BIAFRA NEWS : IPOB blasts S-East govs for weekly closure of markets, banks on Mondays

Buhari: Nigeria 'Will Not Tolerate' Biafra Agitation

NNEWI—THE Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday, accused South East governors of benefiting from continued closure  of markets and banks in the southeast on the pretext of observing fake sit-at-home allegedly ordered and being implemented by miscreants, who want to tarnish IPOBs name and paint a bad picture of  its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB alleged that South East Governors and some Igbo politicians who are working against IPOB, can do anything against the Igbo to get political favour and patronage from the powers that be in Abuja, and therefore, the Igbo can suffer as long as they are doing the biddings of the powers at Aso Rock.

The group spoke as the family and lawyers to the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, have raised fresh concerns over his safety, claiming that they have twice been denied access to him.

“We therefore commend our people for coming out on Mondays, to go about their businesses. We want the banks and other businesses to start coming out because the Monday sit-at-home is not sanctioned by IPOB.

“IPOB authorities have suspended it after the first week of its observance in August last year. Anybody enforcing it is an enemy of our people. We wonder why South East governors refused to order for the opening of markets and banks in the region. They know what to do to any bank that disobeys their directive to commence operations, but they will not do the needful because they feel they can bring down IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu with blackmail- oriented sit-at-home.”

Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, told Vanguard that he was at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Services, DSS, where the IPOB Leader is currently detained but was not allowed to see him.

Prince  Kanu said he was also at the DSS headquarters on Thursday last week to see his brother as directed by the Court but was denied access to him and  expressed  worry over the reason behind the action of DSS.

He said he was no longer convinced that his brother was in good shape, hence, the secret police do not want to grant the family access to him.

“I have been denied access to see Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on two seperate occasions at the Department of State Services in Abuja.

“It goes to show that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s life is in grave danger. It remains the order of the court that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu  must be seen twice weekly , Mondays and Thursdays.

“Why can’t I see him ? Has he been killed or poisoned ? There must be proof of life. We demand a proof of life”, he later posted on his Facebook page.

Similarly, IPOB’s lead Counsel, Ifeanyi  Ejiofor  said  the  action of the DSS was a clear violation of the court’s positive orders.

To tackle the issue, the IPOB lawyer, said  it has filled contempt forms to the Chief Registrar of the Federal High court in Abuja  against the DSS and that he was waiting for the Chief Registrar to endorse the relevant forms.

Ejiofor was not happy that it was not the first time the DSS   has refused the IPOB’s legal team from seeing their client.

According to Ejiofor, “Consistent with our routine, we were at the DSS Headquarters today to observe the court-ordered visit to our dear Client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. But for the second time after the last court sitting, we were bluntly denied access to our Client by the personnel of the DSS.

“This development is appalling and condemnable because there was no plausible reason(s) proffered for this violent affront to a Court Order.

“Recall that the Order made by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Binta Nyako guiding our routine visits to our Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is unequivocal that these visits should be conducted on Mondays and Thursdays between the hours of 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

“During our visit to Onyendu last week Thursday, being the 17th day of February 2022, in observance of this Court sanctioned visit, the personnel of the DSS turned us back, insisting that the officials assigned to receive us were not available. The same flimsy reason was given today, 21st February 2022, for denying us access to Onyendu in deliberate and flagrant disobedience to Court Orders.

“With the foregoing, if the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court Abuja, fails and/or refuses to endorse the relevant contempt forms filed against the Director-General of the DSS for the gross disobedience to positive Orders of Court, as he has done in the past, then, it will become obvious to the world that the Registrar of the Federal High Court Abuja is actively protecting the contemnors.”

Also commenting, Kanu’s Special Counsel, Mr. Aloy Ejimakor, who took to his Twitter handle, demanded explanations for the action of the DSS which he said was suspicious.

“Last Thursday, we were not allowed visitation with Onyendu because, according to DSS, the “special special squad” in charge of visitations went on “outside assignment.

“They asked us to come on Monday (today).

Today, we are at DSS. They are telling us the same thing. We disagree!”

During Kanu’s last court appearance on Wednesday, February 16, his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, had informed the presiding judge, Justice Binta Nyako that DSS had also not allowed Kanu change of clothes despite to his earlier order.

But DSS claimed that the clothes brought to him by the family had an insignia that should not be tolerated.

He said he was no longer convinced that his brother was in good shape, hence, the secret police do not want to grant the family access to him.

