BIAFRA 2023: Southern Nigeria wants restructuring not presidency – Fani-Kayode fires back at El-Rufai

BIAFRA  Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, on Monday said the Southern part of the country was more interested in restructuring than 2023 presidency.
Fani-Kayode made the remark in response to the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s comment that the Southern part of the country should be allowed to produce Nigeria’s next president.

El-Rufai had suggested that the Southern part of the country should be allowed to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023.
The governor, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had said that the North had no reason to hold onto power at the end of Buhari’s second tenure.
“But as a group, the Northern APC will have to sit down and endorse someone, most likely someone from the South, because after eight years of Buhari, I don’t think the Presidency should remain in the north unless there is some extenuating circumstances. But all things being equal, we will honour our agreement and we keep our words,” El-Rufai had said.

However, the former Minister insisted that the Southern part of the country was interested in their freedom.
In a tweet, he described Nigeria’s presidency as “accursed.”
“To those that seek to appease us by saying that they may concede the Presidency to the south in 2023 I say this. The south is more interested in restructuring or outright independence than the Presidency. Give us our freedom and keep your accursed Presidency,” he tweeted.

BIAFRA : Umahi orders arrest, sack of coordinator, TA for masterminding killings at PDP primaries

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi at the weekend ordered immediate sack and arrest of Ubeyi Development Centre Coordinator, Hon. Uche Ibiam, who allegedly shot dead one Enyinna Ibiam at the state primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The order came barely two days after the bloody councillorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which took place in the 13 LGA and in 171 political wards of the state.
The councillorship primaries were said to have recorded lots of damages, as many prominent persons, candidates were attacked and maimed by thugs at the various ward’s.
Recall that the sacked coordinator Hon. Uche Ibiam was said to have pulled out a gun and shot at his own brother Ibiam Ogbonnaya Junior, (aka Terror) Technical Assistant (T.A) to the governor on security, but fortunately, he dodged the bullet and it hit another person.
The victim, Enyinna Ibiam was before his death a staff of the Federal Polytechnic Uwanna but died while trying to separate a fight between the sacked coordinator and his brother, when the bullet hit him and pierced through the nose.
The governor, who ordered the arrest and sack of the said person, made this known in a statement signed by the secretary to Ebonyi state government, SSG, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala and forwarded to DAILY POST in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
The statement reads in part: “His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Nweze Umahi, has directed the immediate removal from office and arrest of the Coordinator Ubeyi Development Centre, Hon. Uche Ibiam and Mr. Ibiam Ogbonnaya Junior, (aka Terror) Technical Assistant (T.A) to Governor on Security, for allegedly being involved in a murder case.
“The Governor further directed that security agents should carry out full investigation and prosecute all those found guilty in accordance to the law.
“His Excellency further assures Ebonyians of his continuous commitment in protecting life and property in the State,” the governor stated.

BIAFRA : Imo Forum reacts to ‘withdrawal’ of Kanu Agabi as Ihedioha’s lawyer

Kingsley Onwubiko, Convener, Imo Concerned Citizens Forum (ICCF) says Kanu Agabi, SAN, is still the lead counsel to former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, NAN reports.
Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had asked the Supreme Court to review the Imo gubernatorial election judgment.
Ihedioha, through Agabi, a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, wants the court to set aside the judgement, which installed Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as governor.
Onwubiko, in a statement on Sunday, dismissed insinuations that Agabi had withdrawn from the pending case.
“The rumor that Agabi has withdrawn from the Supreme Court review is not only baseless but concocted to misinform the unsuspecting public and in a bid to distort the fact,” he said.
The ICCF convener, who described Agabi as a conscientious lawyer, called on media practitioners to always investigate facts for better and qualitative dissemination of information.
“Chief Agabi, by his attainment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a former Attorney General of the country and the lead counsel to Emeka Ihedioha, his withdrawal, if true, would have made headlines in national dailies.
“Kanu Agabi, SAN, has reassured that he is emotionally committed to getting justice in the matter for review between Uzodinma and Ihedioha, at the Supreme Court Of Nigeria,” the forum added.
Onwubiko expressed optimism in the competence of Ihedioha’s legal team in restoring the former governor’s mandate.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad is leading a panel on the hearing on the case.
The panel will also hear the application by Zamfara All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the governorship election judgement in favour of the PDP.
Other members of the panel are: Justices Sylvester Ngwuta, Kayode Ariwoola, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, Inyang Okoro, Amina Augie, and Uwani Abba-Aji.
The court, last Tuesday, adjourned hearing on Ihedioha’s application to March 2.

