BIAFRA:Nigerian Govt treated IPOB unjustly – Cardinal Onaiyekan

 
Speaking at his Abuja residence during an interactive session with a faith-based group, Catholic Singles Forum (CSF), the Archbishop said: “The federal government was quick to declare Biafra agitators as terrorists. But Fulani herdsmen are killing people today and similar action has not been taken against them.”

The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, yesterday decried how the Federal government handled the issue of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), lamenting that injustice was meted out on them.
He also faulted the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government’s adamancy in refusing to proscribe armed Fulani herdsmen as terrorists. 
“If something is not done about the security situation in the country, people will keep losing faith in the government and others might soon pick up arms to defend themselves,” he warned.
BIAFRA NATION recalls that the federal government last year proscribed IPOB following its declaration as a terrorist group.

Benson Chacha was reportedly arrested in Tanzania following intelligence by both the Tanzanian and Kenyan security forces about his fraudulent activities.
When he appeared before the Kenyan court presided over by Senior Principal Magistrate, Christine Njagi on Tuesday, he was remanded into police custody. A Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 23-year-old suspected conman accused of having slept with more than 13 female members of the country’s parliament and used it as a ploy to extort money from them. According to reports, Benson Chacha engaged in the sexual encounter with the politicians and filmed them which he has been using to blackmail and demand huge sums of money from them. 
The court further ordered that his mental fitness be examined at Mathari Mental Hospital after his lawyer, Job Geresa claimed he was mentally unfit.
The suspect is currently being held in custody at the Kenyan Central Police Station pending the substantive hearing scheduled for April 9.

BIAFRA: News Buhari has no power to approve $1billion for arms – Senate

The Senate has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval of $1 billion for the procurement of arms.
President Buhari had on Wednesday approved the release of $1 billion for the procurement of security equipment to be used in the fight against Boko Haram. terrorists 
Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Ben Murray- Bruce, PDP, Bayelsa East told Vanguard that the presidency cannot spend such amount of money until the National Assembly approved it.
Bruce said, “It has not been approved, it is simply the choice of words, the presidency or the executive cannot spend a single kobo on such a mission unless the National Assembly approves that. 
But the lawmakers had taken a swipe at the presidency, saying the sum could not be released without its approval.
The senate said the powers to approve such money does not belong to the President.
“It is only when the Senate or the National Assembly approves that, that the executive can go ahead to spend such money.
“The executive can only recommend and not to approve.”

IPOB:Another Nigerian Senator, Bukar Mustapha, is dead

 
Mr. Mustapha was President Muhammadu Buhari’s senator as he represented the president’s senatorial district. Bukar Mustapha, the senator representing Katsina North, is dead. 
He died after a brief illness on Wednesday, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.
The News Agency of Nigeria quotes Mr. Bukar’s elder brother, Umar Bukar, as confirming the news.
Mr. Bukar’s death is coming less than a week after the deputy majority leader of the House of Representatives, Umar Jibril, died after a protracted illness.
It also came about two weeks after another senator, Ali Wakili, passed away.

 The News Agency of Nigeria has clarified that Mr. Bukar’s death was confirmed by his elder brother.

Dan-Ali ‎who indicated that $1 billion was approved for the procurement of the equipment while briefing State House correspondents after the meeting, said the insecurity in Taraba, Zamfara and other states was also discussed.              

  President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday approved the release of $1 billion for the procurement of equipment for the military to prosecute the fight against insecurity in the country.Buhari gave the approval at a meeting he held with the heads of the nation’s security agencies as the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) ‎failed to convene yesterday.                                                                                                 

IPOB:WAEC announces new rules on examination malpractice, reveals what will happen to erring candidates

The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has revealed what will happen to students found guilty of examination malpractice.
WAEC said students caught in examination malpractice will not be allowed to take the exam for some years.
This was part of the resolutions made at the recent 65th Nigeria examinations committee (NEC) meeting which held in Lagos and contained in a communiqué signed by Demianus Ojijieogu, head, public affairs.
The committee approved various sanctions for all established cases of malpractice.
The communiqué reads, “In the course of considering various reported cases of malpractice, the committee, after diligent deliberations approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice, as prescribed by the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the council’s examination.
“It approved the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attract cancellation of entire results (CER) while subject results of those involved in proven cases which attract cancellation of subject results (CSR) be similarly cancelled.
“In addition, some candidates will also suffer other sanctions such as barring them from sitting for the council’s examinations for a certain number of years.
“The decision of the committee will be implemented without delay and the affected candidates and examination centres duly informed by the council. However, the results of candidates who were exonerated by the committee will be released.”

BIAFRA NATION:IPOB reveals what they will do until Nnamdi Kanu returns

 
This was contained in a statement signed by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Saturday, said it would stage fresh protests in 88 countries to compel the Federal Government to produce its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
He noted that the absence of its leader in the country did not mean that the struggle for Biafra was over.
“It is a known fact that IPOB is rooted in every community and town in the South-South and South-East. Our presence is felt even in remote villages where IPOB family members are preaching the gospel of restoration of Biafra.
“So, rather than diminish, our influence is growing on a daily basis. Our positive impact resonates with the people. Our presence in over 88 countries of the world is a testament to our global influence.
“Everybody has come to the realisation that our leader is the only person that can make a difference that is capable of shaking the foundations of Nigeria. The marginalised and the oppressed all miss him. We are still conducting our meetings across the world and pursuing vigorously the liberation of the Biafran people. “We will continue our protests until the Nigerian Army releases our leader, Nnamdi Kanu, whom they kidnapped or presumably killed during the Operation Python Dance II in his hometown on September 14, 2017,” the statement read.