BIAFRA NEWS : 983 Biafra detainees languishing in prisons – Ohanaeze

 Ohanaeze logo

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has said since 2016, it gathered that over 900 Igbo youths have been languishing in prisons across the country because of their connection with the Biafra agitation.

The group advised Igbo elite and politicians to include them in the peace move they were trying to broker on behalf of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement signed by the group’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, warned against ‘segregation’ in what is described as ‘classified negotiations between a few Igbo politicians, elder statesmen and the Federal Government for the release of the IPOB leader and other top Biafra agitators.

Part of the statement read, “We have it in good authority that not more than 983 Biafran detainees are incarcerated in various correctional facilities across the seven Igbo-speaking states between 2016 and 2021.”

BIAFRA NEWS : Biafra prisoners in secret deal to release Nnamdi Kanu – Ohanaeze to Buhari govt

Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has alleged that an ongoing secret negotiation between Igbo politicians, leaders and the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu should also include other Igbo youths detained in various prisons across the South South and South East.

Ohanaeze, in a statement signed by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, its Secretary General, warned against segregation in what it described as classified negotiations between a few Igbo politicians, elder statesmen and the Federal Government for the release of the IPOB leader and other top Biafra agitators.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation said it has it in good authority that not more than 983 Biafran detainees are incarcerated in various correctional facilities across the seven Igbo speaking states.

According to Ohanaeze, over 182 Igbo prisoners of conscience, mainly youths and women, are languishing in Port Harcourt Maximum Corrections Center on awaiting trial over related cases of Biafra agitation between 2016 and 2021.

The group said that whatever Kanu stands to benefit must be extended to others whose crimes were only wearing of Biafra costumes and identity cards, “no matter what, this is the first time we are speaking for their behalf, and they deserve pardon like Nnamdi Kanu.”

“The Federal Government should ensure that the Igbo secret negotiation team who are ready to help FG have a secret peace deal with Nnamdi Kanu must include these Biafran detainees in any decision to be reached,” the group said.

“FG should use the government’s instruments to secure the release of all the Biafran detainees in various Corrections facilities at Port Harcourt, Asaba, Owerri, Awka, Enugu, umuahia, Onitsha, Abakiliki and Aba for peace to restored.”

“The Federal Government should demand the comprehensive lists of all Biafran detainees and join it in the ongoing peace deal with Nnamdi Kanu’s team,” the statement added.

BIAFRA NEWS : “Consider the cause of Biafra agitation and Render solution to it”

 Narendra Modi

 HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE

The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Damondardas has told The United Nations General Assemblies to look into the problem affecting the residents of the old eastern region of Nigeria widely known as BIAFRA which is propelling them to push for the separate independent state away from Nigeria.

He maintained that Nigeria is structured in based on the colonial interest stating that Nigeria as Nation does not have the legitimate support of it’s citizens.

He further points out the root cause of Nigeria problems as the inability of the past Nigerian Nationalists to restructure and reestablish Nigeria as a sovereign state with the popular legitimacy of it’s citizens on the basis of REFERENDUM which fosters the National cohesive spirit and patriotism.

“The issue of BIAFRA agitation has to be properly addressed; self determination has always been a civil right which is Guaranteed under the international laws.

When a region seek to break away from a given country, the first thing to do is to address the problems driving such proposition.

If the issue is something that can’t be addressed, partition has to be offered for them to conduct a REFERENDUM a decide their fate.

Nigeria’s problems emanated from their earlier political leaders who failed to reestablish themselves after gaining independence in 1960.”
He ended saying that a country that is structured in political, social and economic inequality can never stand “Patriotism is what drives nations to unity, Peaceful coexistence and equity.”

I Hope Nnamdi Kanu Doesn’t Go Through MKO Abiola’s Ordeal – Tundun Abiola

I Hope Nnamdi Kanu Doesn't Go Through MKO Abiola's Ordeal - Tundun Abiola

A daughter of the acclaimed winner of the 1993 Presidential election, MKO Abiola, Tundun Abiola, on Monday stated that she hopes the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, would not go through what her father went through.

The late politician and business mogul died in the custody having been detained for four years under the leadership of former military dictator, Sani Abacha.

Tundun, the United Kingdom-trained lawyer further stated that the next action of the federal government could see him denied access to his family members, lawyer, doctor and will be all there by himself.

