EU, UK, U.S. speak on Osun governorship election

FREE DOMAIN AND HOSTING   As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares for the rerun election that would conclude the Osun state governorship election on Thursday, key foreign missions in Nigeria have indicated interest in the process. The missions of European Union, United Kingdom and the United States commended the polls which held on Saturday, while calling for greater peace and orderly conduct during the rerun. The election, which held on Saturday, was declared inconclusive following inability to conduct voting in seven polling units across three local governments. Candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Boyega Oyetola and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Yekeen Adeleke were in a tight race at the polls. as A presidential hopeful of one of the newly registered parties, African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has vowed to fire every General in the Nigerian Army presently fighting against terrorism in the country.  He said he will not tolerate the military chiefs the way they have been tolerated by President Muhammadu Buhari when they fail to do their jobs. Sowore who stated this in Lagos on Monday during the Ripples Nigeria interview series for Presidential aspirants also spoke on Nigeria’s unity, Buhari’s integrity, and the outcome of last Saturday’s governorship elections in Osun State among other things. IPOB : What we’ll do to Orji Kalu – IPOB

The IPOB said it was taking the action over Kalu’s comment on the whereabouts of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Thursday revealed its plan to drag the former Governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu, to court. The lawyer to IPOB, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, told Vanguard that Kalu’s statement was a script written by the Federal government and acted by him. Kalu had on Tuesday in Minna, while on a visit to former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, told reporters that Nnamdi Kanu, was in London and doing well. He claimed that Kanu fled to the UK during the time the military were looking for him. After the September 14, 2017’s Operation Python Dance, by Nigerian Army in the Southeast region, IPOB said their leader had disappeared. Angered by this statement credited to former Abia state governor, Ejiofor said that, Orji Uzor Kalu, had made himself a party to the matter already in court.

Govt Seeks U.S.$6 Billion From China Exim Bank to Construct Ibadan-Kano Rail Line

  By Ndubuisi Francis and Kasim Sumaina Abuja — The federal government has disclosed that it is currently negotiating a loan of about $6 billion with the China Exim Bank for the construction of the Ibadan-Kano rail line project. This is coming as the Debt Management Office (DMO) has allayed fears over Nigeria's continuing borrowing from China, assuring that the country's public debt is being managed under statutory provisions and international best practice. The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, gave the hint during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja yesterday. Kanu cries out over Switzerland’s refusal to grant family members visa

  Concise News recalls that the IPOB had in a statement last week through the group’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, ordered the people in the Southeast region of the country to observe a sit-at-home September 14. A pro-Biafra activist Emeka Gift has vowed that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) would shut down ‘Biafra land’ to observe a sit-at-home order by the secessionist group September 14.    The statement had called on Igbos in every part of the country to stay indoors on the said date, to register its anger, and protest the alleged killing of men and women at Afaraukwu, Umuahia, in the course of Operation Python Dance carried out by the military in September, 2017, as well as those killed in Port Harcourt and Aba.
