OPINION – Yesterday, yet another group emerged to rescue Nigeria from the abyss. It is called the “Revive Nigeria Group” and is led by Aisha Waziri Umar. It followed the launching of the “National Intervention Movement” led by Olisa Agbakoba on 29th November. Previously, the “Emerging Political Leaders Group” had launched a Summit also in Abuja on 22nd November led by Datti Baba Ahmed and Frank Nweke. I am told that many more are enroute. I lot of these groups have emerged from intense WhatsApp discussions on the national drift and the imperative of reinventing another type of leadership for the country. I guess the real issue is that as political preparations for the 2019 elections accelerate and two old politicians in their seventies appear to be the key candidates on the track, other generations are coming out to scream, following tutoring from the articulate Samson Otodo and his YIAGA youth movement that; “We Are Not Too Young

To Run”. For others, it’s not an age issue but one of ideas on how to transform Nigeria’s potential into development reality.

So yesterday, at the Revive Nigeria Launch, Frank Nweke spoke of the Nigerian paradox on how his friend Osita Chidoka was so impressive in the debates leading to the Anambra elections and how the people should have elected him for his excellent programme and commitment to serve. They chose otherwise and followed the money he complained. It was in that context that he recounted the story of a taxi driver complaining bitterly about how his people have been cursed with a governor who has no brain and is messing up the State. Nweke’s point was that we must learn to choose leaders who can exercise good governance and I guess make us happy about our country and ourselves.

Talking about governors, I read yesterday that we finally have clarity on the Imo State happiness controversy. According to the spokesman to Governor Rochas Okorocha, the real name of the new ministry some people are ridiculing is: the “Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment” and not as earlier announced as the “Ministry of Happiness and Couples Fulfilment”. The word “Couple”, we were told, was inadvertently written, instead of the word “Purpose.” Now that we are clear, I guess the next item on the Imo Government agenda, according to postings in the social media, is the establishment of SAS – the Special Anti-sadness Squad. Governor Okorocha has used his considerable brainpower to devise ways of providing democratic dividends to his people. He has been generous with sharing the exceptional skill sets of his family members with the masses through appointing them into public positions. He has invested huge amounts of public funds to build statutes of world leaders for the civic education of the masses and is now focused on transforming their sadness into happiness.

Nigeria: World Bank, FG Team Inspect Fadama Projects in Anambra

A TEAM of officials from the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development yesterday began the inspection of projects being executed in Anambra State under FADAMA 111 Additional Funding.

The team, which was led by Dr. B.C Agu of the World Bank, would visit the bank's funded rice and cassava projects in the six select local government areas of the state to assess the level of implementation and challenges facing the projects.

Speaking before the commencement of the inspection, Agu commended Anambra State for attaching great importance to agriculture, adding that because of the importance the state government attached to agriculture, it was the only state in the South East geo political zone that had received full grants for 2017 because the state met all the requirements, including being up to date in the payment of counterpart funding.

Agu said: "FADAMA 111Project is a partnership between the state governments, the farmers, the Federal Government and the World Bank. All these partners are aiming at one thing and that is to ensure increase in productivity, processing, as well as enhanced income for the small -scale and the medium- scale farmers. We are happy that Nigerians now love locally produced rice and our desire is to meet their expectations by increasing yield so as to reduce importation.

"During this mission tour, the team will inspect what had already been done on each component, including the business plans along the value chain and look at the programmes and how they have been implemented. We will also find solutions where the project failed."

Anambra State project coordinator of FADAMA, Mr. Patrick Egbue said that because of the support of the World Bank and the Federal Government, most rice farmers in the state increased their yield from about three metric tons last year to seven metric tons this year.

According to him, the assistance also enabled FADAMA to build a modern tractor hiring centre at Omor in Ayamelum local government area which the farmers manage themselves.

He said: "Before, one of the greatest challenges we faced was post harvest losses, but the farmers have been provided with storage facilities where buyers go and make their purchases. We have also introduced the farmers into mechanization and they have been enjoying the benefits. Where we were in 2016 was a far cry from where we are in 2017 and that is due to the support we get from the mission teams, including the World Bank and the federal government.

"The relationship between FADAMA and the farmers has also continued to improve and this has led to a major leap in the results we get. Though we have challenges, the successes outweigh the challenges.

"Two years ago, the farmers lived in huts, but due to improvements in their incomes, through the efforts of FADAMA, they have built modern houses and their lifestyles have improved."