She stated this during an interview with AriseTv on Monday while answering questions on how Kanu had been subjected to solitary confinement as revealed by his lawyers last week.

Recall that the counsels to the IPOB leader, Aloy Ejimakor and Ifeanyi Ejiofor have accused the DSS of subjecting Kanu to all manners of torture.

Tundun in her statement said, “I have first-hand experience of this, and all I can say like this for Nnamdi Kanu is I hope he doesn’t go through this for four years as my father did. Four long years, that was his (Abiola) reality. And the next thing is that this report came out and would make the federal government look bad.

“The next thing is that they could stop people from seeing him at all. He would just be there all by himself, with no access even to a doctor, to a lawyer, certainly, no family member there as he goes through all this.

“I saw Nnamdi Kanu during his court appearance, as he was trying to put a brave face on things. You know men and their pride; he doesn’t want to show it. He doesn’t want to weaken people who really believe in him and support him. He was trying to look normal but what he’s going through is the exact opposite of normal.

“That’s why I said on a few occasions that people should be very careful with their utterances, with their actions, so they will not get this man killed. It has happened before, it must never happen again.

“And it is just very sad, here we are in 2021 after my dad died for democracy, we’re still having this conversation in 2021 of somebody being treated appallingly like a kind of a serious killer. Under what circumstances should somebody be treated like this? I’m hoping that the DSS would come out with a statement and completely deny these accusations and prove that the accusations are completely false.

“And that he has been allowed a change of cloth, I mean really. Putting someone in solitary confinement is a kind of torture, putting him in a tiny cell is a form of torture. I mean this is sickening.”

Produce Nnamdi Kanu in court for fair trial if you have no other agenda – HURIWA to FG

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has called on the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami,

to produce the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Court for trial.

The group said Abubakar Malami should do that urgently if he has no subterranean motive to instigate the economic collapse of South East of Nigeria should the self-determination group implement her threat to call for a full month of sit-at-home order.

reports that Kanu, who is currently detained at the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS has been scheduled to resume his trial on October 21.

The trial, which was previously billed to commence shortly after he was rearrested from an undisclosed country, was adjourned by the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja following the inability of the DSS to produce the secessionist in court.

According to Nigerian Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami, Kanu is charged with “terrorism, treason, running an illegal company, publishing defamatory material and illegal possession of firearms”.

In a statement by its National Coordinator Comrade, Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA warned that Kanu must be produced alive in Court for trial by the Federal Attorney General “unless the government has a sinister motive to precipitate uprising in the South East of Nigeria for the satanic purposes of destroying the economy of the South East of Nigeria.”

The rights group, therefore, advocated fair trial for all the “prisoners of conscience” in the country such as Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

HURIWA said, “Fair trial is observed by a trial judge without being partial and Justice means the ethical, philosophical idea that people are to be treated impartially, fairly properly and reasonably by the law and arbiters of the law.

“We are also pleading with the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to send a very clear message to his followers not to carry on with the threat to call for a One Month sit-at-home order because it is very likely that the Federal Government with a preponderance of officials from the Moslem North who have manifested open distrust and hatred for Igboland and Igbo people may instigate the Department of State Services headed by the same Muslim North not to produce the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu before the Federal High Court Abuja on the next adjourned date so as to precipitate the destruction of the economic life of the South East of Nigeria.”

According to the rights group, fair hearing means “giving equal opportunity to the parties to be heard in the litigation before a court or tribunal, and ad-hoc tribunal inclusive.

“Where parties are given the opportunity to be heard and the charge or complaint against the party standing trial or being investigated made available to them, they cannot complain of a breach of fair hearing principles.

“The concept of fear hearing in accordance with section 36 (1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended states as follows

“Section 36. (1) In the determination of his civil rights and obligations, including any question or determination by or against any government or authority, a person shall be entitled to a fair hearing within a reasonable time by a court or other tribunal established by law and constituted in such manner as to secure its independence and impartiality.

“Fair Hearing within the meeting of section 36 (1) of the 1999 constitution a trial conducted according to all legal rules formulated to ensure that justice is done to the parties. It is very important to note that this provision also acquire apparently the observance and consideration of twin pillars of the rules of natural justice namely, “audi alteram partem” “hear the other party” and “nemo judex in causa sua” “no one is a judge in his own case”.