What Our Parents’ Death Has Done To Us – Nnamdi Kanu’s Family

Biafra: What Our Parents' Death Has Done To Us - Nnamdi Kanu's Family
The family of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), said the death of their parents have made them more united against the belief by some persons that the family would scatter after the burial.
Naija News reports that the spokesman of the family, Kanunta Kingsley Kanu, made this known while addressing journalists at their Isiama Afaraukwu country home in Abia state, southeast Nigeria.
Though their elder brother, Nnamdi who is the first son of the family, was absent at their parents’ burial ceremony, the family of late Israel and Ugoeze Sally Kanu said that they were grateful that the burial of their parents which held on Valentine’s day, February 14, was a huge success.
The spokesman of the family thanked Abia State police command and journalists for their contributions towards the peaceful and successful burial of their parents and commended members of the IPOB in the state and beyond who stood with the family before, during and after the burial said that their parents were an embodiment of peace when they were alive.
Kanunta said it was for this reason that his father as the traditional ruler of Afaraukwu, was given the title of ‘Omeudo’, stressing that he lived with that peaceful virtue till death.
The spokesman of the family said the family owed a lot of gratitude to journalists within and outside Abia for bringing what transpired at the burial to the entire world.
“I want to tell you journalists that our family members are happy with you, with what you did during the burial and we say a big thank you”.
The spokesman of the family said the family was also thanking the Abia state police command for the manner they conducted themselves which contributed to the peace that reigned during the burial.
According to him, the family was happy that despite the altercation between the police and IPOB before the burial, the commissioner of police, Ene Okon exhibited a true sense of professionalism in the way he maintained security in the state on the day of the burial.
The spokesman of the family said now their parents were no more, the family would strive to remain united and resolute in the fight for the actualization of Biafra, a movement which they said that their parents believed in.

IPOB GLOBAL ISSUESBiafra Republic or Ikenga Republic? 20 Reasons Why Ikenga Republic Will Set the Igbos Apart Globally -By Azuka Onwuka

If you are giving a lecture to a group of Nigerians of different ethnic backgrounds and notice that they are feeling sleepy, just mention Biafra and everybody will become alert. Biafra means so many things to different parts of Nigeria. Many Nigerians are quick to oppose Biafra without even knowing why they are doing so. Only the Igbos are passionate about it.
But what does Biafra mean? Who coined it? One big complaint many people give against the name Nigeria is that it means nothing and was coined by a European. Similarly, Biafra was coined by Europeans (the Bight of Biafra), and means nothing in Igbo language.
But Ikenga is fully Igbo. Ikenga is the symbol of manliness. It is the strength of a man’s right hand. The day a man dies, his Ikenga is cut into two and a part is thrown into his grave. If you destroy a man’s Ikenga, you have killed the man while he is still alive. Ikenga is the symbol of power, bravery, pride and essence of the Igbo man.
Republic of Ikenga therefore means the land of the brave.
It is a name that befits the proposed Igbo nation. It is a name that makes every Igbo person feel proud and strong. It is easy to pronounce and is an Igbo name that is taken from the Igbo cosmology.
With the name Ikenga, it will be a country for Igbos alone, with no other people laying claim to it.
Below are 20 reasons why Republic of Ikenga for Igbos alone is the best thing that will happen to the Igbos:
  1. When the Igbos have their own country like Ikenga Republic, they will no longer be apologetic about their Igboness. They will no longer be too cautious to avoid being called over-ambitious, overbearing, or aggressive.
  2. They can speak and promote their Igbo language all over the world, including using it to address the United Nations or African Union
  3. The patriotism of the citizens will be sky-high as they will be willing to even die for their country unlike now when nobody is ready to die for Nigeria except under compulsion.
  4. Igbos all over the world will be ready to come back or send their resources home to help build the country
  5. Merit will be the bedrock of the country. So competition will help the country to develop fast.
  6. There will be no focus on natural resources; rather the key focus will be on human resources, which will make the country grow fast
  7. Science and technology and commerce will be promoted, making the country a force to reckon with globally.
  8. Christianity will be the main religion; therefore there won’t be any clash of religions and religious killings. However, religion will be separated from governance, making the citizens to practise their religions privately without using them to cause conflicts. Respect for human life will be paramount.
  9. There will be an alliance with Western and Eastern countries that love technology, freedom and capitalism which will aid growth.
  10. It will be a sporting nation, with football being the key sport. The country will excel in global and continental sporting competitions because only the best will be used.
  11. Because of its focus on technology, power supply will be easily available to power all the sectors.
  12. Education will be paramount with high focus on developing the local schools and universities. health. There will be no quota system for admission into schools and universities. So academic excellence will be the order of the day.
  13. The Igbos will not accuse any group of marginalization and no ethnic group will accuse the Igbos of marginalization or domination.
  14. No Igbo will be killed with impunity anymore in any part of the world or have his or her property destroyed for fear that Ikenga Republic will retaliate.
  15. Igbo will become a globally recognized language.
  16. The friction between the Igbos and the Yorubas or Southsouth or the North will disappear, as the Igbos will be seen as foreigners wherever they reside and no longer seen as a threat.
  17. The pride in Igbo culture, language, names, foods, etc will go up, attracting tourists and attention.
  18. Literacy level will rise to 100% as no part of Igbo land will be allowed to scorn education.
  19. Investment level in Igbo land will skyrocket as there will be more patriotic impetus to invest at home and help to boost development.
  20. There will be a high focus on agriculture to avoid being dependent on any country for sustenance.
Finally, the more a people have the same language, same religion, same culture, and same worldview, the less friction they have and the more peaceful and progressive their country is. That is the biggest advantage Republic of Ikenga will have. That is why Europe is the most peaceful and progressive part of the world. Almost every country has its own language. The very few like Switzerland and Belgium with different peoples and languages have created a wonderful system that makes them live in peace.

