trafficked on March 17, 2020, and claimed to be sexually harassed on a regular basis, beaten frequently and home imprisoned sometimes.

Part of the statement read: “Rhoda, a mother of four, was trafficked by her immediate elder brother who claimed there was a nursing job opportunity in America.

“However, going to America turned out to be a ruse. She was trafficked to Egypt and went through so much torture and hell.”

NIDCOM disclosed that they found out about her case after they got a distress call from her family member.

After which, the Nigerian mission in Cairo contacted all necessary agencies to immediately put all logistics in place to facilitate her return.

“With that completed and with Rhoda in the safe custody of the mission, her family made provisions for her ticket home,” the statement added.

Balogun added that Rhoda, who is an auxiliary Nurse by profession, is presently on her way to her home town Okitipupa in Ondo State.

NEWS : Unknown gunmen kidnap retired Grand Khadi in Kogi

 


Unknown gunmen gave kidnapped a retired grand Khadi in Kogi State, Justice Zachariah Idakwoji Muhammed.

DAILY POST gathered that Justice Muhammed was kidnapped along Ochadamu-Okabo, few kilometers to Anyigba on Sunday.

It was further learnt that his driver was also kidnapped with him.

Although their whereabouts are still unknown, a family source, who never wanted his name to be mentioned, confirmed the kidnap of the two victims to our correspondent on Sunday evening.

When contacted, the Kogi State Police Public Relations officer, (PPRO), DSP William Aya, told DAILY POST that he was yet to get any official report about the incident.

However, he promised to get back to our correspondent when he gets first handsl information from Anyigba division of the Nigeria Police Force.