“A fair trial must involve a fair trial, and a fair trial of a case must consists of the whole hearing. A true test of a fair hearing is the impression of a reasonable person who was present at the trial whether, from his observation, justice has been done in this case. A fair trial are the ways to prevent miscarriage of justice and are essential part of a just society.

“In conclusion the principles of fair hearing in the judicial proceeding and quasi-judicial proceedings cannot be abandoned or waived. Parties are expected to be given the equal access to court proceedings or Disciplinary committee from its commencement up to the delivery of the final judgment.”

Nnamdi Kanu didn’t sign any document for freedom – Lawyer

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, said the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader did not sign any document to regain his freedom.

The lawyer also declared as untrue, the speculation that Kanu was flown to China and Israel.

In a statement on Thursday, Ejiofor stressed that Kanu is strong and ready to appear at the Federal High Court in Abuja on October 21.

He said no plausible excuse will be available for the Department of State Services (DSS) not to produce Nnamdi Kanu in court.

Ejiofor conveyed Kanu’s appreciation to his supporters for unwavering solidarity and implored them to intensify their prayers and remain vigilant.

“Kanu urges millions of his followers and supporters to continue to conduct themselves and carry on within the ambit of the laws.

“We are all in agreement that this situation will come to pass soon. Hence, your doggedness, perseverance and prayers shall greatly count in times like this”, the statement added.

I care about Nnamdi Kanu, he must not be tried like convict – Gov Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has described Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as his citizen, whom he cares about.

To this end, Ikpeazu said Kanu must not be treated as a convict.

He, however, advocated that the right procedure be followed in trying Kanu and ensuring justice in his matter.

“I regard Nnamdi Kanu as my citizen but not as leader of IPOB because I am the governor. I am prepared to engage to resolve the issue. I care about his welfare and I care that he should be tried in a just and fair way.

“I am happy that they want to bring justice to bear by looking at the allegations against him and trying him fair and square but I would not want him to be treated as if he was a convict when he has not been convicted.

“Not until otherwise, he is still my citizen and as his father, it behoves on us to care for him after all the prodigal son had a father,” he told The Sun.

Kanu is locked up by the Department of State Services, DSS, following his rearrest in Kenya.

The IPOB leader is expected to appear before Justice Binta Nyako- led Abuja Federal High Court on October 21 to continue his trial.

Justice Nyako had first granted him bail in 2017 but he jumped it and fled abroad.

However, Kanu explained that he fled Nigeria because his life was in danger.

Seven die, others hospitalised as Taraba confirms cholera outbreak

Dr. Innocent Vakkai, the Commission of Health, Taraba State, has admitted that the state has recorded a cholera outbreak.

The incident, which occurred in Tella town, Gassol Local Government Council, was said to have led to the death of seven persons, leaving several others hospitalized.

Confirming the incident today in Jalingo, a team of medical officers, according to him, have been drafted to the community to investigate the reported cases.

Vakkai said the state government has put in place mechanisms to halt the disease from spilling over to other parts of the state.

had earlier reported the indiscriminate dumping of garbage in the streets, a situation which our correspondent observed could lead to outbreak of cholera and other communicable diseases.

The state government in collaboration with the military, he said, is working round the clock to arrest the situation.

The council chairman, Musa Chul, who also confirmed the outbreak, said no fewer than 25 persons are presently receiving medications in health facilities spread across the town as a result of the suspected disease.

Chul said the deceased were said to have been stooling and vomiting.

He vowed that the council would not relent in its efforts to stamp out the disease from the area, urging residents to adhere to hygiene protocols.

Some residents of the community, who also spoke to  expressed their readiness to abide strictly to the measures that would prevent them from coming in contact with the disease.

“Ashewo pastor” – Woman confronts preacher in Lagos

Two persons, including an unidentified pastor, clashed in Lagos as the latter carried out an evangelism.

The incident occurred at a location in Ikeja, the state capital.

In a viral video, a woman confronted the preacher dressed in a suit. He held a microphone and beside him was a speaker.

As she challenged him for a reason not ascertained, the man sought to cast out evil spirits from her.

“I bind you in the name of Jesus”, he uttered repeatedly. “Na by force?”, the female challenger retorted.

The duo repeatedly shouted “Get away from here” at each other.

Not done, the woman called the clergyman an “Idiot”, and added: “Ashewo (prostitute) preacher. Heaven judge you.”

She then went on her kneels and continued tantrums: “Angel of God come down and destroy you.”