The permanent secretary in the state ministry of agriculture, mechanization and processing, Mr. Leo Imoka said the state's counterpart fund for 2018 would be paid in the first quarter of next year, expressing delight at what FADAMA had used the farmers to achieve in the state.

Trump’s Jerusalem declaration has been widely and enthusiastically welcomed by his religious base – but not by Palestinians Reuters

I have got my latest Prayergram post. It is, quite aptly, on the topic of the day: the “Jerusalem Prayer”.
One passage reads “God bless Donald J Trump! He understands the real principles behind success. It is not being good at what you do or understanding theory and practice. It is being on the right side of the blessing of God. Whoever blesses Israel shall be blessed: whoever curses Israel shall be cursed.”
And, lest there be any misunderstanding: “If we bless Israel, regardless of its faults, lack of faith, both personally and organisationally, God bless us. While the world cries out, Donald J Trump who learned about the blessing on his mother’s knee, masters the simple, plodding art of doing the right thing regardless of consequences.”
Prayergram send their posts not just to the believers, but others, like journalists who have written negatively about the Christian right or Donald Trump. This is intended to show us the error of our ways and also, if possible, save our souls.

A recent survey found that 82 per cent of white evangelicals believe that God gave Israel to the Jewish people; a conviction shared by just 40 per cent of American Jews. Among these evangelicals there are those who believe in the prophecy of the “End of Days” foretelling Jewish control of all Jerusalem, a war of civilisations, and a choice of Jews to either embrace Christianity or die in the wrath of God.
The decision to move the embassy does not actually have much popular support across the US population as a whole. A Brookings Institution survey found that it has the backing of only 31 per cent. Polls have also repeatedly found that a large majority of American Jews, who tend on average to have a better standard of education than the rest of US population, and are liberal by tradition, oppose the move.
But Trump’s Jerusalem declaration has been widely and enthusiastically welcomed by his religious base. Johnnie Moore, who acts as a spokesperson for the Trump’s evangelical advisers stated: “The issue was second only to concerns about the judiciary among the evangelical supporters. President Trump has yet again demonstrated to his evangelical supporters that he will do what he says he will do.”

There is also the money in this. Trump’s campaign has received substantial funding from the Christian right and also hardline American Jewish promoters of Israel. They include Sheldon Adelson, the casino billionaire and Republican donor, who had given $20m (£14.9m) to a PAC (political action committee) which supported the Trump campaign and another $1.5m to the organisers of the Republican convention. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has told the Federal High Court in Abuja to visit the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, in Abia State.

Abaribe is one of the three sureties of the missing IPOB leader.
Abaribe told Justice Binta Nyako to visit the IPOB leader’s home allegedly invaded by soldiers in Abia State in September.
Justice Nyako on Tuesday adjourned Kanu’s trial until February 20, 2018.

The Senator, whose motion seeking the court’s order to compel the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce Kanu, is still pending in court, filed his fresh motion on December 4, 2017.
The motion, filed by Abaribe’s lawyer, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, SAN, ureged the court to visit and make physical inspection of Nnamdi Kanu’s residence, at Isiama, Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia Abia State.
He also alleged subsequent arrest and “taking away of Kanu by the Nigerian Army.”
As part of the grounds for the motion, Abaribe contended that Kanu was at his residence before and all through the period of September 11 to 14, 2017 at Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku , when the house was allegedly invaded by soldiers.

His lawyer stated, “Applicant’s agent has been severally prevented by agents of the Nigerian Army (6th respondent) as well as other security agents from accessing the residence of Kanu at (Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku ) as to show the court the characters of the invasion and occupation of Kanu and the eventual arrest and taking away of Kanu by the staff and agents of the Army.
“The applicant is desirous of the court seeing and examining Kanu’s residence which has been stated as an evidence before the court.
“The application will help the court and indeed the applicant in the determination of his application before this court.”

