  President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed his discussion with the US president, Donald Trump, over the killing of Christians in the country. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, at the First Year Ministerial Performance Review Retreat of his second term, Buhari noted he is the only African amongst the least developed countries that Trump invited in the White House.   Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has reacted to speculations that  President Muhammadu Buhari and former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu had a pact on the 2023 presidency.   The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday said Rotimi Amaechi,  Minister of Transportation has confessed to looting in President Muhammadu Buhari-led government. Independent National Electoral Commission registration centres in Rivers State: Slow internet connectivity affected voter registration in Rivers – YIAGA

  A Civil Society Organization, YIAGA Africa have identified network connectivity as one of the factors that initially affected the ongoing voter  registration exercise in Rivers State. The CSO members are serving as observers for the exercise in the twenty-three Independent National Electoral Commission registration centres in Rivers State. Victor Uwaifo is dead

  Music legend, Sir Victor Uwaifo has passed away. He was 80 years old. In his lifetime, Uwaifo was a prolific songwriter, sculptor, music and instrument inventor. Popularly known as ‘Guitar boy’, the legendary Nigerian died after a brief illness. Uwaifo was honoured with the National Merit Honours of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). He was the country’s first Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism and winner of the first gold disc in Africa (Joromi), released in 1965. Uwaifo obtained a B.A. Honors (first class valedictorian), Masters degree and Ph.D in Architectural Sculpture, University of Benin (UNIBEN). The deceased lectured at the UNIBEN’s Department of Fine and Applied Art.

COVID-19 : Rivers overtakes Lagos as NCDC reports over 800 cases, more deaths

  The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, has recorded 835 fresh cases of COVID-19 in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Rivers State recorded the highest new cases with 263 infections followed by Lagos which reported 217. The health agency made this known on Friday morning in an update posted on its verified Facebook page. The country also recorded about 10 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total fatality to 2,298. So far, Nigeria has recorded 189,715 cases of the disease with about 169,626 patients already recovered.    The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has rubbished the sit-at-home order recently declared by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB,  in solidarity with its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS. recalls that the secessionist group had earlier in the month ordered that sit-at-home would be observed every Monday in all parts of Southeast pending the freedom of Kanu. BIAFRA : Catholic bishops take position on agitation for Nigeria’s break-up, insecurity

  The Catholic Bishops of Nigeria, CBCN, has taken a stand on the rising insecurity, electronic transmission of results and call for Nigeria’s break-up. COVID-19 : Nigeria records seven deaths, over 600 fresh cases in 18 states, FCT

  The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC has announced 637 cases of COVID-19 in 18 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. NCDC, while giving update on its verified Facebook page on Thursday morning, said about seven patients have died due to complications from the dreaded virus. So far, Nigeria has recorded 188,880 cases of the disease since its outbreak in 2020. COVID-19 : Zamfara receives 65,000 doses of Moderna vaccine

  The Zamfara State Government has expressed readiness to partner international donor agencies to combat COVID-19 and other diseases affecting residents of the state. This was disclosed by the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, who doubles as the state chairman of the COVID-19 taskforce, when he flagged off the second phase of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines donated by the United States of America Centre for Disease Control at the state medical store in Gusau, the state capital.