As expected, the face-off attracted a number of passersby. Some looked confused, some amused.

Planning out on a week together feels better to keep away from all the stress at work. This will also help you bring back the passion and excitement in your relationship. Girls keep some relationship goals, and traveling together is probably one of them. So if you will help her achieve her relationship goals, that would be satisfying.

28. Show Her That You’re Interested In Her Interests.

You probably don’t care about the TV show she’s obsessed with. You don’t have to actively participate in all her interests. However, you have to show her that you acknowledge them. Show her some enthusiasm when she talks about them.

29. Value Her Point Of View.

Listen to her and let her say whatever decision she has in mind. Respect her point of view as you would expect her to respect yours.

30. Be True To Your Words; Be True To Your Actions.

Never ever lie to her, whether it’s through your words or through your actions. Do not be a liar and a great pretender. Finally, always make her happy because it’s what your loving and cheerful heart tells you so, not just because your girlfriend wants it… or not just because, in this article, I have told you so.

There you have it! I hope this will help all the guys out there to keep their girlfriend happy. Always remember that every girl deserves a man who will fill their heart, mind, and life with joy and gladness.

Small Alabama community mourns loss of 9 children in car crash

An Alabama community was plunged into deep grief after a car accident Saturday killed 10 people — nine of them children, including a 9-month-old.

Eight of the children, ages 3 to 17, were traveling in a vehicle owned by a residential home for youths when they were killed in Butler County, Alabama, about an hour southwest of Montgomery. The small bus operated by the Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches, whose mission is "to provide Christian, family-style residential homes for Alabama's needy, neglected, or abused, school-age children,” was in a pileup of more than a dozen cars on Interstate 65. Officials suspect the crash was triggered by wet weather from the remnants of Tropical Storm Claudette.Four of the children who perished from the crash were girls who lived at the ranch, and the other four children who died were related to someone who worked at the ranch, according to AL.com.The two other victims, Cody Fox, a 29-year-old father, and his 9-month-old, Ariana, were killed in a separate vehicle.“I’ll tell you what I do know, those children are in a much better place, they’re with God, cause they all love God,” Michael Smith, the CEO of the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, told the NBC affiliate WSFA. Smith, who spent time with the girls who attended his organization's Tallapoosa County ranch, said he “felt like the blessed one” being able to know them.  The National Transportation Safety Board and the Alabama Highway Patrol sent 10 investigators to the scene Sunday to look into “vehicle technologies such as forward collision warning systems, CMV fuel tank integrity, motor carrier operations and occupant survivability,” according to the NTSB’s Twitter account.  Over the weekend, mourners gathered to grieve and pray together at Tallapoosa County's Reeltown High School, where girls who died Saturday went to school. Their names have not been released.  One of the girls who stays at the ranch and remained unnamed because she is in state custody, spoke at the high school, remembering her lost “sisters.”

“When people hear about the ranch, they usually assume that the girls have done something wrong or bad to get there. But that’s not the case,’' she said, according to AL.com. “These girls have been through so much, and they were such strong, wonderful, kind family members and it was my privilege and my honor to be their big sister.” “I’ve lost a lot of family throughout my entire life, and I’ve been prepared for a lot of situations, but nothing could have prepared me for this,’' the teen whose speech offered a glimpse into the lives of the girls said.  The girls at the ranch often come from backgrounds of neglect or abuse and find a safe haven through the program, the teen said. There, they learn about faith and find community in one another.  Located in Camp Hill, Alabama, the Tallapoosa County Sheriffs Youth Ranch houses high schoolers in crisis. The ranch there has three homes for girls, three staff houses, an office, a chapel, gym and pool, according to the website. Opened by the Alabama Sheriffs' Association in 1973, it was meant to provide children with stability as they navigate high school. "The Ranches are homes for these children, not reform schools or correctional institutions," according to its website.  The group also takes the girls on trips and vacations, one of which they were returning from when the crash occurred.  Reeltown High Principal Cliff Maddox struggled to find words at the ceremony, AL.com reported.  “Everybody’s still in shock. I’m in a fog. I can’t hardly talk," he said.  Tallapoosa County Schools Superintendent Raymond C. Porter said in a statement that his district will try to provide support to the grieving students and their parents.  “At Reeltown School, we have counselors available for any student who may need or want help or any type of assistance surrounding this loss. We encourage you, as parents, to also feel free to use our resources,” he wrote in a letter to parents Sunday.