We’ll give herdsmen bloodiest retaliation – Biafra group vows

The Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has condemned the recent killing of seven villagers in Delta State by suspected Fulani herdsmen, vowing to retaliate.
Recall that the corpses of eight farmers, reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen at Uwheru in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, last Friday were recently exhumed by a search team made up of police personnel and representatives of the community for investigation.
Two of the corpses were exhumed on Sunday, while six others were exhumed on Monday afternoon.
BNYL Chief of General Staff, Linus Asuquo Essien, in a statement to DAILY POST on Friday blamed Southern leaders
for the continuous attacks in the region.
The group said some of the elders have been discouraging BNYL from coordinating reprisals across the
Southeast and Southsouth region “Even as they know what we are made up of and what we are capable of doing.
“These herders have infiltrated our communities and the only way we can force them to retreat is giving them a bloodiest fight back,” they said.
The Pro-Biafra group drew attention to the Nimbo killing in Uzo-uwani LGA of Enugu State.
“We were disappointed when after that horrific experience nothing was done, but the people were told to fast and pray, that alone gave them more mind to advance and they are gradually coming down to Bakassi but we can handle them,” the BYNL said.
According to BYNL, the attackers were not ordinary herdsmen, adding that the Presidency knows how to repatriate the killers back to the North.
BNYL called for more synergies among the Southeast and Southsouth, adding that the target was the old Eastern region.

Biafra group rejects community policing, faults Southeast governors

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has rejected a community policing format proposed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP for the Southeast region.
The BNYL also faulted Southeast leaders for accepting the idea.
National leader of the group, Princewill Chimezie Richard while addressing reporters in Owerri, Imo State capital on Saturday, said that any security still controlled by the Federal government ends in futility.
He lamented decision of the Southeast governors to sideline Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other Pan Igbo organizations who have rejected the proposed community policing.
He said the leadership of Igboland and other areas in the east rest with these social-cultural organizations and not the political leaders
“The Governors are not our leaders, they were elected and can be voted out in next election, the leaders of Igboland
and the entire east falls with the organizations because these groups communicate directly with the masses.
“These Southeast governors should not undermine the power of powerful organizations in the region.”
He accused the Igbo governors of dancing to the tune of the north and the federal government against the interest of the easterners.
Richard said that “the Southeast governors are not decisive when it comes to dealing with the North. Who are those killing our people, are they not the same people that will be directly in control of the so called Community Policing. We reject this idea in its entirety.”
