Biafra in future will teach Nigeria how to run a democracy, says Kanu

Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri The leader of Igbo separatist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has boasted that in the event that Biafra attains nationhood ‘Nigerians will troop to Biafraland to learn how to run a democratic government.’ The separatist leader, who made the remark through a press statement released by IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful in Owerri, was reacting to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) questioning why the Secretary to the State Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, should be issuing a press statement on behalf of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. According to Kanu, ‘it is an abomination in a democracy for a mere political appointee to issue a directive to citizens who cannot hold him accountable through the ballot box. This is Government 101. ‘This is how it will be in the future, Nigerians will troop to Biafraland to learn how to run a democratic government and we Biafrans would be glad to teach them for free because they are fellow Africans.’...

Why we disobey lockdown, social distancing orders – Biafra group [VIDEO]

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has said it is disobeying the lockdown orders because the government has not been able to stop the rampaging Fulani herdsmen from attacking the people. The group wonders why the government would declare lockdown but allow Fulani herdsmen go about causing mayhem. It noted that the government, especially in Akwa Ibom, could not protect the people from the rampaging Fulani herdsmen while it pretends to be protecting them from Coronavirus. BNYL also shared a video which shows its members disregarding the social distancing order. Recall that on Thursday last week the BNYL flouted lockdown order and hoisted the Biafra flags in Cross River border town of Ikom. A video released online by the group showed the Deputy National Leader, Ebuta Takon Akor accusing the government of politicizing COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria and allowing continuous attacks on innocent citizens by Fulani herdsmen. Akor condemned the COVID-19 lockdown, adding that “instead of providing ...

Nnamdi Kanu is a coward –Uwazuruike

Okey Sampson , Umuahia The  fratricidal war of words between leaders of the two foremost Biafra agitation groups, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, founder of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), which was rekindled earlier in the week, has gotten messier. Kanu had berated Uwazuruike for allegedly taking the issue of Biafra to the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) in The Hague, Netherlands; a move he said was belittling as several Igbo groups had taken Biafra’s matter to United Nations which was a far more recognized body. The IPOB leader’s statement drew the anger of Uwazuruike who through the national director of information of MASSOB, Sunny Okoroafor took a swipe at Kanu, describing him as a man not qualified to speak about the Biafran struggle or attack Uwazuruike. “Where was Nnamdi Kanu when Chief Ralph Uwazuruike started the struggle for Biafra? One thing is clear; Uw...

Nigeria needs a president with Ojukwu’s passion for Biafra –Olisa Agbakoba

Human   rights lawyer, Chief Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, has kicked against the zoning of the presidency. According to him, Nigeria needs a president who is passionate about the country, and has the type of passion Ojukwu had for Biafra.   In an interview with  VINCENT KALU , the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, stressed the need for the devolution of powers if the country is to make progress. How can Nigeria manage the post COVID-19 challenges or crises against the dwindling oil price? It is very simple; it is a matter of Nigeria having an economic policy that would work for it and that policy will be driven by the sort of resources that we have. We have two main resources – natural and human. Our natural resources are hydrocarbons – oil and gas; and as you rightly said, it is dwindling. In fact, Nigeria’s projected revenue for 2020 is down to about 70 per cent; if we had budgeted N100, we are now left with N30. So, we need extreme ingenious ways of thinking ab...

Don’t be afraid of prison, return home and fight – MASSOB fires at Nnamdi Kanu

The Ralph Uwazuruike-led Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has described the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu as a coward, challenging him to come back to Nigeria. The war of words between the leaders of the two frontline secessionist groups, Kanu and Uwazuruike, was rekindled earlier in the week. It started when the IPOB leader blasted his MASSOB counterpart for allegedly taking the issue of Biafra to the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) in The Hague, Netherlands. Kanu had described the move as belittling being that several Igbo groups had already taken Biafra’s matter to United Nations, UN, which was a far more recognized body. Responding to this in a statement, the National Director of Information of MASSOB, Sunny Okoroafor, on Friday, blasted Kanu, saying that the IPOB leader was not qualified to speak about the Biafran struggle. “Where was Nnamdi Kanu when Chief Ralph Uwazuruike started the str...
