BIAFRA:Family warns against Biafra comments, activities at burial

  BIAFRA NATION  The family of civil war veteran, Col. Joseph Achuzia has banned any form of pro Biafra ativity or comments at the burial ceremony. The date is expected to be confirmed soon. They warned that security agencies and others have been informed that the family does not want placards, uniforms, flags and others at the event. Achuzia, 90, passed away in February at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba. Chairman of the Burial Committee, Ogbueshi Ejiofor Onyia, told Independent in Asaba, that all they want is a peaceful burial. According to him, those to attend must abide by the rules. “The whole world will have to honour him as he will be buried sitting down as a High Chief, traditional title holder and that there will not be lying in state except the Day of Tribute in Enugu. “We are guarded that people may take laws into their hands. Yoruba Council Of Elders To Buhari Sack All Service Chiefs Immediately

   BIAFRA NATION The council hinged their reason on the service chiefs’ alleged inability to effectively curtail killings in different parts of the country. According to them, the recurrent massacre in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states have lent credence to the accusation by a former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, that the military was colluding with killer herdsmen to embark on ethnic cleansing. The YCE stated this in a communique issued after their Expanded National Executive meeting held in Ado Ekiti on Thursday in honour of its late President, Chief Idowu Sofola (SAN), who died last Friday. Nigerian govt commences secret trial of Nnamdi Kanu’s co-defendants

   BIAFRA NATION The Justice Binta Nyako-led court had in 2017 granted Kanu bail but ordered that the four other IPOB members be remanded in Kuje prison. The secret trial of four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, resumed at the Federal High Court, Abuja with the Nigerian Government calling its first witness, on Thursday. Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, are facing charges alongside the elusive IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. However, the Nigerian Government had on March 20, 2018 re-arraigned the four IPOB members on an amended three-count charge.    BIAFRA NATION The Bishop of the Diocese, Rt Rev. Owen Nwokolo said such step would project the government as being serious about providing Nigerians with adequate, unbiased and nepotism-free security.   The Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion, has challenged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to deal with killer herdsmen the same way it treated the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. IPOB:Produce Nnamdi Kanu or go to prison – Court warns Senator Abaribe, two others

   BIAFRA NATION The Federal High Court in Abuja has asked the three sureties in the trial of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, to produce the defendant or risk going to prison. Kanu, who is currently facing trial for alleged treason, was required to be produced in court by his sureties.  Kanu’s sureties were Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, a Jewish priest, Immanuu-El Shalom, and an accountant resident in Abuja, Tochukwu Uchendu. However, the IPOB leader has not been seen after since September 2017. Justice Binta Nyako had asked the sureties to produce the defendant. At the resumption of the matter, however, a counsel for the sureties, Chukwuma Machukwu Umeh, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, said his client had not been served with court papers relating to the order made by the judge.    BIAFRA NATION The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has faulted media reports that its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been dismissed as director of Radio Biafra. It dismissed the report as ”a cheap diversionary tactics designed to test our dedication and resolve in the run up to the much anticipated boycott of Anambra elections on Saturday November 18th, 2017.”  IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, in a statement said no amount of false stories would dent the group’s resolve to restore Biafra through Kanu’s leadership. ”The preposterous and laughable idea that he has been sacked from Radio Biafra he personally established in London and IPOB he founded is tantamount to saying that the Sun is no longer part of the solar system. Reports of extra-judicial killings by the Nigerian Army during a military show of force tagged Operation Python Dance 2, is set to be investigated by the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague.
