BIAFRA NEWS : UN tells Nigeria to unconditionally release, compensate Nnamdi Kanu

  The United Nations, UN Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, has indicted both Nigeria and Kenya Governments for the arrest and extraordinary rendition, torture and continued detention of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, without due process. UN therefore, asked Nigerian Government to, “immediate release Kanu unconditionally” and pay him adequate compensations for the arbitrary violation of his fundamental human rights. It also recommended that Government officials responsible for the torture meted to the IPOB Leader be investigated and punished. The UN body further directed Nigeria to report back within six months of the transmission of its opinions on Kanu’s matter, steps taken to comply with all the recommendations thereof. BIAFRA NEWS : 2023 , Peter Obi can’t compromise Biafra agitation, we don’t know him – IPOB fires back at Gumi

  The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday lashed out at controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi over his comment that the  emergence of Peter Obi as the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate has slowed down Biafra agitation in the Southeast. However, IPOB believes that Obi’s involvement in Nigerian politics can’t compromise the agitation for Biafra. DAILY POST reported that Gumi said the emergence of Obi as LP presidential candidate had slowed down the agitation for Biafra. The cleric had said the Obi’s movement had reduced IPOB’s activities, thereby bringing relative peace to the Southeast. Condemning Gumi’s remark, IPOB reiterated that it does not recognize Obi as a Biafran because he opted to engage in Nigerian politics. BIAFRA NEWS : Suspend South-East visit – IPOB tells British envoy

  The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has advised the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, to suspend her planned visit to the South-Eastern part of the country. IPOB made the call after it raised the alarm over an alleged plot to assassinate Laing during her visit to the South-East. According to the proscribed group, which claimed it got the information through its intelligence arm, the M-Branch, the idea is to assassinate the envoy in the South-East and blame it on its members. This was revealed in a statement by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, on Thursday. BIAFRA NEWS : Osun guber, Wike ‘missing’ as Atiku, Okowa, PDP govs storm Osogbo for Adeleke

  State governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have arrived in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election. The governors stormed the state for the PDP’s mega rally in favour of the party’s candidate in the election, Ademola Adeleke. Present in the state are Governors Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who is also the Vice presidential candidate of the party. Also present is the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki. However, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is noticeably absent. Wike is aggrieved with PDP’s leadership over the choice of Okowa as Atiku’s running mate. The Rivers governor, who came second during the party’s presidential primary, was believed to have been eyeing the Vice Presidential slot which went to Okowa.

  The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, expressed willingness to reconcile with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. Atiku said he is open to a reconciliation with Wike in the interest of the party. Addressing journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, Atiku insisted that there are no factions in the PDP. The PDP presidential candidate insisted that the PDP was united. “It is a social media drama. There is nothing like a Wike camp or Atiku camp. There is one PDP family.” On plans to meet Wike for a possible reconciliation, and Atiku said: “Why not? I am open to that.” “Some people get angry when things don’t go their way and so on and so forth. We will overcome that. I have every belief that we are going to do that,” he added. BIAFRA NEWS : 2023, We must confront oppressors, fight for our freedom – Charly Boy

  Maverick entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has asked Nigerians to fight for freedom and confront oppressors ahead of the 2023 election. Charly Boy said this via his Twitter page while querying the capability of current Nigerian leaders in office. The activist asked Nigerians to get their PVC’s in order to cause a change, stressing that ‘Enough is Enough’. Charly Boy asked whether many Nigerians would willingly employ the current political office holders to run their business.   President Muhammadu Buhari has told his immediate family, particularly, his children that he is not leaving anything for them to inherit. Buhari, who is expected to bow out of office as President in May 2023, insisted that the only legacy he hopes to bequeath to them is proper education. The President, who was speaking on the importance of effective education, implored parents to inculcate right values in children, including deep fear of God, respect for constituted authorities and living a purposeful life through continuous education. His comment comes amidst the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other sister unions.   Veteran actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has said that Nigerians who are yet to get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) are part of the problem in the country. The movie star said this via a video shared on his Instagram page. Kanayo noted that Nigerians have the power to save the country by going to vote, rather than going to church or mosque to pray.   Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the running mate of Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has come under serious attack in Zamfara State over his comment that he won’t like to be called a Muslim or northerner. According to one Yusuf Abubakar, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is not proud of his religion and tribe, saying that for him to warn that he won’t accept to be referred to as a Muslim or northerner means he is ungrateful to the Almighty. “If he has publicly said that he does not support tribalism, then nobody would comment on that because tribalism can destroy the entire country,” he added.   The spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign. Baba-Ahmed said Buhari should just resign now because things would get tougher. The former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Secretary gave the advice in reaction to the President’s revelation that he is eager to leave power. BIAFRA NEWS : Jailbreak, Terrorists attacked Kuje prison to eliminate our members – IPOB alleges

  The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, reacted to the invasion of the correctional facility in the Kuje area of Abuja by terrorists. IPOB alleged that the attack was a plot by terrorists to eliminate members of the group incarcerated in the facility. Gunmen believed to be Boko Haram members had invaded the Kuje prison on Tuesday with explosives. The terrorists had released all their members incarcerated in the facility. Reacting to the attack, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, warned that nothing must happen to members of the group incarcerated at the facility. Powerful warned that IPOB would not take it easy with the Nigerian Government if anything happens to members of the group incarcerated in the Kuje facility.