The leadership and family members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide once again condemn the latest episode in the incessant adjournment saga bedeviling all current IPOB cases, especially the high profile treasonable felony case presided over by Justice Binta Nyako at Abuja Federal High Court. This is the second long adjournment in as many months by Binta Nyako's court without any regard for the welfare of those locked up as a result of this case. It does appear that the prosecution in this case has run out of options and are only clutching at the straw of delay tactics as a way of inflicting punishment on innocent Biafrans whose only crime is to identify with those asking for a referendum for Biafra. Which cruel judicial system will sanction the detention of people, who are still regarded by the law as innocent until proven guilty, for upwards of 3 years without trial? The world must know that David Nwawuisi have now spent almost three years in jail for no reason other than the fact that he identified with the cause of Biafra independence championed by IPOB. Benjamin Madubugwu have been locked up in DSS dungeon and Kuje prison for over two years without formal commencement of his trial. Bright Chimezie Ishinwa is still bring held by DSS Director General Lawal Daura despite repeated pronouncements by a Federal High Court to release him unconditionally with compensatory payment of 5 Million Naira for illegal detention. Chidiebere Onwudiwe is also locked up for no reason. In total disregard for the rule of law and judicial pronouncements, Bright Chimezie Ishinwa is still languishing in underground DSS detention facility in Abuja. Since the DSS will not obey court order to release Bright Chimezie Ishinwa or attend court to hear the case involving Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, why are they still holding them in detention? All men and women of good conscience must ask serious questions regarding the operations of the legal system in Nigeria and how undemocratic it is for a government to throw people with different opinions in jail indefinite without proper trial. In instances where a tortuous legal process have led to a verdict the government is not happy with, they simply ignore the order and continue the illegal detention of a citizen. How is it expected that Bright Chimezie Ishinwa, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi will obtain justice when rulings are not obeyed and court sessions are adjourned recklessly without regard for the welfare of the victims of this lopsided judicial system. The onus is on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and other well meaning legal luminaries to prevail upon the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and DSS to obey court judgements and respect court processes. The idea that a high profile case can be adjourned at the instance of the prosecution, not the court, is an alarming development that speaks I'll of the impartiality of the court. There are other prosecutors in the Ministry of Justice that could have attended court yesterday to handle this matter but instead the case was adjourned without regard for the fundamental rights of those held in prison. We are advising Nigerian Government and her judicial Commission including the DSS that their delay tactics in handling IPOB cases cannot stop or deter Biafrans from legitimately demanding the sovereignty of the nation of Biafra.

It stands that the only reason why Binta Nyako's court and many others like it are reluctant to hear these cases but instead prefer adjournment after adjournment is because Nigeria has no evidence that can withstand legal scrutiny before any competent court of law. The best thing for Nigeria to do is to withdraw all cases against IPOB and release all Biafrans in detention because no judge in his right mind will ever convict members of a peaceful organisation without credible evidence.

Biafra: Trump Moves To Recognize Jerusalem As Israel’s Capital Amid Outcry From Iran”

 
Like a Forex trend, every violent protest in Nigeria can be predict is no news that the able and capable President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump has done that which his predecessors failed to do for decades. 

President Trump on Wednesday recognised Jerusalem as Israeli Capital. “Therefore, I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.”

Before now different POTUS had promised to move US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in recognition of the city as Israeli Capital but weren't able to do so due to one thing or the other. Fortunately for the Israeli government, the current POTUS has sealed the decade's promises.

This development is a good news to Jews, Christians and Judeo-Christian all over the world. 

Biafrans are mostly Judeo-Christian and Jewish in religion. Their happiness may turn to sorrow if nothing is done to prevent an imminent violent protest that will emanate from Northern Nigeria. 

It has been an obnoxious culture for Northern Muslims to attack Biafrans whenever there's a disagreement between other Muslim countries and other religion. Biafrans have suffered foreign induced violence on different occasions.

In February 2006, Northern Muslims attacked Biafrans due to a caricature cartoon of Mohammed displayed in faraway Denmark. It was a bloody protest that consumed more than 38 innocent lives of Biafran people.

Biafrans are the potential target for any religious crisis, it didn't start today and may not end now. It's one of the reasons the call for Biafra restoration is gaining ground every day.

This is why every Jewish family and fellow Christians should watch Nigeria very close. The crisis in the Middle East will metamorphose to an uprising in Nigeria if adequate security measures aren't put in place. 

In the other hand, entrusting Buhari's government to protect Biafrans is like giving your enemy keys to your life. Buhari is a fundamentalist and must align with his fellow radical Muslims. A man who has sympathy for Bokoharam - the world's deadliest terror group, can do anything to solidify his Islamic fundamentalism. 

The chunk of Biafrans still living in Northern Nigeria should be on alert, the doomsday isn't very far. Radical Muslims are not happy with Trump's decision and they'll react to it if not in Israeli territory or in Northern Nigeria. 

Following the social media comments about the development, Nigerian Muslims are pained. Their anger has no bound. Their taste for the blood of Biafrans is building up and in no distance time, they'll unleash terror on Christians.

US and UK need to act fast, UN is already compromised. The Jihadists have penetrated UN and they can't protect Christians in Nigeria.
